We have overpaid 1.375 Trillion Rand in the past 15 years according to data provided by Financial compliance expert Paul Nel. Now we must pay more??? For the same price we could have built 7 Nuclear power stations according to estimates. A trillion, not billions....we are talking a trillion Rand!!!! That means each person in this country has overpaid R22 177 over 15 years. This is R1478 per year and R123 per month each!!
They must get all the looting and corruption. High salaries, bonusses. And yet all people in rdp houses get 100 units free as well as all the stolen cables and illegal electricity. They dont pay a thing. Citizens had to pay for failures of goverment to stop illegal and corruption and get money back. Its disgusting!!
Part of the basic problem is the current tariff policy to give services away free to the sector who are the highest users of services/m2. Instead of adopting a policy that everyone must pay, and creating eg 3 basic structures excluding bus tariffs, the ANC insists on free services, convoluted tariff structures, municipalities using vastly increased electricity tariffs to x-subsidise income. For years the ANC has used the words we give - they have given nothing but a collapsed economy, increased job losses &failing infrastructure.
South African Municipalities apparently owe Escom in the region of SIXTY-THREE BILLION RAND. One can assume that obviously the moneys were rendered to the Municipalities in good faith. So....how does the vanishing trick of the funds work? When are we going to say enough is enough...and DO SOMETHING?
Therefore we suffer for corruption, therefore we must pay more for all that. After they have collected the money, they still raise the price. I do not plan to use ESKOM in a long run. We have coal in this country, how would it be if we did not have it?.
There is failure to be mentioned that now that the lights are ACTUALLY ON - Eskom is billing for those hours which in the past was lost to loadshedding - this now makes the consumer feel the R400 increase two fold.

The strange thing is that they have EXCESS power. But because there needs to be a PROFIT and they have lost allot of clients, now We the citizens of SA have to pay more, for this Capitalist minded annual profit mentality. How does this serve the people of SA?
All these increases don't hit the people who vote for ANC. They hit the people who are funding everything with their hard earned salaries: the taxpayers. Wow. The stupidity is incredible. Wanting to squeeze the last little bit out of people who are barely getting by. Why not follow in Namibia's footsteps and start charging all these tourists for visa's. Apparently Cape Town had about 3 million visitors last year. At just $50 a visa (a lot less than what we must pay to go to their countries), I am sure anyone with basic math can do that calculation. That is a hell of a lot of money, every year, that can do a hell of a lot for this country instead of trying to squeeze it out of the poor. I have tourists coming into my business and last year I asked every one of them if they would be willing to pay for a tourist visa. Not only did everyone say that they would be happy to pay for a visa, but the Americans said that they were very surprised that they didn't have to pay for a visa. While others are preoccupied with trivial matters, the DA can capitalize on the ANC's weaknesses. By providing essential services in traditionally ANC-held areas, you can sway voters and gain a competitive edge. Similarly, implementing efficient waste management systems, ensuring access to clean water, and upgrading infrastructure can demonstrate a commitment to governance. By focusing on these critical areas and letting achievements speak louder than words, the DA can outmaneuver the ANC and secure a decisive victory.
