I think in this new mode bloated corpses are going to be very good suddenly to clear off points very quickly. I can't wait to see bloated corpses just screaming down the hills to clear out chaff crowded around a point.
Oh my god I never considered that. Coast Armies consisting entirely of hounds and bloaty boys, deleting chaff and backcapping. Genuinely can't wait for that.
@@ThatOneGeneral_ Don't forget Big Bertha sniping idle units from across the map, plus their air units.
You say the intensity increase the magic damage by 130% at the beginning, but I reckon 100% is just base damage; so in this case the increase would just be by 30%. Which is still significant but not as insane
Turin: Valiant Sigmarite! Exorcise this terracotta abomination in the name of all that is holy!
Priest: What about all those deamons?
Turin: Not important right now! Have you seen its head spin?
Imagine the Hierotitan had the speed and mobility of a sentinel. I still think the hierotitan is one of the most awesome bad units in the game and wished he would get some love and redemption.
Imagine if it had an unlimited ammo eye-laser ranged attack, so it can actually be a good hybrid unit
He could be a decent objective-holder when Tomb Kings can play Domination mode. Also, he buffs winds of magic in WH2, so I’m keen to see if/how that gets updated for the new WH3 magic system!
But they are great in grind fights. My tournament builds against chaos and Vampires consists of ROR Necroshinx, Arkhan, Hiero, 2 necrotects (healing on constructs, 24 meele attack buff when needed + item that gives 20% weakness to fire and -10meele attack, Both hiero and ror have fire attacks so they hit for ~700). Unless you missmicro and loose arkhan you shouldnt ever loose.
Interestingly giants are go to in VC matchup too. So i can see both giants and Hieros being played a lot against nurgle once games merge.
Also less visible thing is magic generation. With hierotitans you can take entire Hp of Archoan with spirit leeches (and hiero got another one built in as well as long range shots, chich are awesome against chaos cannons. With ror ushabti longbows i won shootout against 2 chaos cannons: ua-cam.com/video/S-Pclewb0II/v-deo.html&feature=emb_logo )
@candyman True, but he already uses eye-lasers in melee, it wouldn’t be too far of a stretch to extend its range.
Oh Turin, can you please be sure to show us the reinforcement and army compositions at the end of the video please?
Glad to see some unique and powerful builds coming into Cathay's playstyle. I'm very excited to see what builds will come out once all the factions are available and the game is released to the public. Meta will shift rapidly!
It would be hilarious if you could put a net or slow down on fleeing friendly troops to anchor them in place. In some situations, it could prevent a valuable asset from leaving the map.
I feel it would lead to a lot of unintentional miss click as well...
Like wasting your magic, or trapping your own troops by accident...
You know what’s crazy is I’ve been following you for years now. That being said you consistently outdo yourself gran turino. Love the work man!
Looks like the mighty Chaos Knights are still mounted on their teeny daemonic ponies.
I'm honestly still waiting to find out how much harmony will effect battles. There really hasn't been an army comp focusing on it, and I'm interested to see just how important it is in an actual battle.
Enticity sort of showed it off in one of the last battles of Turins last stream. I was noticing he was moving infantry around the map in pairs: 1 melee, 1 range. Turin didn't really comment on it, but it seems valuable to consider positioning and movement to get harmony effects.
I think people have been treating the lanterns more like gyrocopters, when they should be treated more like corpse carts that offer support and can do a little bit of damage. If you control the skies with longma riders you might as well bring in a lantern for the bonuses if you don't have any ranged around.
I think some of that will come down to what they end up doing with Cathay. At this point it's pretty clear they are the weakest of the new factions, I know Kislev, Ogres, and Slaanesh haven't technically been revealed yet but the crumbs we have gotten so far indicate they will be pretty good. So I think Cathay will probably get a balancing update, which could make harmony insignificant, a core aspect, or something that is nice to get when you can but not a game breaker or something you go out of your way for.
@@insearchofprometheus I think cathay is still being figured out tbh, they have a lot of complexity, nurgle looks to be the weakest faction. On TT his plaguebearers were equal to graveguard, in game they are vastly worst. Like it takes 22 volleys from peasant archers to kill graveguard, based on plaguebearers stats it takes only 11 to kill them.
