    I would suggest if you haven’t already that you reconsider that little bracket you made for the negative to the red vision shunt. I would remove it and get the correct lug put on the cable. When you have potentially 220+ amps going through the system you want it working as well as possible.

      Good pick up.
      It definitely has enough material to flow whatever the inverter requires, so that isn't the issue. I think it could possibly be a safety thing though, since its a large area of exposed steel that is carrying a heavy load through it.
      To put a new lug on the cable would also require adding 500mm or so of cable in order to keep everything tidy and safe, which would add voltage drop.
      I will reassess the bracket after a few trips of use and see how it goes. Definitely isn't perfect but for the situation it works.
      Cheers

    Did you end up conne ting the double power outlets?

      Hi mate, no I haven't put a permanent outlet in yet. I have run an extension cord to the side of my drawers with a double adapter head on it. I find this to be quite versatile, and means that I Haven't got a permanent fixing to fill with dust or dog hair.
      In time I would love to have a hard mounted socket, but it's pretty low on my to do list at the moment.

    Quick question, how loud does your 2000w inverter get when under load? The fans on mine start to spin like an airplane takeoff only after 150-180W of load… from what it looks in the manual fans on these are load adjusted rather than thermally adjusted which is a bummer. It really gets unbearably loud for me.

      Hi mate, yean any light loads don't seem to trigger the cooling fans in the inverter. Its only if I'm pulling around 60+ Amps that it seems to kick in. Not rediculously loud but not quiet either.
      The new Redarc RS3 inverters are meant to be a lot quieter now

    Thanks for this video
    Was also watching rear bar vid
    I noticed you have maxxis 295/70/r17, happy with them a spare fit underneath no worries?
    I’ve just worn out bf 285/70/r17 and thinking of same tyre as you, I’ve a 2inch OME lift. VX kdss
    Should be ok u think?

      Yeah the spare still fits fine as a 295/70/17, just needs to go in as square as possible so it doesnt catch on anything.

    Hi - do you always require an auxillary battery near the inverter or could you run the inverter off cables from the batteries in the engine bay?

    • @offroadcrusader
      @offroadcrusader  7 місяців тому +1

      You could run it off the aux battery in the engine bay, but the length of wiring you would need to overcome voltage drop with huge amounts of amps would mean a very thick and expensive cable. Plus if that cable ever rubs on the body at any point over its 6m length and shorts out, it would most definitely mean a fire.
      Keeping the wiring runs short is key, hence why I decided to mount mine within 600mm of the battery.

    Hey mate looking at installing the same inverter what size cable have you used? I dont understand why redarc specify a 250a fuse isnt that much higher than the cable can carry?

    • @offroadcrusader
      @offroadcrusader  6 місяців тому

      Hey mate, I believe its rated for 200A. I got the cables made by an esteemed Autoelectrician local to me, who I think repurposed some winch power cables.
      The Inverter is designed to handle a max output of 2300w, and a max surge of 3500w for 1sec. The 250A fuse would still allow this max surge for 1sec before blowing, while also handling the max output rating. Redarc are infinitely more knowledgable about inverters and fuses, so I am happy to defer to their wisdom on the matter, and follow their recommendations for fuses. Last thing I would want is a fire caused by not following the manufacturers instructions.
      It's a beast of an inverter, and I am still super happy with its performance months on. Hope you enjoy it too!
