    I took 6 Aggradons with Clubs in a game last night (proxies on TTS). Top of round 2 I charged them into: 10 Nurgle Chaos Warriors, 5 Khorne Chaos Knights and a Daemon Prince. After three combat phases they were at full rage, I’d lost just two Aggradons and all that was left of those units was a single chaos warrior. Stonks in my book.

    The rule "Primal rage" would become immediatly interesting if It was at the START of the comabt phase.

      Or if it only went back to zero at the end of your combat phase. Then at least we could control putting them into combat a bit. As of right now opponents can just retreat out.

      Or just at the end of YOUR combat phase. Lets you re-charge retreating units or holding up your rage by jumping into another enemy.

    Another great in-depth video! Gift of the Heavens CA (if taking a Slann) shouldn't be overlooked for adding flying to the double moving aggros, can get over screens and into the primary targets. The +1 to save against shooting also helps against unleash hell when charging in

    The Aggradon Lancer's Primal Rage is designed to help the unit when fighting large blocks of infantry or a hefty monster/mounted hero. The Lancers are not a go around the flanks and attack from the flanks or rear. The are really line breakers.

    Buckled and finally got a Army Box Tome, just for the regular release to finally happen, I want the regular tome so much more haha.
    But does mean i've been able to watch your videos without spoiling it. Yeah I can see the Hero Aggradon maybe being a bit eh, but they're replacing the Knights, so i'll likely run both just as soon as I get my pre-order boxes sorted. Scar Vet and 6 Aggradons for starters. Though seeing you talk about the 9, definitely makes me want another box soon. Even if it's 6/3 I end up going with.
    I'll be using my old sculpt warriors for a while yet due to funds. But I'm glad to have something new to paint.

    I'm scrolling through the video at work without audio, I like what you did here. In WHFB, hand weapon/shield was almost always better because of the ward save but in a skirmish game like AoS I think the reach of spears is nice if the damage is within 1 wound.
    Ease of transport is almost always my chief concern these days LOL 😄

      Haha yep! I always try to angle spears parallel to the ground so they fit better in my travel cases!

    For the Scaly Skin narrative I see it as the 1 damage attack having already passed the trials to make a telling blow(Hit, Wound, Saves) so even a humble Grot spear got lucky enough to find a gap between scales. It’s the other scales around it that get in the way to make sure that’s the only part of the strike that’ll pierce their flesh.

    Hi there! Thx for the video, it's awesome as always!
    Just wanted to mention one thing as this is the second time I see you explaining it like this: when reinforcing them twice, afaik you could have a line of seven at the front, and only use two to make a triangle on each side. That's how we've always played it with my friends, so I was wondering whether we were wrong or this is indeed legal.

    So much doom and gloom in the comment section. I remember last book when people complained all over the place over how terrible the book seemed, and it turned out to be the most busted overpowered book they ever released.
    Aggradons seems ok. Primal Rage is a little clunky but they are fine without it. Good damage output with buffs but a little too slow for their role of hammer cav. They are a little wierd in the way they function; a cav unit with no charge bonus (outside sub fac) and a big bonus to damage for staying in grindy combats. I think it would be just as interesting to see how much defence you can stack on them, as that seems to fit their role better as a grinder unit.
    Something important to consider when picking clubs vs spears for all saurus units is that there is plenty of -2 to hit in the game or -1 to hit and roar effects (GSG, DoT, HoS, LRL, IDK just to name a few), and the difference between hitting on 4s and 5s is huge.

    Thanks Caleb for this useful video as always ! Do you think the 125 pts of the new salamander is really a thing ? I mean, one shot to try to have the -1 save except the fact that this could some damage as well and it's an okay melee. I find it a bit dicey.

    can you make a 2000 list video? played at 1k and it seems like it doesn't scale down well unlike 40k thats just my opinion so im looking for tips to get me to 2000 love the content

    Primal rage might be good in the double turn. Charge the aggrodons into a blob of infantry,let them build rage. When you get the double, pull them out with telepathic summons amd charge something more valuable. They still have the rage as they were in range of enemies at the end of last turn. With the aggradon hero they'd have 2 rage points still.

    if the scarvets roar rage buff was increase rage by d3 instead of flat 1 it would be a more desireably unit but for it being 60$ i would rather buy another box of aggrodon lancers fore the same price or for 30 more get a scar-vet on carnosaur

    Hearing these discussions around Raptadon Hunters, Engine of the Gods, and Primal Rage makes me wonder what the plays testing was like. Sometimes is hard for me to understand their vision with these mechanics. This is starting to look like another book with internal balance issues.