As a miniatures wargamer, I appreciate the hobby commentary on @11:50!!!
Love all the content you have been putting out since the W3 started, now I cannot go a day without watching something from your channel!
I think I've seen that scheme used to paint Thousand Sons before, looks very cool.
Good stuff Turin. I know domination will be the superior game mode in WH3 but I’d love to see some regular land battles
cathay double sentinel looks a bit too similar to the ole' arkhan double hierotitan blob lol... my goodness durthu was right.. all has happened before and all will happen again :D
I understand Cathay's harmony and cooperation theming but you would think that the increase of power per caster would be Tzeentch's thing.
Bright silver with a blue wash has been a favourite painting technique of mine for a while now
Kinda shame that no one is using Cathay's Jezzails. They do sound like a unit that could help shoot down Kairos from the sky or shut down Flamers. Though I know it's hard to protect them.
Ranged vs chaos factions is a bad idea. Even nurgle has cheap 110 speed flying units.
@@mcmarkmarkson7115 This is honestly what most of Cathay's problems boil down too. They look super weak because the factions they happen to share a game with counter them. I can see cathay being much more effective against other ranged heavy factions like dwarves, coast and empire that cant punish them so effectively.
Nice reverb ;D
Love your content. It's awesome, I enjoy it a lot. Please keep going :)
My only issue with this game mode is that at 13:29 you had practically already won; only needing to hold one flag for the rest of the match. This means that the last two and a half minutes were anticlimactic, despite having potential for excitement in terms of the armies still present.
Doing the math to figure this out quickly in-game is not easy, but essential to know for when one should go all in. Perhaps CA could add an additional timing indicator for how much time one has until it would only be possible to win with a triple cap.
I agree and from what I've seen from domination mode streams many matches are a forgone conclusion long before they actually reach the end.
Yes, but the same thing happens all the time in regular MP matches. The only difference is that there is now a number directly showing you this, rather than having to manually gauge the remaining troop strength.
@@Woeboez No, regular matches are completely different. One can so easily tell when the match is lost because victory/defeat is based entirely on the balance of troops on the battlefield. Whereas in domination mode one may even have a superior army engaged in favorable engagements and not realise that one has already lost the game.
@@Bayonet1809 Ah sorry, I thought you were saying it was too easy to tell when a game is last, when you in fact meant the opposite.
What are your thoughts with the starting army gold amount?
Do you think it needs to be increased or have the ratios of starting : reinforcements changed?
Many domination critiques I have seen have focused on the smaller starting armies making it feel less "epic."
2v2 seems to be the perfect amount of units though.
But it does feel epic. Armies rarely just march into each other, usually there is some smaller skirmish force to scan battlefield etc. The vanguard . Domination feels like the style of battle when they both walked into some space and are starting to clash waiting for reinforcements and its totally fine. In those 3 minutes before objectives become available you get another ~2k, so you have 75% of regular 12400 battles (and now, as ultra is go to size, the armies are actually as big as 12400 in terms of models)
I would have loved to see see kill-counts for the reinforcements.
Friend, I ain't gonna lie. You sound awfully skaven-ish to me. Sigmar protects us!
you mentioned the crane gunners and the iron hail gunners, makes me think they need a high tier infantry unit that shoots rockets, or mortars. Preferably they should be able to switch ammunition. Mid range rockets that deal high ap damage, or mortar shells that do mostly non-ap splash damage. I would call them Firetongue Rocketeers.
I think CA/GW want to avoid midrange ranged for Cathay to avoid overlap with the Empire, so we won't get Handgunner equivalents. Anti-large AP rockets based on the Tamurkhan concept of a cannon firing javelins might be very interesting. A bit like non-explosive Trollhammers, but they fire, say, three javelin projectiles at once from either a single troop or weapon teams.
Another thing that might help is if Cathay gets Fire Lance cavalry.
On one hand. i really like magic changes. Thats something new id really like to experiment with.
On another - thats 3 heavy SEMs and some chaff. Playing that and against that got old in game one.
So "Longma" means dragon horse in Mandarin. The O sound in "Long" is the same as in "Lone". If you just say "Lone-mah", it'll be a pretty close approximation
Watching those peasant mounted just run into that talons and the night and get melted 😂
Finally. FINALLY!! After 10 matches I've watched, one victory goes to Cathay. Finally someone played through their strengths. Still not enough though but at least I finally saw a victory.
