Funny thing I AM an Eagle 🦅 Scout who has gone through his ordeal & is an Official Member of the OA. Since like 2010. Having Completed my ordeal before the internet had videos on every 😅 I will admit I never knew the “Secret” word until today! The kid who whispered it my ear did it to fast & mumbled! & it’s not like you can stop everything & ask for him to repeat because it’s like this huge creepy ceremony & he had already moved on lol He even said that it meant “to love all others” so I don’t think anyone really knows any more 😂😂
Oh and by the way, there is an obligation to safeguard the information, but you don't have to recite it. It is supposed to be understood. Apparently you didn't understand. The Order of the Arrow, recognizing the attractiveness of the unknown, utilizes the form of mystery. This shall not be interpreted, however, as justifying the withholding of any information regarding the Order from any person legitimately interested in investigation its nature, purpose, or method.
John Ryan whats not right about putting concerned scouts and parents to ease so they will join OA? I had the same fears and didn't see this till 2 years after my ordeal.
As the BSA has said, in it's legal defence "Allowing atheists, and homosexuals would conflict with the founding values of the Boy Scouts of America. We are founded on Judeo Christian principle and do not find that allowing homosexuals to participate in our program would further our aims in any fashion." Also, I don't preach at scouting events. I respect everyone else's religious values and participate accordingly.
The OA is not a cult. The reason these things are withheld from the participants is so that, when they experience them, the whole experience has more meaning. The Order of the Arrow is a service-based organization that does good for the community. Not some secretive cult.
Christianity is not the only faith recognized by the Boy Scouts of America. The reference to a dragon is an analogy for the fact that I am skilled at starting fires.
This is against all of the things the OA would want. It is a secret because it binds together only the people that have been there not just people reading on the internet.
+Mark Hegreberg I honestly am glad that this is up, I've been inactive for 19 years, when my son joined a troop and they asked me if I was in I answered No, because I couldn't remember anything and I didn't want to go through the process of telling one lie after another (a scout is Truthful) so I just let it be, but now that he is transferring out and into another scout troop I can tell them that I was in 19 years ago, but completely lost touch until my son joined scouting two years ago. Ha-Kin-Skay-A-Ki Lodge, Pikes Peak Council, 1994.
Mark Hegreberg I agree, it is sorta like the whole santa clause thing, the parents tell to kids to not ruin the surprise and don't look for presents, or santa wont bring all of them, they decide to ruin it or not.
the only information in here that is really incriminating is the jumpstart password, and the vigil watchwords. The rest is common knowledge, or can be found on jumpstart.
No, if you see a Jesus in lower case that would be a typo. You may feel you would be unable to watch and learn from ceremonies without feeling the yoke of other religions but I do not have that problem. I do not worship other gods but do want to know what other cultures believe so I can understand their ways of thinking. I accept your warnings as coming from someone with a sense of need to state what God has commanded.
So obviously, if you hold membership, you aren't understanding this mission of the Order. If you do not hold membership, I ask how you may know of this? We utilize mystery to emphasize the aforementioned mission, not to be secret. Make it a great day or not, the choice is yours
I was a Scout in the Late 70's and early 80's in New Jersey, and I absolutely loathed the OA and all it stood for. The idea of an organization within the BSA that said 'we are the elite of Scouting, because we said we are.' was an anathema to everything that I believed that Scouting stood for. When I was chosen by my peers for the 'honor' of joining, I turned it down flat because of the attitude that I encountered in interactions with numerous OA members over a number of years. Several times, during Scout camp and various other events, I actually had OA members try to 'pull rank' on me because, although we were both the same rank, the fact that they were OA and I wasn't placed them above me on some unwritten hierarchy. The final straw for me came during a Klondike Derby, when confronted by one of these self-important individuals who thought that he could tell me and my patrol what to do because, even though we were both Stars, he was OA, I pulled out the Scout Handbook and asked him to point out where in the book that his silly white sash put him above an equal ranked Scout. His reply was "But I'm Order of the Arrow..." My reply of "Well, I'm Order of the Fist, lets see if your sash can stop my five digits" was not well received. I was read the riot act by an adult leader not even of my troop, but another of the OA Schutzstaffel that I should listen to those in the OA as they were the elite of Scouting. This caused me to finish the Klondike with my troop and then immediately go to my Scoutmaster and tell him that I appreciated all he did for me as a man, but I was done with Scouting as it was developing its own little 'Brownshirt' movement, and I wanted nothing more to do with an organization that encouraged such elitism in a group that was supposed to judge boys on their Scouting accomplishments, not that they had joined 'The Party'. That was the last time I was ever involved in Scouting and I never looked back. I am very sad that the years have only seen a strengthening of the power of the OASS. Sad for Scouting.
