Thanks for the no nonsense overview! i.e. pedestrian safety and taxi gouging tips. So many of these vloggers squander way too much time focusing on themselves and their companions, they end up overlooking many of the important aspects that the viewer looks for! 🔅

I have never been to Tulum but I believe you when you say it takes a couple of days to get settled. It takes me 24 to 48 hours to settle in a place which is different from what I am used to.

We were in Tulum several years ago when it was first getting SUPER popular with white affluent people. We pull in about $225k/year and we thought it was WAY too pricey at the restaurants. $18 cocktails in Mexico? We live in los angeles & those are crazy prices.

I remember when Tulum was nothing in 2009... I used to go camping on the beach for free.. Oh, how times have changed....Have fun buddy! Go grab a michelada!

Ill let your public know about golfing in Mexico... IF you can get onto a course (most are private and youll need a member to vouch for you) itll cost you about 2000p a round (roughly 100usd). Club rentals will set you back 1000p. Caddies are MANDATORY on the course - theyre usually 12 year old boys - and expect to pay them about 200p each for their services. You can pay more for experienced caddies (upto 500p). These caddies will help you with shot distance and will help line up your putts. Beers are generally cheap - about 50p a can - but dont be afraid to smuggle them in your golf bag like we did back in Canada. Clubhouse food is usually cheap and delicious. Most courses have a sauna or ´vapor´steam room. Try having a michelada in one of those after 18 holes is a TRIP. All in all, its a wonderful experience, but be expected to plunk down about 200usd.

I wish I had seen this before coming! You are right. It took me 24 hours to calm down and enjoy the place. I am going to rent a car because the taxis are outrageous! $50 RT to go from the hotel zone to the center of Tulum for 5 minutes!

Most taxi’s in Mexico have two different prices, one price for locals and one for “gringos” (tourists)! They charge the tourist triple the price of locals and that’s at minimum! I’ve been going to Tulum for over 10 years and there was a time when Tulum was going to get Uber, the local taxi drivers got really violent, preventing it from happening!

Hotel zone is 2 miles away from downtown. Downtown is inland and hotel zone is a jungle area with palm trees lining a thin road. Hotel zone is where there is paradise downtown is just a concrete jungle.