Yes and it was a pretty clean victory too. I think Cathay is struggling simply because their optimal style maybe less obvious than the chaos demons. Just haven't discovered enough yet.
A lot of people of people seem to play them like a regular faction, when most of their units are weaker than average and designed around the harmony mechanic, which is probably why Cathay hasn't performed well thus far.
I don't know about how fun it is to play, but domination mode is fundamentally less interesting to watch. There are no longer any major clashes, just small skirmishes spread out around the map. Reinforcements seem to favour fast units far too much, especially considering you have 3 objectives to fight over and not one.
I wholeheartedly agree, out of the 40 or so I've watched, only 3 were fun, the rest were a slogfest that I kept telling myself that it will get better. It has not
Yes, it is less interesting to watch but more funny to play in my opinion
I hope you’ll keep casting the odd classic battle every now and then. While of course Domination mode is a lot healthier for the PvP community and ranked mode, I had a lot more fun watching the big open field battles of days gone.
Man so much WHIII footage I don't find the time to watch it all. Took me over a week to watch the Zhao Ming stream. Wanna focus on Cathay first, too. Now that you played both Cathay LLs, which one of the siblings do you cosnider to be stronger MP and campaign? Luv your content, keep it up!
Has their been any decision on what format future ECL will be? Is it going with the Domination mode or will it stay true to it's roots?
it's so cool that the NBA and Warhammer had a cross-over. Yao Ming was a much needed addition to the game!
Glad to see you playing waehammer again. Cant want to murder all these silly magic armies with good old dwarf guns.
I have never seen anyone actually mouse over the bonus vs large for screamers. Anyone know how much BVL they actually have? Its interesting that no one ever thinks to actually check that stat.
Maybe I missed it, but I've noticed you haven't used the withdraw mechanic in the Dom games. Saw that your opponent opted to withdraw some cav[?] at 11:35. What are your thoughts on it? You've mentioned before that it recharges summon spells, are there any other perks like ammo restocking?
I think it's a bit odd that tzeentch doesn't get mastery of elemental winds in multiplayer and only 3 spellschools when it's supposed to be "the magic faction" would be cool if they atleast let you pick a spell selection on kairos from the ones you get access to in campaign.
I think he does. Pendulum isn’t in any of the three lores available to Tzeentch.
@@afrosamurai7941 He can't change spells, he has pendulum, harmonic convergence, regrowth and 3 tzeentch spells afaik
13:41 Did the Talons of the Night damage your own cavalry there?
I wonder if there is any practical difference in how the Longma perform between charging ground units from the air or landing first and then charging.
I assume they'll lose some of their speed on the ground but i'm not sure if that affects anything else.
Also i want to see some iron hail goodness, maybe they'll help melting Nurgle's chunky lads?
longma is pronounced "l-oh-ng ma" phonetically, which translates into "dragon horse" of Chinese mythology. They're basically dragon scaled Pegasus
Ahh Chaos Knights, powerful mortal warriors who were gifted extraordinary abilities by Dark Gods, and spent years and years of their lives on a quest to find the mightiest, fiercest ponies of the Chaos Wastes.
@Turin Black orcs being unbreakable makes complete sense to me, they're going to die, it's what they're made for. Miao Ying however, made it 1000 plus years, by knowing when to run. No use dying in a battle, when there is a war to be fought.
Would you please cast classic battles too?
If I had one wish, it would be a peak at the Start Army, and Reinforcements before the start of the match.
You don't live to become an Ancient dragon god by fighting every battle - Sun Tzu
What about taking out the double crossbow and just starting with peasant archers as bait+armony trigger? or its not worth at all to trigger armony.
Not sure how strong the mechanic is, but im kinda intrigued about using cheap, expendable units to trigger it, even if out of position.
As said not sure if its worth, hope to learn more of it from your vids or when the game lauches for everyone! GL
For melee Harmony gives +6 melee defense and leadership, both of wich can be increased to up to +12 with Harmony amplifiers. For comparison sake, the encourage effect given from lords and heroes gives +8, and that alone is a world of diference. Other effects that afect leadership generally give a + (or -) 4 to 16, for the huge effects like doom and darkeness and active habilities like hold the line or fight or die.