      A lot of these abilities look like things that could easily be overpowered with slight changes. So it makes me wonder if they weren't play testing different version and then we end up with the terrible versions we have because those were op and so they were changed into play testing. Primal rage, for example, could easily be pretty incredible if you just change the timing of when it powers up and when it resets to zero.

    i really want to use them since model is crazy good. but they are way too bad, rule should be +1 count when they charge and loose 1 count( not all) on every turn they arent in combat. and getting a buff for charging.
    right now you only have to compare them to vampires, for measly 20p they have more armor, more movility, heal when kills, and do like 5 more dmg in average....
    actual rules are 180points at best, not 210 for sure.
    and hero version is even worse, it does exactly half the damage than most of mounted heros does,and his utility is cloose to useless, once per game??? it should have been once per turn minimun. or an aura where agradons keep his charges even outside combat, that would made him maybe usable.
    agradons dont really have an use, melee chikens do waaaay more dmg per point, and they arent tanky neither with only 4 armor.

      It says on the warscroll you can have one for every three models in the unit.

    @caleb: What impact does it have on a list if you make the Scar-Vet on Aggradon the general and alpha strike with him and 2 units of Aggradon Lancers, possibly reinforced, and pop his rage bonus on turn 1? What kind of damage potential do you think that would allow for? Would it suck to have the little guy as general? 🤷🏻‍♂️.
    I’m new to AoS but love this faction and want to make the Aggradons work on the table. Thanks sharing all your thoughts with us through your videos!!!!❤

      The Scar-Vet helps some, not a whole lot, but does help. Basically +1 attacks for the Aggradons bites. If you are sending in a bunch of Aggradons and a Carno won't fit in the list points wise, the Scar Vet is a good addition.

    Wouldn’t you be able to “run” this unit D6 during the hero phase movement as well? Since it says normal movement?

      I don't think a 'normal move' is a 'run move' they are different by name. So when something can make a 'normal' move it can't run for that move.

    On primal rage, I don't think it will be about failing to kill your target, I think it will be more about a weird incentive to pile-in and tag other enemy units into combat. So you can charge and kill a main target and hopefully still have an enemy screen or support hero in combat. They can still retreat, so it still seems pretty bad. Or your cavalry is locked into combat with a support hero or screen... so I don't get it.

      Agreed. But if it incentivizes a second unit moving off an objective… Ideally you tag two units and delete the tough one and make the other move off or get their faces mauled.

      The other implied benefit is that if they retreat, you’ll charge on your turn with +1 to wound.
      And it adds survivability by encouraging retreat.
      I think the ability will have a nice impact on gameplay even when it doesn’t trigger.

    so i wouldnt count out the scar vet on aggradon. did a game vs khorne this past week. needed to feed skarbrand for a turn so that he wouldnt be at bottom bracket when i could get my carnosaur oldblood in next turn to take him out, and the scar-veteran was my best choice seeing as how he already killed the lancers. Popped that primal rage buff and i think i gave him empowered celestite as well.
    Did 14 of skarbrand's 15 wounds in a single round of combat. Admitedly counter-productive to my intent at keeping skarbrand out of bottom bracket, but he far exceeded my expectations. it was only because of a positioning misplay on my end that skarbrand was able to reach my lancers to begin with. if my lancers had gotten to skarbrand on their own terms, im not sure they would have even needed the primal rage buff from the scar veteran to take care of him themselves. Im trying out the scar-veteran with the sotek's gaze relic to take and hold flank objectives and force my opponent to commit heavy resources into dealing with them. a wave of zombies, clanrats, or bloodletters like what i face in my local meta just wont cut it against the scar veteran.

    As it’s written now, couldn’t you theoretically telepathic summons your unit of Aggrodons out of combat, into combat with another unit effectively daisychaining their primal rage? 😮

    The rage score should reset only at the end of your combat phase and that ability would be really cool. You'd basically try to hop from combat right into combat, keep on raging on.

    Coalesced: Koatl's Claw
    -Scar-Vet on Aggro with blade of realities and thick scales.
    -3 units of reinforced aggradons with spear.
    -3 units of Krox Warspanned.
    1990 points.

    Loved the damage breakdown of clubs vs spears at the base unit of 3. Does the math change a bit when reinforced? Does reach of the spears come into the effect particularly?

    Are Agradons even worth it? Everything in this book seems rather bad, except for Kroak, Astrolith dude and the Saurus Warriors. So many units have hilariously bad and cumbersome rules, like Primal Rage. Love the models, but damn do the rules not get me excited at all.

      Aggradons can be your flanking units used to pin down things either in combat with your carno or your warriors, running a full list of them seems not a good idea, however one MSU or two can do the job for not that much cost 🤔

      yes, exactly, i have been saying it since release, kroak is op,astrolyth is good, and saurus are ok( still worse than chaos warriors). everything else has totally useless rules like engine, agradons,spawn,kroxis etc or are way overpriced like estegadons or bastiladons.
      only hope despite seraphon doing ok with kroak lists gw still balance the remaining book with massive points drops.

      @@mypointofview777 haha no chance of that, lumi book was same as previous book with 3 or 4 new scroll pages added.
      and im sure we will get a new edittion in 1 year or so.
      priblem is, kroak list will be competitive, maybe even too good so people will think whole book is op like always ,seraphon has lot of haters dont know why. and gw wont buff the others things since we wil lhave 1 good list.
