OMG, thank you so much! I've been learning about manual mode so much recently and had no idea why my camera seemed to act weird. Turned out, I had the ISO turned to auto in the settings!

back when i started, you had to have coded batteries,even in the battery
grip, what a pain it was trying to convince the know it alls at the camera store of this. the batteries will work in all your othr Nikon devices but you must have the coded ones for the camera. hopefully they undid that swift move.
This is very helpful but even after doing the manual setting still doesn't allow me to do changes
Great tutorial,,, i just bought my nikon d3400 and the littlte light doesn't come on and my shutter button doesn't beep when i press it half way...... can you help me undo whatever it is i did please...??
Do the settings stay when the battery dies or is swapped? What about the date and time? Do you have to set the date and time everytime the battery is swapped? If so can it use the Internet to get accurate timing?
Man, how dou you conect the cam in a monitor? (cable type) plz.
Still enjoying my D3400 HOWEVER I am getting an R11 in the view finder. Changed lenses.....camera still seems to take photos BUT that doesn't go away. Some have said its a full buffer...........but its all the time now, even when I first turn on camera. Even did a reset....any suggestions? Thanks in advance
All my settings are greyed out in Manuel as well. Why?

Any Nikon lens will be compatible. Nikon uses the F mount, so just look for “Nikon” or Nikon F Mount” and you’ll find lots of compatible lenses.

Newbie,,,,,,,, I changed the settings as explained but when I shoot a photo, I get a white out image.... I changed the ISO setting to off while on manual mode...
