    Hi Julie! My name is Jorge and I was born in Portugal but I spent most of my time growing up between Malaysia, Singapore and Sweden. I used to spent many summer and winter breaks with one of my aunt who lives in Gothenburg Sweden when I was still in college. And by the age of 18, I decided to join the National Service in Singapore(my step dad served in the Singapore Police Force so I decided to kinda experience what it feels like for myself so I served as a Section Commander fire fighter Rota in the Singapore Civil Defence Force). After National Service I automatically became a neutralised Singapore citizen and then spent many years trying out different jobs primarily in the hotels and F&B industry and even worked at Shangri-La Singapore with my late mom(she had been working in the F&B industry for about 20 years and was promoted to head chef but then she found out that she had breast cancer not long after that(a battle she fought long and hard but ultimately succumbed to the battle on the day when I was assigned to work at probably one of the most high profile security summit event called the IISS Shangri-La Dialogue 2018 in Singapore). My apologies for going off topic a little bit there 😅.. Anyway fast forward today, I am happily married to the love of my life and the both of us are seriously looking forward to move to Gothenburg Sweden long term possibly next year or in the next couple of years. We’re excited to make new friends and to integrate ourselves into the Swedish culture and community just like how you and your family did. And hopefully we will have some guidance along the way with all the informations you’ve provided through the contents of your UA-cam channel! 🫶🏽

    👋Hey guys, a new subscriber here.
    Chris, I do like the way you think & you appear to have a good approach to things & appear to be down to earth & have an open mind about things, which is very refreshing.
    It would be a much nicer world, if all men thought as you do.
    My family & I will be in Sweden for almost 1 month end of this year, so this will be a brand new experience for me, especially experiencing the Winter so far North.
    We're growing more excited now & literally counting down the days!
    In all honesty, we were supposed to travel elsewhere, as we'd heard much negative stereotyping regarding Sweden & the Swedes, but I thought to myself, the only way I'll ever know/see what's really going on, is if I challenge myself by just going there, meeting the local people & making up my own mind, so now's the time.
    Thanks for sharing & here's wishing you all well.
    Peace✌

    Hi Uli, I really like your videos about your live in Sweden :) As someone thinking about also moving to Sweden, I currently try to figure out what the political development with the conservative or national party is about. What is your experience with that? I really hope that Sweden will not be a country affected by the development of the political right as some others in Europe, as for example Germany, where I am coming from.

    I used to buy, among other things, cheap plants and plant seeds from the UK, but after Brexit I had to stop because it became too expensive: The fact that the UK left the EU means that when you receive or shop online from the UK, you must pay VAT and any customs duties before the goods can be delivered, and that means that you might as well buy the same things here in Sweden. And the notifications! Yes, sometimes you get them and sometimes you don't, but that is true also when it comes to buying from Swedish sources, and it has been explained to me that it is usually the seller who makes a mistake when they send the parcel; the simply don't check the correct boxes in their systems.

    Hi, thanks for the video. 💜
    I have a question on how you pronounce your name.
    Did you change pronunciation when you lived in the UK to be more intuitive for the English?

    Is it a nickname for another name?

    The reason you´ve to pay for parcels and letters coming from the UK is because there is VAT/handling fees involved now since the UK left the EU. Had the UK still been in the EU there would be no fees/free trade agreements between UK or the rest of Europe.

    Don't go for DIF. The two big teams in Stockholm are AIK and HIF and they are respected, and lovingly despised, opponents of each other. The third team is upper class team DIF that most fans just feel mild disdain for. If you live south of the city I'd go for HIF and if you live north of the city go for AIK. I'd say that AIK win more often but that HIF have better fans and community feeling. More passionate people will probably weigh in on either side.

      @@LivingSwedish No, don't listen to Tove. She is trying to deceive you. She is young. Hammarby only had some success recently and are supported by drunkards, a few hipsters in Södermalm and young kids who don't know any better. AIK is probably the most hated team in Sweden outside of Stockholm and probably also in Stockholm. The big rivalry is DIF vs AIK. You can google it. It goes way back. DIF was founded as a working class team but the DIF area of Stockholm has been so successful that people nowadays call them posh. Well, no shame in being a DIF supporter and thus succesful, right? It did not start that way. It's just hard to fail when supporting DIF.

    • @pierrenilsson6189
      @pierrenilsson6189 Рік тому

      Tove, AIK has won 12 times. DIF has won 12 times and Hammarby 1 time. Don't lie. The rivalry is between AIK and DIF. If you look at the league since Allsvenskan started in 1993, DIF has won 4 times, AIK 3 times and HIF 1 time. Before that HIF was nowhere to be found. HIF is not a football team. It is a social club for people who think they are edgy and hip. 😀

  • @pierrenilsson6189
    @pierrenilsson6189 Рік тому +1

    Yes, DIF is the right football team to follow. It is important to avoid AIK. They are only fun to dislike. Don't you think AIK sounds a bit like Arsenal? To be fair though AIK is our West Ham United because the fan base is a bit single minded, not to say daft. Hammarby used to be fun with good supporters but that disappeared in the 90s as soon as they had some success. Now they are just like everyone else. They are from the south part of Stockholm (our Crystal Palace?). Personally I don't mind Hammarby. Their fan base used to be the drunkards from the southern area of Stockholm but at least they used to be fun. Go for Djurgården! DIF has the best supporters and play the best football and the derbys vs AIK will mean a lot. The rivalry between AIK and DIF is probably the biggest and most important one in Sweden. You'd miss all that if you go for Hammarby. AIK is a big no no, so that only leaves Djurgården/Djurgårn/DIF. It is the only logical choice. You can thank me later 🙃

    Sweden is great if you like security, the outdoors and a quiet lifestyle. I've lived there as a Englishman. But it doesn't offer anywhere near what England has in terms of culture and excitement in my opinion. Also it still comes out consistently as the 5th richest country in the world - Brexit or not. Brexit was a control measure in the same way that some 25 percent of Swedes are now voting for the far right. By all means enjoy and celebrate Sweden - but stop knocking England.
