I bought a Karavan trailer like this from Sam's about 4 years ago. The pockets in the fenders and the dove tail are new. My boards don't have gaps like the one in the video. Mine is a 6 x 10. The fold down sides are super nice when having someone load my trailer with a forklift. Customers and employees alike drop their jaws when I fold down the side. The fender does stop it from folding all the way down, but it's still super.
That is a very good point about the sides. I just sold my big tex 5x14 trailer because I want a wider trailer with no sides for that very reason about being able to load and off load with a fork lift. I've was thinking about building myself a custom one. Now I may consider buying one of these instead. Thanks for the comment!
I have a 3 year old Texas Bragg 5x8 I bought new for $1200. So far it’s held up really well. That Karavan trailer looks really nice other than the wood gaps. Wish mine had storage containers like that.
I bought one yesterday. The fold down sides will be super handy for loading brush or tree branches, any kind of clean up stuff. I think it's American made too!
Thats awesome Ron! After I made that video I thought it would be handy for when I need to have a forklift load pallets of material. The quality looked good
@@Mechanical_Mind I dident think about fork lift access! Great point. Today I realized the wood splitter I need to have repaired will load on board super easy with a hand truck! I was trying to think how I would lift it into my truck, it's heavy!
I own one it needed tweaks nothing crazy 400 bucks or less invested. I love my trailer it is the best investment I ever bought and I won't ever sell it
That was a spur of the moment video in that trailer. They had the front folded down which caught my attention. As I looked at more I started realizing it was very well made trailer. I like the idea of being able fold down the sides to allow easy forklift loading and unloading.
That is a really good idea! I often want a flat bed trailer for that very reason for easiet loading and unloading with a forklift but sometimes want sides.
I had a customer recently with a very similar trailer! I liked the folding down side for loading mowers sideways if I had several to pick up. A few days later, I was at our local Home Depot saw they are selling them. I can’t justify that cost yet though...
I’m looking back at my pictures, and it looks like the gaps are larger than I would normally expect, but not as large as the ones in your video. Also a couple others things: 1) the ones I’ve seen don’t have the storage boxes built into the fender 2) they don’t have the slight dove tail at the back of the deck 3) I noticed that my customers trailer is a TrailStar and Home Depot had the Karavan brand. They looked exactly the same to me, so I hadn’t noticed the different branding till just now
Saw these today and had to google them. The gaps in the wood seem to vary based on the trailer width. Dumb on their part they should have trimmed the wood to fit! Love the sides as well. Didn't see the fender storage til I watched your video. They had a 6.5x13 at mine. Wonder if they make a 7x14? Disappointed they only had 14's on them.
Where is this trailer located? I looked at the Tractor Supply website. They don't have these trailers with the fold down sides. I haven't visited my local store. Maybe they are there.
@@Mechanical_Mind mine came with smaller gaps when I first bought it, after a year the woods shrunk where I can fit my fingers through the gaps. Now I just put a clear wood sealer on it every spring to protect the wood from the Sun rain and snow. The gaps really don't bother me anymore, I use my trailer manually for hauling my side by side on it. I just want to protect those planks as long as I can cuz it looks like it's going to be a Butch to replace them.
Use as is and fix later once destroyed... At least they used 2 screws to secure versus 1 in the middle... That would create serious cupping after it dries out with only 1 screw... Boards probably were tight during install and shrunk via natural drying and sun pounding on it... I saw one yesterday in person... Very nice trailers... I'd buy one... !!! TIP: If you end up installing new boards... Install tight with no gap... Once dried out you'll have 1/8" + gap
The fenders do look fairly sturdy, even though they’re plastic. You should stand on them, to show if they flex excessively. The basket is nice, but you really need an enclosed box to keep water & dirt from becoming mud on whatever you’re putting in the box,
These were new trailers I saw at Tractor Supply. Im not going to stand on the fenders and risk breaking it or breaking myself 😬. I thought it was a unique design. Id drill some drain holes in the little storage compartments.
A good angle upper rail is much better than the light weight tube or box tobe. The problem with box or light weight tube is the inside rust out. Especially here in the north. I use my trailer all year long. Salt and worse the pretreat calcium brine deicing treatment is very hard on box tubing. I much perfer angle and channel that can be properly cleaned....
Yes it all depends on the material they use. Thats a good point about corrosion. I built thousands of ac security cages in Memphis out of angle for that reason. The other cages made out of thin walled sq would corrode from the inside out after a few years. It was one of my sellimg points that we could coat all the surface area and would not have hollow sections to hold water.
That stainless steel looks to me as galvanized, and be very careful with powder coating the metal has to pre rust before putting the powder coating on. Otherwise the metal would rust under the powder coating, too many examples on the road.
I dont know what I was smoking that day. I thought later that there was no way they built a trailer out of stainless. Plus other commenters mentioned it as well. When I went back to that store I made a point to look. I figured it must be either galvanized or aluminim. It an aluminum trailer with some galvanized parts. I think coupler was galvanized if I remember correctly

