    What are pinchos?

Very small individual items. Think tapas or appetizers. There is using a display at the bar and you just select what you want. Very inexpensive. Usually 1-2 euros each.

It is not really written "pincho", rather "pintxo", although it is correct to write it both ways. The pintxo can be considered as a preparation of haute cuisine in an aperitif. It is a hallmark of our culture, the Basque. When we Basques go out to eat pintxos we say that "we are going to hamaiketako", which is a word in our language, Basque, and which means "around eleven o'clock", although when referring to pintxos it can be considered as "Lunch". Here it is a tradition to go out around ten or eleven o'clock to drink beer or wine, accompanied by pintxos, while we meet on the terraces of bars and restaurants to chat with our friends.
