I've heard Frankenstein get described as a stalker, The Bride clearly has no problem with casual murder, and Dr. Phosphorus' own voice actor described him as an irredeemable psychopath.

@@victorkamara9226 Man of Steel is one of myfavorite superhero movies. I saw it in the theater and I had to watch it again because of how it made me feel. I didn't find it dark at all. It is more realistic and in that sense it ends up exploring more complex and 'dark' situations and feelings, but that adds weight to the movie and that's very good. It's very easy to make a light Superman movie when the movie has a more fantastical and silly tone like the one from 78 (which I also love)... Lois dies, but the weight disappears when superman in a very cartoonish way runs around the planet backwards to go back in time.

I disagree. I actually liked the Creature Commandos, which were monster soldiers operating in WWIi. To me this is a massive step down from the original. That having been said, we all have different tastes, and I do hope you enjoy it. I certainly have no right to be the arbiter of taste any poorest than anyone else.

This team is more made up of half-monstrous villains like Dr. Phosphorus. (who isn't even a monster as his flashback showed compared to the Bride and the rest) Gunn is good but he enjoys to always severely alter the canon of the characters. It was easy to do so with obscure ones like the Guardians but with Peacemaker and Vigilante it was too much. And don't get me even started with whatever that Judomaster iteration was. (Or whatever is going on with the new over 50 Hal Jordan casting)

I think it’s really cool the DCU is starting this way. Violent and mature. It also makes me think the tv shows (especially animation) will experiment more than the theatrical movies will with what they want to show and the stories they tell.

More like The Boys. Invincible uses violence reasonably to enhance the intensity of the plot itself or for the sake of simple realism. Never gratuitous, humorous, or for cheap shock value. But this right here 1:41 is what we call “edgy violence”, same type of violence we got in The Boys, where the gore is over exaggerated just for the sake of humorous shock. I’m not criticizing, it’s just important to differentiate so we know what we’re getting ourselves into

And as far as "Joker 2" goes, it has been WIDELY reported and made abundantly clear that, while Gunn offered notes to Phillips on "Joker 2", Phillips rejected all of Gunn's notes, did everything he could to distance himself from DC itself, and only worked on that level with the CEOs of WB Studios, Pamela Abdy and Michael De Luca. Plus, "Joker 2" was released through WB, not DC Studios (the first two DC Studios releases have been "Super/Man" and "The Penguin", which have both gotten stellar reviews across the board), so none of that mess with "Joker 2" is on James Gunn, Peter Safran, or DC Studios. Again, that info is readily and easily available.

So those two are out of the equation. What he did get hands on was 2021 Suicide Squad, Peacemaker show, his Superman, this, and the rest of the DCU we're gonna see.

I think it’s really cool the DCU is starting this way. Violent and mature. It also makes me think the tv shows (especially animation) will experiment more than the theatrical movies will with what they want to show and the stories they tell.

More like The Boys. Invincible uses violence reasonably to enhance the intensity of the plot itself or for the sake of simple realism. Never gratuitous, humorous, or for cheap shock value. But this right here 1:41 is what we call “edgy violence”, same type of violence we got in The Boys, where the gore is over exaggerated just for the sake of humorous shock. I’m not criticizing, it’s just important to differentiate so we know what we’re getting ourselves into

We see the proper amount of physical damage done on the heroes’s bodies according to their strength level. The right amount of blood being spilled, the bruises, etc.

You've already seen it with all the terrible movies he's helped make like Flash and Joker 2

The only thing we know for certain that James Gunn suggested creatively for The Flash, as far as I'm aware, was the last scene with George Clooney showing up as the Batman in the universe Miller's Flash was in. Everything else was pretty much already in the can by then, not to mention the film was extensively plagued by studio interference from WB Studios.
And as far as "Joker 2" goes, it has been WIDELY reported and made abundantly clear that, while Gunn offered notes to Phillips on "Joker 2", Phillips rejected all of Gunn's notes, did everything he could to distance himself from DC itself, and only worked on that level with the CEOs of WB Studios, Pamela Abdy and Michael De Luca. Plus, "Joker 2" was released through WB, not DC Studios (the first two DC Studios releases have been "Super/Man" and "The Penguin", which have both gotten stellar reviews across the board), so none of that mess with "Joker 2" is on James Gunn, Peter Safran, or DC Studios. Again, that info is readily and easily available.
@@codafett In terms of production and getting hands on, not really. Flash was already way in production. As for Joker 2, Todd Phillips wanted no help from Gunn. That was all Todd Phillips' doing. So those two are out of the equation. What he did get hands on was 2021 Suicide Squad, Peacemaker show, his Superman, this, and the rest of the DCU we're gonna see.
