The prices on Umbreon V alt are back down to around $130 now, so it was a temp spike. Still up from the $100 it sat at for a while though!

I had such a fun time collecting pokemon during the sword and shield era.
I had a sinking feeling that would happen soon to Umbreon v anyways. You tipped it over the edge haha
I am 99.9% you have mentioned that was your favorite artwork out of Evolving Skies before the very recent video you are referring to. To anyone that pays attention, that would obviously imply that you like that one out of the two Umbreon artworks. Personally, I’ve always agreed, even before I knew your opinion. One looks like Umbreon is a stray dog and you’ve come into his domaine. You are trapped by his commanding presence, and if you have walked into Umbreon’s alleyway, you must face its wrath. The other looks like it’s a cat playing with the moon as if it’s a piece of yarn rather than howling, so I’ve always found that artwork a bit odd compared to the money it commands. Though, I do like the patterns and color scheme. It is very visually appealing, but they both are in my humble opinion.

This explains why all the Alt Umbreons were so expensive at the Houston Collect-a-con today haha. I thought it was so weird seeing them anywhere from $125-$200 across any vendor.

In a live stream i saw a guy say "this aintt a homeless shelter you need to spend money" implying that if you dont have money dont collect. And it really pissed me off.
If you don't have much money, spending what little you have on shiny cardboard is silly.

Funny enough, the only set I didn’t drop a ton of money on. Literally have so many cards from every other set. Never bought this one because the other sets were iffy. I wouldn’t have pulled anything anyways but I like to get one of each pack sealed.

Umbreon is nice and all, but the real gem in the set imo is the Alt Golurk V.
That card is straight up Studio Ghibli Castle in the Sky and I love it.

Pull rates obviously go down the more print runs they make. When it first came out alt arts were not that tough to get. Hands down best set in recent memory!
Not to undermine you or anything but I think people are getting the singles while they can for evolving since the costs for a booster box don't justify opening it , so people are going for raw instead as it's a cheaper and for sure chance to have the card. Personally, I picked one up last week cause I had credits at an LGS. I was waiting for it to come into stock and sniped it. Since about mid-February, my goal was to complete getting all the alt arts from evolving. Your video did not influence me buying mine.
All that said youtubers do have an influence on cards, but I wouldn't weigh too heavily on the influencing a specific card that is already kinda in a category where it is the fastest growing modern sets to begin with.
Gotta love the chase though , I have about 100 loose packs I open 5 , every month or so , last time I opened 5, I got the rayquaza v alt🎉🎉

I didn't watch that video and literally had no idea he even mentioned it until i watched this video. I watch maybe 1/10 videos he releases, and most of the time, I don't even watch them all the way through.
If you have been following the market on evolving skies throughout this year you would see you are sadly wrong.

Something a little funny that happened during that business with the aerodactyl skyrocketting is that the japanese version also saw a hike in price. Was about 40 bucks and around the time the english one began to skyrocket the japanese one doubled in price too.

Ive opened 20 ES packs in total when it released. Got umbreon alt and both ray alts. I dont think ive pulled an alt art since 😂

I remember pulling the Umbreon V from a single blister pack from Walmart. I sent it to PSA months later and it got a 10. I will never sell it just because of the memory.
I agree with the regular Umbreon, and I'm glad I pulled one so I don't have to deal with that. If I'm gonna get a Moonbreon, personally, I go OG Moonbreon. You know, the one from the Neo sets! Still out of my price range tho. But I can dream!

To be fair, I actually remember on multiple occasions Rev saying he liked the other Umbreon more. When the set first dropped and then later in another video he said it again. I’m pretty sure he’s said it like a handful of times.

This is such a good set. There are so many good cards to chase in this set. The price for this set is insane though for it not being that old.

booster boxes will always cost more and the reason is that people believe that they haven't been tampered with.. buying loose packs is always a risk, let alone it would be difficult to find someone selling 36 booster packs all at once for $10 each

Bought 2 boxes. Pulled my chase the sylveon alt art which is way better than the awkward moon and building.
Kept the other sealed and it did stonks.

Talk about umbreon V max, Remembered I said gengar V max card long time ago want to get it. That when $90 - $95 to $160 - $200 mint.
To be fair i always liked the umbreon v alt art more than moonbreon aswell. Both are amazing looking cards though
I mean tye 2nd re print of evolving skies was infinitely worse than the first printing. Idr exactly what happened but I remember someone got fired for stealing tons of umbreons and stuff from the 2nd round of printings, so the hits just seems waaay less in general compared to the first wave. I don't blame you for not wanting to keep opening them.
I still remember the original evolving skies being a blast to open, full of hits, but the 2nd wave felt much much more lack luster.
Real ones know Rev has always favored that Umbreon over the moonbreon..
These same people would 100% believe you if you said “Battle Styles or Rebel Clash was actually a really good set.” 🚀🤣🤣

Rev, if you want to show a card, then show it, if you want to mention or state your opinion on a card, then do it. There's no need to censor yourself in that way, we all know it's not a vicious plan. If it causes a temporary or even permanent spike, so be it. Some people won't be able to buy the card, some will be able to sell it for more. Nothing you can do, just be yourself 😊
That's what we've been seeing for the past few years though, someone brings attention to an amazing card (like the latios and latias gx alt) and it spikes like crazy, then settles down, but still at a much higher price than it was at.
I literally was about to buy this card after the moonbreon shot up, I guess not now. At this rate I'll just save up for the older umbreons

Crazy thing is I opened 7 booster box's 25 etbs and 100s of packs and never pulled the big card -.- or any big cards so I stopped

Even if your comments do "influence" prices (you are an "influencer" after all) it's just as likely that sellers are using you to inorganically inflate prices by selling to themselves in order to add on to the hype of your messaging. Additive effects. You say it, they do it, others pile on.
That said, I think I agree with you that certain cards are slept on. So many beautiful Pokemon cards that don't get the praise they deserve. So I think it's fine and probably even an organic effect when the outcome is such that people say, "oh yeah, this other card is really cool too!" Good stuff. I feel that way about many Umbreon cards.
Probably some mixture of truths here and it's all good.
