Sub Topic: Plastid
A plant has green leaves, a flower is so colourful where roots are colourless. All these are because of the presence of plastid. It is an organelle present only in plant cell and Euglenoids. Plastid are of 3 types
Chloroplast _green ( help in photosynthesis)
Chromoplast_colour other than green( attract insects)
Leucoplast_colourless.( mainly storage). Leucoplast are of 3 types
a. Amyloplast ( stores carbohydrate)
b. Aleuroplast ( stores protein)
c. Elaioplast( stores fat)
Structure of chloroplast:
Outer and Inner membrane
Intermembrane space
Stroma
Grana.
Chlorophyll pigment is present within each thylakoid forming the grana.