I have studied it, a lot actually. All of the Indian lore used is just lore. The OA doesn't teach kids to believe any Indian creation stories, or any other religion. It is a youth-run organization that promotes cheerful service does just that.
Being whispered, I was never really clear about the admonition, but the word and the meaning do look right. Practically speaking, I have no one to tell anyway.
@fermi911 What is surprising about a broken arrow ceremony ? , and If you recall, the brotherhood ceremony is more or less explained prior to one going through it, and no candidate is required to continue the ceremony, they can withdraw at any time Yours in cheerful service, Rcortese211
I am not an Atheist. Though I would like to share with you that, Atheism is not the belief in nothing. A true Atheist is a person that believes that if diety does exist, man is not wise enough to know of their existence.
@fermi911 I admit I am interested I was interested before I even joined but I actually told people like you who tried to tell me to "Shut up" I have enjoyed everyminute of it let me ask you this why do we wear boy Scout uniform, Why did we choose the name Eagle, Scout, why do we hold up 3 fingers in the scout sign because each has a meaning. you ask why are their "secrets" well one reason is because it makes people curious and if the only way to find out is to join then they will do just that.
lot of it good information for the newbie and parents but please take off the end part if some every go thur there brotherhood or vigil make less enjoyable so please change the end rest ok ( vigil member my self)
..I stand here before watching a video I see now.....voice silent. Anger non. I am neither scout nor civilian. I have done my hardships.....I have climbed my mountains. I have did all of this....for the sa [since it's scouts of America now] yet no sign of gratitude was shown. I had been repeatedly fucked again. Again again and again by the ones i trusted and the one I had to call my patrol leader. I am glad this is posted. Because it gives me a reason to see what would it of been like. If I still kept working....would I be here? Would I be at a lodge doing a winter's camp....its far I can see...my younger self and ancestors calling me...but I cross no further. My motivation was of the oa. I had did my best and tried and tried again but my voice fell of the deafest of ears....so I left TO HELL WITH THEM......so from me. To you...and to everyone here....there is no need for pain....there Is no need to push a boulder...like Sisyphus....if you are being held back....leave....abandon those insecurities and rage you feel within your heart...and those who are still here and who are a part of the sa....do not feel violated....do not feel destroyed....feel proud that you made a legacy on secrets....but understand this would happen....so no neeed... no need too take down this video....cause you have ex scouts who understand why you do this
You take the words "Freedom of Speech" to liberally. I was a member of the BSA and the OA (Eagle Scout and Vigil Honor, respectively). I have fought for what this country stands for, and you use it as a mockery left for interpretation. Freedom isn't a right, it's an honor. I am proud to have been an Eagle Scout and Vigil Honor member of the OA. The organization does wonderful things. I'm sure you can say that there are pockets of drugs everywhere, including the BSA.
Why on earth would you post this? The mystery of the ceremonies, and the braving the unknown is what makes the Order of the Arrow more than just some organization. Without the secrecy of the OA, its spirit wouldn't be passed on from each generation!
That's not the point of the Order of the Arrow. I'm a Vigil Honor member, and the OA is about service. It's not supposed to be "scary". The Ordeal is a test to see whether or not you are worthy, not torture. And you don't join, you're elected in by your fellow troop members.
There are no secrets in the OA. The OA is just full of mystery. That is what it is all about. Mystery, brotherhood, cheerfullness, and service. As a Brotherhood member, I will tell you that this video should have never have been posted. Cause now you have ruined the mystery, and the experience for the potential canidates that have watched this. I am very dissappointed to know that a brother of our order ruined that experience for so many people.
@Cole2654 its just a way the bsa organization uses to keep loyalty and to keep the better educated from dropping out its nothing but a fraternity its redundant by say its a service oriented when the whole establishment is service oriented so there is no purpose for oa
And, in post script, no one ever said that you had to participate in the Boy Scouts of America, or the Order of the Arrow. You do not have to support it. But, you must be respectful of the people who do. We allow you to say woefully misguided things about our organization, you can't be upset when we criticize your reasoning.
