    Great tips esp on the wifi 6 router..I was about to drop some questions on which mesh system I should get: a Deco M5 or a Xiaomi AX3000 for our 2BR 65sqm condo unit. I finally completely understood wifi 6 vs wifi 5.

    Hello, I have a Net Gear AC1750 vR64002 This version doesn't give you the option to select what host to move from 2.45 to 5. My issue is I am trying to do more streaming as TV is getting expensive. I have Prime Video and I experience buffering, delays and other bothersome delays. My Download speed is 220.15 upload is 389.04 when I tested internet speed on providers website. Any tutorials on letting go of traditional to streaming? Also I do not want to rent the providers modem for internet please confirm if I have to purchase my own modem and any recommendations? My family members think the streaming alternative is difficult i need to convert them. Please help me.

      To move a device from one band to the other simply disconnect and reconnect at the device. I have a tutorial on doing QOS on that router in my wireless router setup video. You want to select the device you want to stream to and give it priority.

      Some implementations of QoS are buggy. SmartConnect can get squirrely too. The only way to find out for sure is try turning things on and off and doing your own testing. You have a good router so that should not be a bottleneck. Here's an article on the ins and outs of WMM. robotpoweredhome.com/wmm-on-or-off-for-gaming/

      @@WiFiGuy Thank you so much for your reply. I haven't really tried QoS or anything just connected the router up and that's it. However thanks to you, I'm sure I'll get to the bottom of it.

    I have one last question--which is the main reason I'm watching your videos but got sidetracked as they're so well done. My internet speed is 300+ Mbps when I connect directly to the modem with an Ethernet cable (Cat5e) but drops to 100Mbps when I connect to the wifi router (orange LAN port) via the same Ethernet cable (Cat5e). My wifi router is TP-Link AC1200 (Archer A54) and I just did a firmware update (correct update for correct version) of my wifi router but this didn't fix the issue. I'm the only one on my network and I'm a light user. My wifi tops out @ 100Mbps that's why I'm thinking the wifi router can't handle faster speeds from the ISP. Is it the wifi router that can't go higher than 100Mbps or something in configuration settings?

      Check out the specs of your router. www.tp-link.com/us/home-networking/wifi-router/archer-a54/#specifications

      @@WiFiGuy Aha! My router has 4 Ethernet ports and they're all 10/100 (max out at 100Mbps). Problem solved. I bought the router without knowing what "10/100" meant. Thanks!

    Is a Wifi 6 router overkill if I have a Wifi 6 adapter on my laptop by my ISP plan maxes out at 200 Mbps?

    • @WiFiGuy
      @WiFiGuy  2 роки тому +3

      Going by your last post it will help with your internal speed but won't speed up your ISPs download speed.

  • @age_of_reason

    22:13 My wifi status shows speed of 866.7 Mbps also but when I do a speed test I only get 80-90Mpbs. And I'm only on a 200Mbps plan so how could it be reading 4x the speed?
    Isn't the 866.7 Mbps just the capable speed of the adapter? Because mine shows the same exact speed as yours, 866.7 Mbps, seems like too much of a coincidence.

    • @WiFiGuy
      @WiFiGuy  2 роки тому +3

      The 886.7 is bandwidth available internally (computer to computer). It has nothing to do with download speed from the Internet.
