      Alex French Guy Cooking Those turkey burners have infinitely adjustable propane regulators on them that allow MASSIVE amounts of fire. I put one on my regular gas grill (which they advise you expressly not to do) to properly sear steaks. I'd also imagine I wouldn't have any problem using a wok directly on the grill either... From the factory it's rated at, I think, 75,000btu across all 3 burners and I'm confident I can at least doubled that, so 50,000 btu/ea.
      More food for thought!

    Nice project. Ever noticed how the power output of these stoves drops during use? That's due to the adiabatic expansion of the gas cooling down the canister(s) and dropping the pressure. You'd actually have to heat the canister to compensate for that so the stove might work better without the heat shielding.

    you can get a wok stand from any Asian grocery store and you can purchase a dual source burner which can use either butane or propane. I use mine like an indoor barbecue similar to Korean style using an indoor stovetop grill. Have you considered a hydrogen fuel cell to generate hydrogen gas to cook with. Will give you higher temperatures.

    You should have a nozzle made off brass right before the circular nozzle, as you can see at 4:05. It should be enough to enlarge it to 1 or 1,5 mm for more gas flow.

    • @FrenchGuyCooking
      @FrenchGuyCooking 7 років тому +3

      Ferdi G. Interesting but why brass ?

    • @azaanow2327
      @azaanow2327 7 років тому

      I am also wondering why you would use brass when it is such a soft metal it would probably melt

    • @ferdi93ferdi
      @ferdi93ferdi 7 років тому +3

      Alex French Guy Cooking well, brass is easy to turn and not very expensive. most fittings, valves or nozzles for gas and waterpipings are made of brass.
      also it doesnt corrode or rust.

    • @ferdi93ferdi
      @ferdi93ferdi 7 років тому +3

      WyvernKiller02 nope it wont melt, it just acts as a flow limiter. The flame never "touches" the brass nozzle. Also brass has a pretty high melting point of up to 950 °C

    Wow, great design. Came here after trying to build a proper wok stand from a camping stove and an old chopping board. I made the holes in the supporting ring too small, the flame died in seconds. So I'm pretty sure they're not to let heat out, as Is said in the video, but to let CO2 escape. Next up is trying to add more oxygen by a fan, if anyone has tried this pls share

    Though it may not necessarily be a problem, I do think a small warning or instruction for any modifications using stainless parts appropriated from other functionalities would be appropriate just in case of galvanized parts. You don't want people burning off a zinc coating indoors in an enclosed space if they don't even know it's a possibility.
