The scenes with Lo and LC about grades are some of the least produced and most real reality tv scenes I’ve seen… I love it. It just feels so different from reality Tv now.

This was a good episode. From Kristen stealing the "hot guy" from the bday girl, Lo trying to negotiate for Lauren then turning on her in the end, the passive aggressive nail salon fiasco and the cringe audition, this is the stuff that made reality TV so interesting. How times have changed *sigh*.
You can really see some of Lauren's inner mean girl. She had less obvious moments on The Hills too, like when she was upset that Whitney was going to Paris again and laughed at her fall. I can see why some of her former castmates like Heidi, Justin Bobby, Kristin, Audrina...well, pretty much everyone lol, say that she's not as infallible as the show made her seem. She's still the best of the bunch though (except for Whitney!).

Christina and Morgan said in that recent zoom reunion they had that the nail salon scene was super cut up from production and wasn’t awkward at all in real life.
Actually they said that it was awkward because they had no idea that LC and Lo were going to show up, hence why they were scared shitless when they arrived.
@@carodecarlo most people do not grow up near "big cities" in order to go on day trips to Broadway or other equivalents - the exceptions would be students who partake is drama classes at their school and attend longer field trips; and, again, most people do not take drama classes. You do highlight a good point - Whitney and Tim were privately educated in Los Angeles and New York respectively, whereas LC (although is a small and wealthy city in the OC) was public school educated: Whitney and Tim's response was, although unintentionally, a very elitist comment to make about an 18 year old school kid.

Christina told them she has an audition with the casting director who casts Wicked, Rent, and Hairspray. Then Lo said, Are you serious? Morgan shouted in the background she's auditioning for Broadway. So Lauren definitely knew it was Broadway since it has been mentioned twice before Lauren asking the question about Wicked. Even if Wicked wasn't out on Broadway yet, Rent and Hairspray has been out so it's not that hard to use deductive reasoning to conclude Wicked is a Broadway show since Morgan mentioned Broadway twice and Christina mentioned it once when talking about about auditioning and two Broadway shows that have been on Broadway already were mentioned besides Wicked.
I see what you’re saying, and I definitely feel Lauren was throwing shade throughout that scene, but with respect to the Wicked question alone, Lauren genuinely seemed like she didn’t know what it was. Even if she deduced it was a musical, it seemed like a clarification question (ie, what kind of show).

Loved this! Whitney seemed so happy and really enjoyed herself! My favourite was her singing the intro. Felt like the beginning of watching the hills when both tim and whit would sing the whole song in different voices.

To be fair to Lauren, wicked only opened in San Fran in like may or June 2003, and then didn’t open on Broadway until like October? So if you weren’t a musical kid, at this time you legit had no idea what wicked was. That was my senior year and we were only starting to hear bits of it and I was very into musicals. The next school year is when it blew up. It was nominated and won in the 2004 tonys which is a year after this was filmed.

I was in Les Mis in elementary school! Lol. We preformed it at an elderly home. We lip synced it and acted it out in costumes. I remember when one of the girls lip synced and acted to “on my own” and someone cried in the audience, it was so sweet. It’s still my favourite broadway 🎭
But I do honestly reckon that they downplay anything that made them look bitchy in any way. Hard to edit or act that tension in the nail salon. Maybe the birthday party was fake but i reckon the producers played it up after their real conversations

Maybe Christina needed that “eye opening” experience. Knowing how good broadway singers are, Christina is no where near that good/experienced (yet!). Their reaction to this bugged me SO MUCH. Like, I never like the unnecessary pettiness towards Lauren, but I ignore it because I enjoy the reviews. But it truly does bug me that they have such harsh reactions for her, and excuse a lot of other behavior from others, knowing that there was way more pressure on Lauren since she was the lead, and she was SO SO young when she did this. Again not judging I think most of is here have drifted a part from a coworker or felt slighted by a friend but its clear that there is some coldness or something beyond just not liking her behaviour on tv and its odd that you haven’t addressed it because most people who watch your Laguna beach and Hills videos come to hear about what it was like behind the scenes so it seems like a missed opportunity to not mention it.

To be fair to Lauren, wicked only opened in San Fran in like may or June 2003, and then didn’t open on Broadway until like October? So if you weren’t a musical kid, at this time you legit had no idea what wicked was. That was my senior year and we were only starting to hear bits of it and I was very into musicals. The next school year is when it blew up. It was nominated and won in the 2004 tonys which is a year after this was filmed.
Yeah I don't think LC was trying to be shady. Wicked was fairly new at this point in time and not as well known mainstream.

I was in Les Mis in elementary school! Lol. We preformed it at an elderly home. We lip synced it and acted it out in costumes. I remember when one of the girls lip synced and acted to “on my own” and someone cried in the audience, it was so sweet. It’s still my favourite broadway 🎭

Maybe Christina needed that “eye opening” experience. Knowing how good broadway singers are, Christina is no where near that good/experienced (yet!). Not sure how her family/friends were with her singing (if they over praised her, etc), but in life, we need to be knocked down sometimes so that we can get back up and do better 🤷🏻♀️

Lol they really felt a certain way about Lauren not knowing about Wicked. It wasn't always mainstream, so she probably really did not know.
Their reaction to this bugged me SO MUCH. Like, I never like the unnecessary pettiness towards Lauren, but I ignore it because I enjoy the reviews. But it truly does bug me that they have such harsh reactions for her, and excuse a lot of other behavior from others, knowing that there was way more pressure on Lauren since she was the lead, and she was SO SO young when she did this. But like I said, I generally ignore it because I enjoy their reactions so much. But the wicked comment was such an obvious unnecessary dig. Wicked had legit not come out yet. It was doing like, previews I think in San Fran at this point and wouldn’t open for like 6 more months in NYC. You didn’t know wicked at this point unless you were a HUGE musical theater nerd. Like the biggest. I’ve made like 10 comments on this now bc it bugged me so much lol.

While Lauren has had many faults on this show and The Hills (the Stephen/Kristin situation, not standing up for Audrina when Lo was being mean), I don't think she was throwing shade at Christina. Not judging just wondering: whats the behind the scenes drama between Whitney and Lauren? I’m not talking about calling out some of her behaviour on the show thats fine and not everyone has to be friend but even while watching the Hills Whitney seems cold/resentful towards Lauren what happened?
Again not judging I think most of is here have drifted a part from a coworker or felt slighted by a friend but its clear that there is some coldness or something beyond just not liking her behaviour on tv and its odd that you haven’t addressed it because most people who watch your Laguna beach and Hills videos come to hear about what it was like behind the scenes so it seems like a missed opportunity to not mention it.

I don't think those girls really get along or like each other that much and they all are aware that. They were just put in an awkward situation in that salon.
