    Here are the torque specs from the service manual:
    Bushing clamp (2) - 22.1 ft-lb
    Endlink (2) - 28 ft-lb
    Lateral link 17mm - 59 ft-lb
    I think I will torque mine down using ramps so I can still reach all the bolts.

    Hey Smeedia, I know this an old video but i've been following you for awhile now, i have a 21 wrx that im starting to mod. I'm tryna decide how much of a difference it would be getting a 22mm vs 24mm? why'd you go with 24mm? I believe the 21 wrx has 19 hollow sway bar... so how big of difference would i feel? I'm tryna just get the understeer to go away .. if that makes sense.

    • @Smeedia
      @Smeedia  Рік тому +1

      Thicker rear sway bar will help reduce understeer. So 24mm is a good spot for daily driving 🫡

    Just curious, is your sway bar upside down ? The oem was bent up in the center, you have the white line facing down. Maybe that's why it's rubbing on you exhaust in your future video. Just my observation. I love your videos, keep em coming. I can't wait to see your ej33 completed.

    Thanks for sharing this video! Very helpful and informative. Do you have any advice on what size sway bars to get for a 2020 WRX? I am hoping to introduce a modest amount of oversteer like I had on my 2003 WRX. There is a lot of opinion on the Interwebs and my path forward isn't clear. I am considering 22mm front and 24mm rear. Any thoughts based on your experience?

    • @Smeedia
      @Smeedia  3 роки тому +2

      That's what I would do, I always go stiffer in the rear than in the front. Helps greatly with the amount of understeer the car comes with 🔥😁

    Hey, just a quick question. In the video you say that you don’t want to tighten anything down without load on the wheels, how would you go about that? It doesn’t seem like you’d have the room when you lower it back down to get under it to tighten everything.

  • @devonk8429
    @devonk8429 3 роки тому

    Great video, one question for you that is related... Do you need the front two tires at the same level, on ramps or wooden boards, to balance the weight of the car all the way around to achieve no preload? Or can you achieve zero preload just doing the rear first (on wood or ramps) and then doing the front second (on wood or ramps)? I'll be installing Whiteline adjustable front and rear sway bars and end links soon and want to achieve zero preload. I have ramps and two jacks at my disposal here at home. Thanks so much for any input you can provide!

    • @Smeedia
      @Smeedia  3 роки тому +1

      Ideally if you can get all four up that would be beat so your keeping an even balance on the car, if you cannot at least getting 2 will suffice

    If you go with the smallest adjustable sway bar, would you get a more comfortable and better handling ride?

    • @mallninja12
      @mallninja12 Рік тому +1

      Yeah. That WRX has a 16mm rsb and 21mm fsb stock. Ive gone up to 22mm (2nd car I've done it with) and rallitek end links (you need end links at minimum). It gets rid of a dramatic amount of body roll on its own and plants the back more and with a 1mm stock front I still get enough controllable bite into corners despite adding tons of chassis bracing too

    I've got a rear whiteline swaybar and I'm thinking the endlinks are OEM...when I drive around I'll hear a clunking noise, in the rear when I take turns/go over bumps...I thought it was my exhaust swaying back and fourth but definitely isn't, I just replaced my exhaust bushings with stiffer ones. So what do you think...next step is probably to inspect the end links and figure out where that sound is coming from?

    • @Smeedia

    Do those Perrin Spherical Endlinks make any noises while driving? I recently installed some Spherical Endlinks onto my car and they make these popping and creaking noises non-stop. It's irritating as hell 😭 Also, were the heights of those rear endlinks approximately the same height? Mine were completely different. My rear passenger one is considerably shorter than my driver side rear one. Couldn't install them onto my rear sway bar without making the driver side taller than the passenger side's. Any tips that I could do to solve this?

    • @Smeedia
      @Smeedia  4 роки тому

      The Perrin ones do not make any noise at all 😁 as for the height did you install them with load on the rear sway bar or no?

    • @TheSuaveBOSS
      @TheSuaveBOSS 4 роки тому

      @@Smeedia Yep! I made sure to install them where there's load on the sway bars. I jacked the car up onto jack stands and installed the rear endlinks (and rear sway bars) and bolted up the fasteners to the studs until they were snug. I then dropped the car onto some homemade ramps and torqued everything to spec.
      Funny enough, I've done this installation on and off the car so many times over the course of the past 2 weeks that I've memorized the torque specs to every single bolt in the rear suspension. Still have a bunch of noises :/ Not sure if I should just give up on spherical rear endlinks and order some SuperPro Rear Endlinks (with poly bushings) instead.

    • @TheSuaveBOSS
      @TheSuaveBOSS 4 роки тому

      @@SkeIIie It's likely that you may have torqued the the endlinks' fasteners while the car was jacked up. I fixed my rear end's clunking noise by re-torquing all of the endlink, sway bar fasteners, and bolts to spec.
