Wladimir Klitschko 55-3 (49 KOs) vs. David Haye 25-1 (23 KOs)
Klitschko entered as world heavyweight champion and the # 5 pound-for-pound fighter, according to The Ring Magazine. Haye, a 1.75/1 betting underdog , was ranked as the # 2 contender by the same publication, behind only Wladimir and his brother Vitali.
Haye had signed to fight Wladimir in June 2009, but pulled out shortly before the fight. Later in 2009, he negotiated a deal with Vitali, but did not sign the contract he had agreed to and instead secretly negotiated to face Nikolay Valuev, the titleholder Haye eventually outpointed to claim the WBA Heavyweight Title.
In preparation for the bout, Haye primarily sparred with the 6'8 and then-unbeaten David Price.
Klitschko and Haye agreed to a 50-50 split of the purse and Haye was allotted 7000 seats at the venue.
Ticket prices for the bout ranged from 50-1500 Euros (Official Ticket).
William Hill were expecting to turn over £5million for the fight.
The crowd was reported to be over 61,000.
An estimated audience of 500 million viewers worldwide watched the main event.
The fight averaged 15.56 million viewers in Germany with 67.0 market share. It peaked at 16.28 million viewers with 75.7 share.
The fight was watched by a total 21 million people in Ukraine.
It also drew record-breaking 1.17 million PPV buys in the United Kingdom.
In Poland, the bout averaged almost 3.4 million households, which translates to roughly 5-6 million average viewers.
The event reportedly had a $25 million gate.
Both Klitschko and Haye earned $24 million for the fight.
HBO's Harold Lederman scored the bout 117-109 and ESPN's Dan Rafael 118-108; both in favor of Klitschko.
Haye's superhero nickname "Captain Bellyflop"
Both brothers is underrated.
Non-performance by Haye. The few moments he got aggressive and even a bit wild, he saw some success. But those spurts were rare and unsustained. Why? Because Haye felt a few Klitschko right hands and knew that if he opened up and went for it, he was going to get knocked unconscious. He was more concerned about the fear and humiliation of being knocked out than trying to win, and fought accordingly. Not Klitschko's best performance, but still an absolute schooling and boxing lesson administered by him to the impertient Haye.
I actually found that fight was Wlads best performance
@@ppshchik Interesting. Why? He clearly outboxed Haye and won the fight, but most of his landed jabs were point-scoring, not damaging and he landed few power punches. To me, WK's best performances involved him wearing his opponent down with that punishing left jab and landing a straight right or left hook in the middle to later rounds that put them to sleep; little of that happened against Haye.
i forgot just hoq bad roy jones was in the booth for this one lol.
Anything is better than George Foreman. What an idiot.
He is always bad… lot of times he is just biased and sour about certain fighters. Merchant was spot on about this fight (particularly about Haye), even before fight itself started😂
Un antes un después de esta pelea Klischko entro en la historia de los pesos pesados.
Kinda boring

We all know his toe was hindering him😅
Groves in the stands.. that's support
You can never beat Haye when he is fully fit. Disgracefull behaviour, lack of sportsmanship,
?😂 are you on drugs bro?😂 he was running away doing nothing all the fight😂 that little toe limited him? 😂 many fighters fought with broken fists, arms etc and even won the fights😂 Haye was and always will be celebrity bluffer.
@@pavolkrajcovic745not really. we just watched Cedric Doumbe take a horrible loss because he had a toe injury too.
Wladimir is a wonderful person, a complete sweetheart in person. Did some work with him years ago, a commercial. What a blast he was!
You're a nobody mate.
Klitschko brothers have always been humble and restrained AF. They both have a meditative while their brains are calculating their opponents' punishment. Hate kept taking micro naps throughout though😅. There you go Brits! Loud doesn't mean proud.
Why did Haye raise his hands in the air at the end?
Because he broke the world record for most time spent lying on the ground during a fight
@@A.M......😂😂😂
He took so many naps, he woke up after round 12 thinking he won in the end 😂
Larrys a savage 😂
Why was haye cosplaying a hotdog?
Buffer: David Haye is not ready to come to the ring. Also Larry Merchant: Some say David Haye was not ready for this fight for some years😂 Larry knew what kind of bluffer Haye is.
in which universe should that have been a knock down? HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA 1:22:42