Why have you written letters to Vigil Candidates as a brotherhood member? The vigil seeks it's own and once those who decide know you are trying to get it you will never get it. As someone who received his vigil much to his surprise I can never think of having to write a letter other than for brotherhood.
As to the Characters, they are actually based on the Principles in Free Mason ceremonies. In fact, the ceremonies are actually a reverse mirror image. This was done intentionally, as the person who wrote the scripts was not an arrowman but a Free Mason.
I am making no pretense. I have no hate for Christians, or the God they choose to worship. I simply don't agree with the philosophy of it. Many of my close friends are indeed pastors, and other such religious leaders. In addition, I never said they would agree that I feel there are superior religions, but they would differ that the BSA is in fact founded on Judeo-Christian philosophy and ideology.
Why is it difficult to respect that some individuals hold to the pledges they have taken. It is disrespectful, and it takes away from the efforts of those who have worked for these honors. It's not just adults that can see this, but youth as well. Please be considerate that your actions have effects. They affect more than just yourself.
If you've ever taken the time to read the OA Handbook it clearly says to not speek of what goes on in the OA to non-arrow members. You made a comment where you said "Only if they look it up, and if they do, then they are obviously not worthy of the OA". Well maybe you should do the right thing instead of hoping other people will, because if you can dishonor our traditions without even feeling guilty about it YOU do not deserve to be in The Order of the Arrow.
A MIRROR IS FOR ONE THAT IS INSECURE, AND SCARED. LOOMANIODS ARE NONE OF THESE. BUT, WE DO NOT STAND IN FRONT OF TRAINS AS EARTH PEOPLE DO. WE LIKE YOUR EARTH CUSTOMS, SO, HAPPY NEW HALLOWEEN YEAR, AND MERRY 4TH OF JULY, HAVE A BARB-Q CHRISTMAS DINNER.
Ours is a brotherhood of honored campers. We humbly attempt, to bear the burden, of exemplifying the finest points of scouting. I encourage all scouts to make their own decisions about the worth of the O.A. It pains me greatly to read that there is an eagle who has never even been a part of our brotherhood. Indeed the rarest or highest award in scouting is by far (statistically) the vigil honor in the order of the arrow, as it is something that only your fellows can award you, and not a matter of checking off requirements in a handbook. As someone who was Allowat Sakima for many years and in all levels, i remember the Chieftain who lead before me saying, that the O.A. is at it's heart ,an awareness among brothers of work that has already been done. For as long as scouting has existed there have been moments wherein two separate patrol leaders have looked across a campsite and shared a recognition of leadership, brotherhood, and cheerful service. The O.A. is for those who have looked across that campsite. It is for those that have already recognized that they humbly lead because they are nominated by their brethren, for he who servers his fellows, is of all his fellows, greatest.
You misunderstand what the OA is about. It is a society to honor those who strive in cheerful service to their fellows. A scout has a duty to be reverent to whatever higher power they so choose. Down talking an organization is not considerate, especially as you don't appear to have a working knowledge of how the organization works.
I would agree, and I will keep myself alert to those details of the ceremonies becoming more rigurous in their effort to force myself to participate. However I still see this as a great way to see into the ceremonies of an order or culture of peoples ways of life and worship.
I am failing to see where the OA uses Allowat Sakima as a God. Any references to a divine spirit in Meteu's prayers are made to the "Great Spirit" which is meant to apply to people from any religion. While it may appear to be a secret organization. If you ask an adviser, they will answer you. Still, the mystique of the customs and traditions makes the experience that much more meaningful. If you know what is going to happen during the brotherhood ceremony, most of the meaning is lost.
Professor Plzcheese ask some one in your lodge or you can try to work it out by reading your OA hand book. sorry i am not posting what WWW means on the internet, i hope you understand.
Mike429 agreed WWW Pretty much work work work 😂but all jokes aside he's not a real member the sash and all the oa badges mean nothing if u don't live by the principles
I have been involved in OA ceremonies for nearly a decade now and still do not see any trace of evidence that supports your claim. Allowat and the other characters are merely personifications of the principles upon which the order was founded.
