So, in summary, matching the bpm of the sample to the bpm of the pattern sequencer, then sequencing it as a pattern, will allow you to lock in a perfect in time loop?
That metronome seems off, but I'm not a computer. Tried creating a drum track on pattern mode and it was "straight" annoying AF, and I couldn't adjust the metronome volume like in the manual. I'm gonna try your resample/create pattern technique. Thanks mang.
I think its a fast way to program a beat and throw it on a pad without farting around. Tbh i need the most basic of tutorials and this just helped with a breakthrough after struggling to get the workflow on this (im an oldie mpc + sp1200 + ableton user). For some reason my brain still hasnt clicked, im used to working fast (as these old slow things will move) and i like limitations - this technique just showed me how one can chuck down a sequence then make it a perfect timed loop
Yea that's when you top out the voice limit. It is meant to be 6 stereo voices, but in my experience it tops out around 5 mono samples. Make anything mono that you can get away with so you can play more samples simultaneously
Was that actually qantizing the beat? That's what it looked like. Is that the secret technique? Quantizing the SP is something I'm worried about when I get one.
It really depends on how long you've had the 404 and how often you use it. Keep in mind the 404sx dropped in 2009. I use my 404 almost daily and I know the MFX numbers (for the ones I use anyways) and the Secondary function numbers That i use as well. After so long I assume it you could have everything memorized. Who knows this could be the rainman of SP's haha
I love those drum samples. I always appreciate the more natural sounds.
The “super secret” technique is the BPM matching via the START/END/LEVEL button/1st knob with the Pattern Sequencer’s BPM.....
Thats the one
I'm a goat and I was totally clickbaited here...
Are you standing on top of a table like the grass is made out of hot lava?
@@whheaattzmayne3183 no im eating the grass.
Very interesting. Definitely going to try doing this kind of thing on my 404.
Shout out to the guitar pick jar. True musician.
yeah and the dab wand with the car key
The end result sounds like it could have been on the Broken Flowers soundtrack
thank you guy for making this video you're totally fucking awesome
Bruh this is awesome I'll try to make a beat with the pattern sequencer cause I've been struggling with resampling

i'm stunned with how many different timbers you have and in the same scale/harmonic field.
how did you load them in?
great job!
Im guessing that he just played a scale in a daw or on a synth and sampled in individual notes.
Pokémon yellow version sample?

K, I honestly don’t know what the special technique he’s trying to show us here is, someone tell me?
I think its a fast way to program a beat and throw it on a pad without farting around. Thanks for this tutorial! Is this how you "stretch" the existing drumloop to match the BPM on the pattern sequencer?
You can just set a loop's bpm to pattern and it will stretch it to the pattern sequencer bpm.
I’m here cos BAAAAHHHHH
Nice beat! But what is the advantege of this method? Couldn't you just have done it all in the sequencer?
ROARS yeah it can be done all on the sequencer, this vid is really to explain how to add an existing drum loop to the pattern sequencer
Ok, thanks :)
But if you do it all in the sequencer, how do you not max out polyphony? It seems you have a lot of layers...
why did you change the bpm
mastersunfish even if your sample reads "81 bpm" at first, the loop might be a little off. so you need to lock it into what the 404 thinks "81 bpm" is
@@foliagebeats 🙏🙏🙏
@@foliagebeats Ah! Got it thanks.
Bro, I have no clue what you are trying to show here. Is this super secret technique done by :57 seconds?
yes
Yes Bro 🙌🏻
when I resample with my sp, in only can resample two pads at a time. otherwise it stops. someone have the same problem and know the solution?
Knut Heartfield thats the polyphonic limit. record them as mono and you can resample four pads at a time
thanks man! nice video!

thanks man. good help. I will try
Jaspertrees I almost sold my sp until I read this comment. Thank you!
Boom!
theres no gap.....oh shit
🐐
Thank u ! 🌋
How is this a secret?
Not everyone knows this
What’s special about it I don’t understand
where can i find this beat?
Was that actually qantizing the beat? That's what it looked like. Is that the secret technique? Quantizing the SP is something I'm worried about when I get one.
Ben C no quantizing involved in this vid. i rarely quantize anything
Ahhh right, I got confused because it felt like the metronome shifted sometimes. Keen to hook up for some collabs or sharing if you're up for it.
Your sp doesn’t like it’s owner ha
THE SECUENCER ES BETTER THAN SP 555..I PREFER MIDI
So you're telling me you've memorized the order of every single MFX available as well as each Secondary function of every single pad??
mmm. doubts
