This is the song that got me so interested in music. Now I play violin have recieved many scholarships to different places and intend to create music for people in the future as a living. Just goes to show you where good game music can go
Man, Terada-san has composed some real good stuff for Ape Escape 1 and 3. I wonder why he has never really composed music for other games. He's very good at B&P, that's for sure. :)
First time I played this game, I didn't have a dualshock controller and the game was rented. I had to hide it from my siblings on the simple fact that I didn't have a dualshock controller. I love this game, in fact, it maybe my favorite game ever.
Very nice. Ape Escape was one of the games that also influenced me into making music, which I do and am very happy with it : ) I've become a music fanatic...ugh. Listening through hundreds of songs of varied genres a day can get a bit crazy lol. I want to hear it all, but that's impossible, unfortunately. Good to see a similar fellow! X
Ah the days when games were more about fun and less about looking the best. Only sad thing I can say is that I didn't get to play this in my childhood. I played it after I got a PS2 because my parents were too stupid to understand what a Dual Shock controller was, so the disk just sat in its case for literally years. But when I finally played it, ho man! It was like being 10 all over again.
Remember when you'd pause the screen and the monkeys you've already captured would be bobbing their head to the music? Awesome. And talk about an original game. Using your RC car to help you in boss fights, crazy gadgets...yeah good games from the past. Needs a remake to show these new gamers what games were all about; weird, crazy fun with some awesome in betweens (the music, rival levels, etc).
@mthep But there are few words to describe such a nostalgic feeling. Its one of those few words in English that doesn't have other words mean the same. Plus it's so nostalgia makes no sense. This music suits the first non monkey limit level, and its sounds a great finale faker too. Atmospheric, and has a catchy tune. Great mix.
@ThePrinceGokuHD This game was the first game that made it ESSENTIAL for a Dual Shock controller, if you had a normal controller, all you could do was look around and change weapons, since the analogue sticks do everything else
@MagicalChickenWings I know what you mean...and then after the epic battle with spectre it blew my mind that I only passed the halfway point...I was like...NO the BGM didn't feel like halfway it felt like the FINALE!
I ove this theme. I remeber this watching this guy's video's ,cloud8745, he used this song as his title open for all but his last 2 videos he made of him doing ape escape. It's awesome.
this stage was long bro so very long. Just when i thought it was over i had to do some more running around. Don't get me wrong people, this stage was great.
This song makes me want to have my own castle. And of course...My own floating chair. Like spectrrs. And none of this new chair buisness specter has going on. I want the original COOLER looking chair.
i was a really fan of this game i started to play it when i was 5 years old XD I really remember this song because was the most epic song for playstation 1 and because was 1 of the most difficoult level of the game XDDDD
which monkey was it? for me it was the one behind bars in specters finaal castle, then I accidentally shot a bullet at the giant metal monkey head's helmet's top and it shattered and I was like OHHHH!!!!
@MagicalChickenWings dude i was stuck on this level for so long! Found the game in my garage a couple months ago and beat it. Feel like such an idiot looking back haha.
have same thing whit resident evil. whe i broke the cd i was so sad :( but i bet i will find that game again one day. ape escape is my first game on ps1 and i love it and hate it but it really made my childhood:)
@MagicalChickenWings I am there with you, at first i thought it was the last level cause it at the perfect settings and music for a final level but turned out not to be

Took me a while to find this, since it's called Trick Castle in the European version D:

GOD, i loved this theme as a kid. I would spend hours on this level just to listen to the music half the time.
Dat electric ax wielding dark knight...
Trick Castle in the PAL version. =D
Ape Escape was a great game, and this was the best song from that game.
oooh the knight guarding the door was so scary back then :D

Ahh. That song from that "I Wanna Be The Fangame" game...I was trying to recall what game that was from and on what occasion it played...=D
hotKnife612:
Well said; I could not have put it better myself.
Best level and song! Best game, too. Best childhood memory... sigh.
@ShadowMario64 That's very true, because AE2's soundtrack was produced by someone else, not Soichi Terada.
@ThePrinceGokuHD This game was the first game that made it ESSENTIAL for a Dual Shock controller, if you had a normal controller, all you could do was look around and change weapons, since the analogue sticks do everything else
Trick Castle XD My fav theme Love how it gets faster and louder This was also a pretty tricky level :P
this is still that awesome song what i remember..

@MagicalChickenWings I know what you mean...and then after the epic battle with spectre it blew my mind that I only passed the halfway point...I was like...NO the BGM didn't feel like halfway it felt like the FINALE!

yayy trick castle! :D Havent heard it in years!
I can't be the only one who thought this was the final level.
@enclosedinstructions Well, when talking about a game from a long time ago, it's going to be common, isn't it?
@MagicalChickenWings It WAS the perfect location too, though the amusement park was the only thing mirrored specters fact that he was still a child!
which monkey was it? for me it was the one behind bars in specters finaal castle, then I accidentally shot a bullet at the giant metal monkey head's helmet's top and it shattered and I was like OHHHH!!!!
I imagine that must be very epic
