Wow, that was really awesome. Those flowers remind me of sweet peas and the pods they produce look very similar. However, they don't smell anything like coriander. I had to laugh, I did run and get the coriander to have smellevision. Beautiful flowers and at 6:30 I would imagine it would take your breath away. Beautiful video. Thanks!
I'm glad you tried the smellevision, it is crazy how much it smells like coriander! I love how all the pea family plants have those similar "pillowy" flowers. Seeing a sea of them is stunning!
Crown vetch is my favorite flower. The most beautiful fragrance!!! But does it smells like coriander seeds? I don't think so, of course they possess sort of "cologney" fresh scent to it. If you want to smell this beautiful flower you should try two perfumes 1. Tommy Girl Summer 2004 (in a rainbow bottle) which is very hard to buy now (no longer in production). But it was 100% bottled Crown Vetch. 2. Magnolia Romana by Eau D'Italie (not so accurate copy of its scent yet still similar to it) Freesia smells like coriander seeds :) (crush one seed, close your eyes and you'll see) It is linalool - the main compound of freesia's fragrance.
Crown vetch perfume would be amazing! It did take me a while to pinpoint the similarity to coriander, so its probably just the closest thing I could compare it too. I have never smelled a Freesia flower, but I'll be on the lookout.
Somehow I never noticed these before until I picked a few today. They don't look like an invasive to me.... but I'm laughing at myself because I can't really say what an invasive is supposed to look like either. I guess when it comes to flowers I'd expect it to look more weedy, whatever that means. I'd put these in my yard and then kick myself if they got out of control. Invasive honeysuckle bushes are the only other invasive I thought I'd like to transplant to my home landscape. However, after identifying & researching those I just can't ever propagate that problem.
Dang Give it a Grow I don't have any coriander!! The busy little bee made up for not getting to experience Smell O Vision! He got to smell and taste. LOL ♥