Tbh this is actually creepy they have passwords? It wont be ruining an experience for me, I'm a scout from the UK and the scout association would not let anything like this happen. Secrets should not exist. Sure there are units that you can join or be chosen for, like if you are a Queen's Scout or a Unit going to the next World Scout Jamboree, but it would never be secretive. Sure it's exhilarating to know that your secrets are kept amongst yourselves but people arent gonna let their kid join if they don't know what happens in it and theres always been worries that funny things go on in Scouts, I know in Ireland there is stuff, but even though none of that goes on, I wouldn't let my kid join something like that! I wouldn't trust it. I would ask for full transparency so I know what they are signing up for.
I understand some of the concerns, but remember, the fact that the OA is mostly unknown to those outside scouting, is exactly WHY members should uphold their oaths and keep this "secret". If it doesn't matter to those outside of the organization, don't publish it. It does matter to those inside of organization, and I could go on about the technical and moral aspects of keeping our oaths as arrowmen, but I shall refrain and keep this on a practical level. The youth, that's why. The youth in scouting should have an interest in the honor society, and it should reflect a notion of honor and pride. It means something to be an OA member. These events, these ceremonies, these "secrets" forge memories and experiences that are priceless. It should be protected, and as scouts, we should honor our oaths and vows. That is, after all, the backbone of scouting. a brand new scout must learn the south oath and law before he's ever even heard of the Order of the Arrow. Should we just brush the oath and law aside as well, and say it does not matter?
+Matthew Kennedy I agree the mystery is part of the experience but it did freak me out until I did it and now I am glad it had its "secrets" it kept me on my toes not knowing what to expect
And lastly, your freedom of speech as granted by the first amendment does not allow you to purposefully attempt to slander and provide false testimony against someone else. The BSA has it's core values directly derived from Judeo-Christian principles. You warn against nothing. Other people also have a right to their own religion, as granted by the same amendment allowing you to spew nonsense. Their are limits to your freedom, please learn what they are, as is your civic duty.
@hotmustche if you are not in the OA and want to know what goes on. or if you are thinking about joining but want to know what you will have to do. and yes you can say it aloud. of you do a search for order of the arrow jumpstart and enter the password "obligation" and look under the heading brotherhood then go to the subsection challanges, select option 1 memorize.... you can find a audio clip of the admonition. pronounced ah-hoe-ALTON [as in brown] hope this helps.
How dare you dishonor your self and your brothers. The order is not a secret society but you have to go through the paper work so that the wisdom of the order is only given to those who deserve it. You sicken me that even after you took an obligation, which is a solemn promos that we trusted would never be broken, you still did this.
You assert that 1) the Boy Scouts of America is a cult.- This is slander. 2) You assert that your religion is superior to other religions and thus is the only religion that should be given weight. This violates the First Amendment Freedom of Exercise clause. 3) The Jews are God's chosen people, and you slander the people hand picked by your God. Your freedom is not violated. I simply have a far better understanding of the First Amendment.
You will have to understand that I feel I can observe a ceremony from time to time for a religion other than mine to better understand our differences.
HEY why would you dishonor the OA like that it is a trade secrets, listen if you are truly a scout remember the scout lay one of the laws is "loyal" you are being disloyal to the Order of the Arrow And i am about to go through my Ordeal myself and i am so exited about it and wounder what is going to happen and you ruin it, do u want to be remember as the one to give out our secrets to young members of the BSA who are exited about and cant wait now they have nothing to be exited for
"It has always been led by the false god Alowat and was created by The Masons." First it is Allowat, and referencing him to free masonry as a "God" is unsubstantiated, therefore reported as a violation.
While this video does not comply with the oath that was taken when joining the OA, I don't think it matters, because this guy is probably just a guy that's salty about not getting elected, and is trying to "ruin" it by not making it as special. I say this, because of how many incorrect things there are in here, and it appears that the maker has little knowledge of the actual OA, or many other things would have been included.
Freedom of speech is not the issue. It's a matter of respecting the people that hold and value the pledges of the obligations taken. Show respect.
Thanks!

John Galt you should be commended
this may be wrong but there's nothing we can do about the legality of it.
+John Ryan lel you said may so it technically isn't wrong or right it is neutral
It just isn't right, but nothing can be done about taking this video down.
John Ryan whats not right about putting concerned scouts and parents to ease so they will join OA? I had the same fears and didn't see this till 2 years after my ordeal.

