Well she had around 800 millions views on Dernière Danse and about 300 millions on Tourner dans le Vide and her song S.O.S is well-known also, but Indila stopped a bit to produce songs after 2015 i'd say, then she came back with "Ainsi bas la vida" and "Parle à ta tête", i didn't notice if she made some other songs but i do believe she's someone that don't want to become recognize to the point people/paparazzi would stopped her in the street etc so she's taking her time whenever she wants to ;)

The songs of Indila which seem to interess some english speaking people should be translated like Stromae or Laria Fabian. In most french songs the lyrics are as important as the music. You cannot understand a french song if you don't understand the lyrics.
Great point you’ve made there, however I somewhat disagree, most of not all connect with a song through its instrumental 🎼 and the share feeling it give you, after which the words come into play. So while you are correct in saying we must understand the lyrics, for example a person who’s unable to hear connect with the vibration of then song 🎵 which again puts holes 🕳 in your logic☺️. But I do appreciate you coming by and shearing your views and thought 💭
@@JayRuller_ as a french person (idk if OP is french too, but i assume they are), i understand what FROGMAN was trying to say - lyrics do play a great part in most french songs and are as important as the music (if not more). i think that’s why you’ll see many french people not liking covers from non-french speaking singers, because most of them don’t have a good pronunciation (which is fine to a certain extent) and “overdo it” during their performance to the point that the song’s message is drown under the desire of showcasing vocals.
as for the reason why the full enjoyment of french music may require a full understanding of the lyrics: french music has/had a genre called “text music” (chanson à texte), which basically gathers all the french songs in which singers and actual poets collaborated together (ex: yves montand’s “les feuilles mortes”, written by jacques prévert - or basically his whole “yves montand chante prévert” album).
this genre is kind of dead now, although it evolved into people generally qualifying songs with elaborated lyrics written in a poem form as “text songs”. it also kind of influenced french music as a whole, since emotions, lyrics and delivering/storytelling is more important than the instrumental/music production itself.

i would also recommend diam’s, she’s a rapper who was really popular back in the early 2000s for her political statements and boldness in her lyrics (still iconic in france, although she left her career as a rapper) - imo you can’t fully experience “par amour” without understanding the lyrics!
