  • I was approached by a senior journalist from the Mail Online (Daily Mail) to talk about the reasons why I LEFT teaching and quit my job as a full time teacher. We spoke about many reasons why teachers are leaving their jobs in the UK to find work in sunnier climes such as Dubai and Australia, often for more money. I gave my piece in the news article and I talk more about my experience and my view on it all. Have any thoughts? Let me know in the comments. Please do like, comment, and especially subscribe. It really helps grow my channel and open conversations up.

Super insightful and well said!! I totally agree with everything you said, glad you’re using your voice to speak up about this, especially before the general election

Thank you!! I was tempted to go through the manifestos re teaching but dunno if that’s too risky 😂 maybe keep politics to myself as I’ll say something wrong ahahha

Training to teach and Teaching in Scotland has done a great damage to my mental health. I hope I can find the courage and pathway to leave soon. I worked so hard to get the qualification and become a fully registered Teacher and feel very sad to have to leave it all behind. I console myself knowing that I could maybe teach in some other country so the hard work I put into qualifying is not a waste.

I’m so sorry to hear that 😔 it takes so much time, passion, love, and energy to get into teaching, I understand. It is so sad that teachers struggle to stay in the job, especially due to mental health and stress. I know you will find a different path and build yourself back up. You sound like such an asset to a school, don’t give up on teaching if you like it and go somewhere sunny! 😊☀️

I think you can start an independent common-sense home-schooling network based in Scotland.

The pecking order of the school system is government, higher ups in school, parents, teachers and last of all the kids. It's more important to pretend to the parents the kids are being educated than actually educate them, it's more important to achieve government targets than educate the kids, it's more important to raise the teacher's pay than educate the kids.
I worked in the UK system, both full time and supply teaching and like a huge number of teachers, I sent my kids to a collective homeschool while working in a school. Now I work in a foreign school, classes of 10-12 kids, and 200 in the whole school, kindergarten to sixth form. Really laid back, nurturing and family environment, no targets to meet or masses of admin, no tight curriculums, just make sure the kids have fun each lesson is our main raison d'etre. And this isn't an expensive private school either just a local village school.
The British school system is an antiquated system based in Victorian ideas. It's little more than a baby sitting service for workers and a way of crushing kids souls and dehumanising them ready for life. The only solution is to abolish the whole system and start again.

I totally agree, it is archaic and isn’t in line with the times and the future economy at all. It just makes a majority of children into workers, it is sad. It is great to hear of an alternative though, I hadn’t known home schooling to be a big thing amongst teachers but I will look into that. Which country are you working in? It sounds fantastic! 😊

Hi. I think you are too high-quality a teacher to be teaching in state schools. I'm teaching in China - much better.

It just sounds like you are the bottom feeder to a completely corrupt system.