The defense bonus ranges from half martial prowess to Full martial prowess, and on units that are already tanky It can make them last a lot longer in a grind. You can referenciate to any HE unit to have a garsp of the impact of melee Def, timing How long they take to get to half Hp and then How long they take to loose the rest of their Hp.
For ranged units It gives + 6 (up to 12) leadership and + 12 (up to 24) reload skill. As far as I've been able to test and what I've found on line, each point in reload skill in WH2 gives about 1.1% increase in the unit's reload speed. So you get anything from 13,2% and 26,4% increased reload speed in your ranged units. For perspective, If your crossbows shoot once every 9,8 seconds (about standart for most ranged units in game 2) they Will shoot once every 8,5 seconds with the baseline Harmony and once every 7,2 seconds for your maxed version of Harmony. Artilhery usually have longer reload times, so Harmony Will have a Bigger efect on them then on foot skirmishers.
One final consideration about reload skill is that its effect is based on the unit's original (unchevroned) reload time, só If you raide its rank só It shoots once every 7,6 seconds, your Harmony Will still have its Full original effect reducing your reload speed to 6,3 for the base effect and 4 seconds for the Max effect (wich is a tad more then Double DPS).
In short, yeah, Harmony can be bonkers with the Harmony enhancers and even without them its still pretty damm good for a passive.
While I agree having extra magic damage is nice, it's
a) 30% more damage for like 1000 of your magaes (at least) and
b) telling us how much dmg vortex that deals damage to every entity do to unit with 160 models is kinda pointless.they will die to any vortex. Maybe burning head will not kill them as first few of them will survive due to barrier and then the rest of unit will be anihilated.
Is it me or do we finally have a brand new efficient charge for flying cavalry? Even against super glass cannons pegasus knights never seem to connect that well.
Very cool to see how a magic heavy build fares against Tzeentch!
If you could show some regular battles or sieges it would be nice, mostly since it seems like Cav will always reach the backline at somepoint in this mode unless your fighting nurgle.
12:19 Actually that looks like some of your own spears getting krumped.
You either become a Rider the Great LongMa ; or get Mounted by The Small ShortPa !
man this game mode is aktualy interesting to spectate
Happy lunar new year! 🐅
Can a unit that transforms like Miao still do so when they've been snared on the ground, or in the air?
The alchemists have some sick combat animations
Can't wait to finally be able to play with Great Ligma Riders
ty my dude 4 the awesomness!

In the same vein, isnt healing also increased with elemental mastery? That can help Sentinels get to their healing cap
yes it does and buff and debuff are also multiplied by the amplifier
Ma man Packing that tw3 content
Hi, question - why haven't we been able to see any videos on Kislev? Has not much been released for that faction or...? TIA
Embargo. They're being released at certain dates. No one is able to show Kislev til tomorrow (3rd), N'kari on the 10th, and Ogres on the 13th
are the exalted Flamers and the Flamer on the flying chariot are bad units? I nerver see someone using them.
The chariot one is bad because it doesn't have enough ammo. As for the exalted one idk but seeing how fast flamers kill things I don't think you'd want any more damage anyway.
those talones were just brutal short of the tankiest of dwarven units I do dare say that it would delete almost any unit in one solid cast, such a good spell.
Can't wait for domination
Is there a problem with your mic or are you Moving out and record in an empty room ? There is a lot of écho coming from your sound
You need to put up some pictures on the walls or hang some drapes! The echo in there is profound! :)
Do you think that the Terracotta Sentinel is a little underpriced right now? It seems crazy that a unit with identical melee stats to a giant but unbreakable with 70 extra armor, 10 extra speed, and with magic attacks would only cost 100 more gold than a regular giant. They're basically just giants but without any of the weaknesses.
that does seem nutty. Giant has more WS (presumably a fair bit more on Ultra) but that doesn't come close to making up the difference.
@@eumaies I just checked and giants have the exact same health, MA, MD, and WS. The only stat that giants are better in is charge bonus (40 vs 25).
I also just remembered that Cathay also has the harmony mechanic so they'll often have slightly better melee stats than giants.