Really like the powder coated trailer

Bought one last year and I'm very satisfied with my purchase.
Thanks for the comment! What have you used the trailer for mostly?
There are no tie downs. How would you tie down an ATV or motorcycle?
I wonder if there’s a reason for the gals in the wood planks (besides expansion & contraction) are gapped?

Yeah it looked very handy. Did his have huge gaps between the boards? Yes the prices of trailers are getting out of control

weird how when you search karavan on their website nothing shows up

The rails come off also. Makes a flatbed trailer...
That would be very useful! I liked it
I have that trailer I like it does a great job .I wouldn’t stand on the fenders though.
Thanks for watching
Where is this trailer located? I looked at the Tractor Supply website. They don't have these trailers with the fold down sides. I haven't visited my local store. Maybe they are there.
I can't even find this trailer on the Karavan website.
That Tractor Supply is in Eustis FL
I got mine at home Depot, got it for my John Deere zero turn mower. So far , very satisfied . Noticed that the price increased to .
I like the trailer, but don’t like the gaps in the wood.
If you have anything small, it’s going to get caught in the gaps, or fall through.
I dont like how wide those gaps are either.

Which store did you see these at?
#513 in Eustis Florida
@@Mechanical_Mind thanks! Looks like I missed the 11ft trailers there. All they have now are the 6.5x13 karavans.

May be a good idea.
I just thought they looked like they’re meant to be stepped on, as they have a tread on top for traction.
@@patrickflohe7427 now that Im looking at those fender again. Im sure they would hold about 200 lbs or more.
I have one and no problem standing on them.
Thanks for sharing. You have a new sub!
Thanks!
What a world we live in 2000$ for a single axle utility trailer
They are $3,200 now.
They're 2500 smackers in my area.
Inflation is a mf!
Nice but it brakes down in the front. That needs welded fix on the front. It's going to brake faster then the old style
I never saw or heard of these trailers until that day I made this video.

I was thinking aluminum myself as I used to weld aluminum trailers. The welds look fat compared to other types of metal where the welds lay flater
No, that's not a stainless steel trailer, it is aluminum. If it were truly a stainless steel trailer it would be 3 - 4 x the price !
ua-cam.com/video/VhejH7DmNH8/v-deo.html
actually looks like a galvanized trailer.......
Is this on all tractor supply?
Hey Blake, I not sure if they are at all locations. My guess would be no. I just noticed them at my local Tractor Supply here in central Florida.
Just bought one from Atlanta, Georgia
@@alexmorales5540 what’s your impression so far?
Gaps on deck means laziness and savings by not adding a xtra strip of wood I have a similar a bought like that
I was thinking the same. Maybe they where trying to save some $ and cutting corners and materials wherever they can
Uhh or it makes cleaning it easier, gives it room to breath and not rot aeay as fast? Plus the fact that wood expands once water seeps in
The best
Those latches are a pain in the ass tight . If your looking there at home depot
