Garmin Forerunner 165 Review

- The Garmin Forerunner 165 is very much Garmin’s response to the Coros Pace 3. It is not a hand-holding watch like the other models in the Forerunner range. This watch cares less about your recovery, less about the general data, and less about guiding you through a training plan. But is begging to be channelled in a specific region of training with a copious amount of data fields readily to roll.

Thank you Fabricio!
Excellent review! Informative and entertaining!!
Much appreciated!
I’m glad I got the Coros Pace 3!
Great Video. I am a beginner and got the 165. All those features about recovery are useless to me. I go run when i feel good. Main reason for a garmin was that all my friends have a Garmin and so we can do challange and thats fun af. I think thats all about as a beginner. GPS in my area is 95% as good as the multi band on the Fenix and 265 of my friends. Battery could be longer if you compare it to the Coros Pace 3 but im getting 10 days with 5 runs in that time. So its fine for me.
Welcome aboard!
Love it! Thank you!!
Any time!
couldn't stand the screen on Coros Pace 3 so I returned it. This watch is what I'm looking at to replace it.
What was the problem with the screen? Im looking at both coros pace 3 and FR 165 rn.
This 165 or coros pace 3 overall?
coros pace 3 or fr 165 is the best value for a beginner runner ?
Pace 3
They add the data like from Stryd.
This review has convinced me to never buy any Garmin watch. If I can't have reliable breadcrumb trail when I'm 36 miles deep in a national park, the watch is useless to me.
This watch isnt for walking in a national park there are other garmin models perfect for hiking and walking with the breadcrum trail and maps
glad i just bought the 255 for 30% less than the 165 😅
thanks for the rev!
yup, they made a Pace 3 down to the last gram!
but instead of a mip they're wasting battery to light up an amoled and they're obviously crippling the poor thing in every aspect they could think of; old gnss, old heart monitors even if decent, old navigation, when they've had better tech for two years at this point.
plus, unless you are in the USofA this thing will probably still be 50-100$ more expensive than the pace.
the 165 was what I was waiting for to make up my mind on a much needed smartwatch. proud 2 week Pace 3 user here!
Thanks for your feedback!
as the latest watch albeit not premium, it's disappointing to see how THICK the bezels still are in 2024!
The thick bezel allows for a larger battery underneath... you could fill that with screen, but then you lose in battery life
Does it have gyroscope?
What for?
Exactly. For what? Why is it needed?
@@marvin7533 Are you guys serious? It improves the tracking accuracy of pretty much every activity in the watch. Why do you think the higher models have one?
Thank you, I could tell it was all gimmick and it was intentional by Garmin so real runners choose their more expensive models. Coros has its shortcomings but at least they offer more useful and comprehensive features in their Pace 3 (same price). If Coros Apex Pro 3 has amoled, Training readiness and more health features, it will be the best running watch.
so, the navigation is useless :(
Running watch with bad GPS ? 😂