It is also a major focal point of Cathay's game plan, so honestly it makes sense that it is strong for its price. The sentinel is one of those core things that makes Cathay tick in MP.
@@N0ahface I think that with respect to the WS and the health of giants you are maybe not comparing apples to apples with Ultra vs large unit sizes.
@@eumaies I checked on ultra unit scale, unless something is going to be changed in WH3 they definitely have the same weapon strength
I think this is the first time i've ever actually seen cathey win
I'm sure this game mode is better to play, but it's not very clear to watch what's going on. Hoping to see more standard mode games when the games out.
are the balloons useless for Cathay? I don’t think I’ve seen a battle were they have been used yet.
Against Chaos they kind of are, all 4 factions have access to chaos harpies that just mulch flying units. You can bring longma's to protect your balloons but then you have massive investments in units that can't hold points and only have moderate offensive potential. Maybe better against Kislev or Ogre's that don't have as good of a cheap answer to air supremacy.
The balloons also are just bad from what most people playing the game have said, especially for pvp and especially vs factions with good melee flyers.
@@cameronbreeze4029 yea it seems that way. Which is a little unfortunate since the idea was kinda neat.
Turin casting this game from the bathroom lol
I feel like Kairos should be easier to punish in melee.
The games I've seen so far the opponent always just seems to not even try to fight him, knowing it will just be a waste of resources.
Is kislev barred by the embargo?
Figuring out a Cathay meta. Stack ALL of the buffs!
Think i still prefer the old land battles. These are cool for anti cheese on ladder but there's something about field battles. I hope the tournaments are still the old style battles
I really like this new build.its awsome
I think there is a new animation for the higher intensity spells
The battle was just getting going and then suddenly ends at 5000 tickets :/
Seams like they need to do some balancing, Catay only seams to use one spell in all matches.
Wish there were more units per battle. Kinda boring to watch when its like one or two units per point. I feel like this mode would be more fun with small armies as reinforcements instead of one or two units trickling in slowly
where i can dowload this replay?
I feel like skirmish cav is going be strong in the first 3 minutes of domination, when all the races are unlocked for pvp. None of the current races TWW3 have ranged skirmish cav and I feel like they can counter a large number of units from all the races in TWW3
Kislev does! Kislev overall has quite fast, flexible hybrid roster. We'll be seeing how it plays in domination soon
This game mode is pretty damn cool! It’s gonna be wild to see how the other races do… including all the old ones! If you had to guess, which old factions do you think are going to excel at Domination mode?
WHY DO CHAOS KNIGHTS STILL RIDE PONIES
Why is there no Kislev content? The fact that they are being hidden concerns me 😕
Hm, so couldn't you just camp the enemy spawn and kill them before they even really get out?
everytime you say 'Longmo' I hear lawnmow riders'
I think Silver and then a blue wash or ink would work better
I prefer double alchemists to double sentinels build. More entertaining to watch
Bring some commented replay from the tournament pls!
all im asking for is a small nerf to tzeentch shields so hes not going to just run over people in field battles
So the consensus seems to be: Cathay and Nurgle are pretty weak right now and Khorne is pretty good but limited? Idk how the game will even work when you can play older factions. Seems like most of the new ones will just get annihilated.
I don't know about Kislev and Slaanesh yet - the only factions that I haven't seen much - but it looks like the old factions will absolutely wreck everything the new factions have, with the possible exception of the dwarfs who are slow and highly dependent on proper positioning. Even factions that never received any DLC content like Bretonnia will mop the floor with everything the new factions can bring. Very cheap infantry, cheap ranged units, mortis on fey, and a great selection of knights that can dart from one end of the map to the next. I mean, what's nurgle even supposed to bring against knights of the realm? Knights will overwhelm Tzeench, fey will counter Khorne manspam and QK any single entities.
Hey so I read the tooltip slightly wrong, turns out the 3 elemental mastery casters give 30% extra damage it would seem. Still very strong! Cheers!
In before those alchemists get nerfed into oblivion
😆
We forgive you. Appreciate all the dope content!!
Ah, whatever that tooltip says, I saw how entire units melt in a matter of a few seconds! That's telling a lot more than a tooltip))
30 percent still massive
