It's a nice area away from people and airports. I like to be close to the Imperial Hwy. bridge if I fly under it because loosing signal and having the drone rise to automatically go home would be very bad. How did your flight go?
I've gone a few times so far, and once right after heavy rains.. high flow under the bridge made it sketchy 😅.. little pucker factor. Haven't had to the chance to edit the footage but will let you know. Great stuff again.
I'd never have the nerve to fly under those low bridges ! Also, I'd hate to be stuck in that traffic (I'm guessing southbound ?). Looked like a really long flight. Cute doggie to finish the video :-)
This was flown with the inexpensive "refurbished" (actually new) ebay P3P which I'll take to Maui because I'm underwhelmed with the Mavic Pro. The pedestrian bridge doesn't freak me out much, but if the Phantom lost signal under the Imperial Hwy. bridge it would Return Home and would go up and crash into the bottom of the bridge. I was about 250 yards east of the bridge so the controller signal would reach. I won't go under obstructions farther away like that sea bridge in Maui. I have to remember where all the power lines are because they're hard to see on the live feed. The 91 freeway always has awful traffic. That was eastbound, toward Corona. Just one more reason I prefer Maui.
The grand exodus coincides with the setting sun .... what a grind ! When I lived in Long Beach I had to drive to Gardena and I had to have 4 different routes planned due to unforeseen backups to get home. Then we moved to Georgia where our commute was almost the exact same distance except we were lucky to see more than 10 cars (in either direction) on our way to and from the office. Unfortunately, north Georgia has grown so much in the last 28 years that it's much like SoCal now ..... one of the reasons I retired early :-) Did you have your range extenders on for this flight ?
Oh, the traffic hours extend beyond traditional rush hour. I often see bumper-to-bumper traffic at 3:00 PM through 9:30 PM. It's crazy and not getting better. Yup, I used the parabolic range extenders.
Dude you are one bad ass drone pilot! That was awesome video.
Thanks!
Nice flying Eric...
Thanks Philip!
Nice... Gonna try and do this spot today too. Nice flight 👏

@@hose_A Glad you made it to the SART. Yes, flying under the bridge is puckery.