I have sent this video to my Scout Executive and he will be notifying National to have this removed
7 years later and still up. How's that going for you?
A Scout is Loyal
I agree with that last guy
The OA is not a cult. The reason these things are withheld from the participants is so that, when they experience them, the whole experience has more meaning. The Order of the Arrow is a service-based organization that does good for the community. Not some secretive cult.
this shit should not be free to public
@fermi911 no you cant say the admonition out loud
Or what?
Christianity is not the only faith recognized by the Boy Scouts of America. The reference to a dragon is an analogy for the fact that I am skilled at starting fires.

You realize there is no such thing as not making Brotherhood. As soon as you sign up you are going to pass.
@fermi911 Your Scoutmaster should NOT have decided that you were a WORTHY candidate.
So why would a parent need to know the vigil stuff, most people get it when they are over 21, and only a handful get it before they are 18?
@fermi911 Note the person supporting you used there judgement to cuss in a public place... A scout is clean.

Whats the point of this????...He didn't spill the whole cup...relax brothers...he just tipped it..if THIS is truly an arrowman..I'd be dead right now
+Billy Secrest lol you make us sound like the illuminati
+Professor Plzcheese haha I suppose I did. .. it's all love though. ..the brotherhood is fine. ..
Billy Secrest sadly the only group cults like that are Scientology and the Freemasons
U shoulndt have posted it but i forgot the passwords so thank you
Why is it difficult to respect that some individuals hold to the pledges they have taken.
Fuck, now I know the watchwords :C, whatever, I'll just wait until I get nominated for vigil, I'm no gonna look up the script.. so I guess it's good.
A scout is obedient. OA secrets are to be secrets
Did I say any thing about "false gods"?

"a brotherhood of honored campers"
That is so hilarious. Oh, how it pains you greatly. Grow the hell up you twit.
+MrIHADANACCOUNT yea, he's definitely the one who needs to grow up not the kid insulting everyone for no reason
I see what you did there
You misunderstand what the OA is about. It is a society to honor those who strive in cheerful service to their fellows. A scout has a duty to be reverent to whatever higher power they so choose. Down talking an organization is not considerate, especially as you don't appear to have a working knowledge of how the organization works.
You know your not supposed to put this information on the internet. There is a reason why it is a "secret".
Boy scouts molested little boys. Is that your idea of secret?
Jack Rubens Nope. That would be something that would need to be reported to the police.
Who the hell liked this video???
Those who defend free speech
I would wonder about any guy that has seen porn and didn't like it. There are very few out there.
You shouldn't be an OA Brother if you will not follow the rules. Your fellow brothers have shunned you.

Tsoiotsi Tsogalii Lodge 70
This is so much how my lodge does the ordeal. I looked up this video because i couldn't hear Allowat Sakima when he told me the admonition
As a OA mamber I fell that you have given your self up and you our no longer a OA member do to your archons WWW
+Mike429 WWW?
Professor Plzcheese ask some one in your lodge or you can try to work it out by reading your OA hand book. sorry i am not posting what WWW means on the internet, i hope you understand.
Mike429 agreed WWW Pretty much work work work 😂but all jokes aside he's not a real member the sash and all the oa badges mean nothing if u don't live by the principles
remove please if you are really in OA and you care
I would ask for full transparency so I know what they are signing up for.
....it does give off the "drink the koolaid" vibe with the passwords
Some people just want to watch the world burn
@gldnjones why do i have no "No integrity and no honor"?
@hotmustche if you are not in the OA and want to know what goes on.
or if you are thinking about joining but want to know what you will have to do.
and yes you can say it aloud. of you do a search for order of the arrow jumpstart and enter the password "obligation" and look under the heading brotherhood then go to the subsection challanges, select option 1 memorize....
you can find a audio clip of the admonition. pronounced ah-hoe-ALTON [as in brown]
hope this helps.
How dare you dishonor your self and your brothers. The order is not a secret society but you have to go through the paper work so that the wisdom of the order is only given to those who deserve it. You sicken me that even after you took an obligation, which is a solemn promos that we trusted would never be broken, you still did this.
... which makes it nothing more than a popularity contest.
TheCornflake76 not necessarily
+SirStarDazzle if he didn't get elected, how does he know his stuff?
