Just wanted to say thanks for all the videos. I am new to trapping and have been self taught mainly from watching your videos on you tube. Keep up the good work and i look forward to watching more of your videos. I am from Michigan so a lot of your videos can relate to here. I did catch a 53 pound beaver the other day in a set i learned from watching your vids... Thanks again and keep up the good work.

Wow, what a haul on big beavers. Very nice! Makes me want to dig out the 330s!

Just a tip remove your belisle 330s as soon as you arrive and avoid picking beaver up by the trap if at all possible. Helps prevent bruising on the pelt side and guard hair damage. This will help you with producing the highest pelt quality. great video

@tullysika depends on a alot of things usually around 15 or 20 for beaver and then the work preparing the pelts is what takes so much time

  • @TheWildNorth
    @TheWildNorth  13 років тому +1

@tullysika no hes around i dont bring him along too often wen i am setting and checking traps.i wouldent want him to get killed in a 330 its just not worth it he was back guarding my cabin.

Conibears work great, but sometimes you get a smart beaver that will trip them with a stick, then bury them in mud which can be a real bitch if the mud freezes. Then its time to start with snares.

Again, love the videos. What do you use to carry your gear into the ponds? Pack basket or just a bucket? Do you set on all runs or do you select certain ones? Man, wish we could pick your brain for all the information that is contained there. LOL. Keep them coming Bro.

Some pretty nice sized ones. They are way paler than the ones I get. Some of those locations seem like a real hell hole for walking. are you toting the beaver far? I hope not.
Where's Charlie and what's with the safety crossing guard vests? the season opens the 25 here. Getting antsy for it.
Be safe and film what you can. Thanks.

@Makete100 the only gear i pack really is traps and a machete i rig my traps before is et em so its quick and easy dont really need much gear. i pick the well used runs to set on most my sets are baited so i can set em pretty much anywere.
    thanks for commenting

Do you set with triggers on bottom mostly?
I find it harder and more dangerous to set with triggers on bottom....
its easier to set them on top but the fur gets damaged

Hey man happy to see you back in the game trapping. That's some nice beaver you picked up in first sets of traps, Listen I was just wondering as a Metis did you have to take the trapping course or are you exempt? And did you have to earn points to get a trapline area? Keep up the good work and keep posting videos. Oh how do you post videos when your in the bush, do you use cell service to do so? Take care and keep safe. - Kevin

i think a 220 would kill a smaller beaver without any issues, but the 330's are definitely worth the money. even if you where to get only one, if you made decent sets you could haul in a bunch of beavers in a season at a good swamp.
    What do you think Andrew??

You set with triggers on top for Beaver?
I do too, some say it causes damage, I have yet to see it on mine.
It don't scare them those triggers on top you think?

@logcabinlooms The only time I ever have a problem with beavers burrying my traps, is when they are set too close to the dam and the dam is broke open.
In alot of places in Canada we can't set a snare on land.

never had one break the wire and float away?
I had one lost in a river as I was starting out trapping, I never secured it well and the river carried it downstream....it was lost.

I really have enjoyed watching all your videos and find myself waiting for the newest one. I have a question for you. It seems that alot of the canadian trappers are wearing some sort of chartruse, orange, or blue high vis clothing. What is the reason for it.? Do a lot of you work construction or is this just a coincidence?
