I don't think it's dead, people are still playing it. The real thing is that animal crossing new horizons isn't being update. You can call it dead when no one plays it.

So many treasure islands are insanely active that the free ones are impossible to navigate cause someone is always travelling to the same island. Tho granted try them at your own risk since nintendo doesn't like modded players :( and there's always live streamers too on twitch/youtube/tiktok
In the next game I would love to see the shop keepers be able to have their shops back, and lil areas on the second floor of those shops that count as their living spaces that you can only visit at night during a two hour window. It would also be cool to see Isabelle and Tom Nook also have a shared apartment above the town hall. It’s kind of weird they mostly don’t have places to sleep, except for those on Harv’s Island in their campers, though that might be rough, living in them year round.
Think it highly depends on if they can fix the problems the core fans had with new horizons and if it can bring more decoration options for the newer players. I also think that pocket camp players might not want to try out a mainline game if it has less cool items. Unless they REALLY listen to feedback it looks like its going downhill
Do take note that pocket camp is a completely different game from other animal crossing series. Its just another mobile decorating game that is animal crossing themed. Do not have ur hypes too high. I been playing pocket camp since 2020
The new items are INSANELY BEAUTIFUL! love everything about them. Especially the giant teddy bear cookie themed, which looks like it could be a fortune cookie! I'm excited to see how we can get these items and how the new Leaf Tokens system will work out. Hopefully they distribute Leaf Tokens generously as we play or items can be purchased with Bells! I'm sad to see Pocket Camp shut down, but I'm so excited for this event. I didn't expect them to create an event so soon after launch (I expected them to roll out new content in January)!
Imo, I think they should do something similar to new leaf and instead of a new game, update NH with some new content or perhaps expand it so we get to visit and manage a town similar to wild world/the game on the Wii. Additionally linking it with this new version of pocket camp. Alternately, I could imagine them using the new pocket camp as a build up to the next animal crossing game, or update, depending on what direction they choose to go.
While I agree about an unlikely launch title, It would actually be possible for the next animal crossing to be a launch title, considering its most likely been in design since 2020, its possible to use ACNH as a template and change the layout/assets etc (I honestly can't imagine a massive overhaul of the graphics as ACNH had on ACNL.) It would make sense to boost new console sales on the given how popular ACNH was.
the phone game is like $12.99 and £8.99 which is annoying cause its a phone game.. why not spend time on the game which is more loved (NH) and bring the community back?
I really hope we get a game like City Folk but remade to be like a city manager game, and we can use our amiibo to fill the city quickly. It’d probably be a spin-off but I just feel like having lots of amiibo becomes redundant when you can only have so many inhabitants on one island-I know that’s how the game have always been but I’d really love something like this instead. Just have a bunch of mini-games like the coffee shop iirc where we can see our villagers and their favourite drinks.

There’s definitely a learning curve, because the “tutorial” is very bare bones. I’d say just go to a wiki or something where you can look up each area to figure out how it’ll work. Shovelstrike Quarry currently requires help from your PC friends to get in (5 helpers per day, but you can request help from scores of your friends at a time, so it’s quite likely at least 5 of them will be able to help you out!) - but since the online friend component will be shifting significantly, I’m not sure how it’ll work. Essentially, you go around the different areas, collecting resources (fruits, fish, bugs, shells). Then you can see who needs what (a check mark will appear next to those who you have what they want already so it’s easy to see that at a glance). Delivering those items “through” Pete the pelican is even faster if you’re in a rush. But it boils down to, “Get stuff, give stuff, get different stuff in return.” With the stuff you get in return (materials of wood, metal, preserves, cotton, and shiny gems, plus bells), you can craft furniture and “amenities” for your campground. The different amenities unlock higher friendship levels with the animals (which is always easy to see when you’ve interacted with them, or from a menu where you can search up all your animal friends). Different animals will ask you to have crafted certain furniture before they’ll come to your campsite. (You don’t need to display it, you just need to own it!) Then they can come visit (or you can lock them in to stay!) and will have less requests but different interactions with you and still can level up friendship with you and give you different things. As your friendship with them levels up, you level up, and you get more rewards for doing that as well. It’s not complicated, thankfully, but I would say some things aren’t always explained super well. Then there are seasonal special events and things, where you’ll maybe have a new resource you can gather and trade in to craft or attain special items. These are very simple, and the fishing tourneys are also super simple! NH and PC are quite different in how you play, but if you just kind of knock around in the app you won’t have trouble. You have two days left where you can try the free version and just get the hang of things to see if you might enjoy the paid app later, too! Personally, I never played before this last 2 months, when I logged in just to see if I could get the Campground items in my second Switch, and ended up really enjoying Pocket Camp! I’m going to miss the interactions with friends; I didn’t know anyone in the app beforehand, but it’s been really sweet to “build friendships” based on just gifting back and forth and helping with things like shovelstrike quarry entry (which honestly all you have to do is tap “Help me out?” And bam you helped them out! 😅) I hope that doesn’t sound overly complicated or anything! The Happy Home section is a great spot to go to early on and begin doing challenges, too, if you play; you can get a particular material there that I don’t think comes from anywhere else, and it’s nice to have it for when you might want it! Essentially it’s a “challenge” where it’ll (almost always) tell you what 3+ items of furniture you should need to “win” it. So let’s say you have 2/3 of those pieces. You go in, it’ll tell you what pieces to put down for 2 of them and which one it wishes you had for the third. You can use your judgment on the third and see how it goes, you might still achieve a perfect score! Then you win medals for having done the thing (2/3 medals in the case of having two of the items, or even 3 medals if you had a good substitute, or all 3 items!), and then you get materials based on that and your HH levels. It’s not a “necessary” part of the gameplay, but those materials will be integral if there are certain items you want to make and don’t have NMT (or whatever they’re replacing them with) to supplement building without it. I really would just play around in the free version to get a feeling for it! Initially when I first tried it on release I wasn’t a fan, but lately I’ve been enjoying it more. That said, I’ll miss the community aspect. I hope this might have helped, and that you’ll have fun! 🎉❤😊
I started pc prior to ever playing a console ac game, and I am hoping for a bit more daily activities. Aside from fishing and fruit picking, decorating is the big pull. I usually pick it up first 20 min a few times a day, on my breaks at work.

I may be wrong but I thought that was why there was a shift. even right up until pocket camp shut down (which… I think was earlier today?) they had stuff rotating in and out

I’m not sure if Animal Crossing has been playable online on Tencent Switches since the game’s ban in April 2020. So if you play with Chinese players they probably own a regular switch model and won’t be affected by any of that. Since the news only affect the mainland Tencent Switch and not Hong Kong or Taiwan accounts which aren’t operated by Tencent nor work on a Tencent Switch

Honestly over mobile games like Hogwarts Legacy. We’re supposed to get a second one or at least another game in the franchise and now they’re pushing it back because a mobile game is coming first. Even though Harry Potter has already shut down three mobile games through the App Store. Smh
Ah just pocket camp stuff. Disappointing. Hopefully the next consule game is good. New horizons added a lot of new ideas, but at the cost of things that made the series special. I hoe now that they have had success at a new scale they can bring back a lot of the older concepts and depth with the newer takes on game play since so many liked it so much.

Pocket camp complete is one purchase only. It’s a bit grindy to earn stuff but you won’t have to pay any real money after buying the app itself
