Killer finds, Dom! Great seeing you there and chatting with you, Brandon, and Dave! There was so much great stuff and for next year, I’ll definitely bring more money lol
Joe, I hope you found some FMP albums. Your face appeared to me when I read about the new release, '' Chicken Shit Bingo'' by the duo of Brotzmann and Paal Nilssen- Love. Heather Leigh most likely introduced Peter to chicken shit bingo, it's a real ''thing'', that started in Texas, where Heather grew up.
Dom, ''If it's not fun, don't do it, You'll have to do enough, that isn't' - words to live by, from poet Robert Creeley. Hell, if I saw Minko at a record fair, I would lock him in a utility closet. I love him, but he would find all the gems and leave me with just a few crumbs. Now, that's my idea of fun! Robert Creeley and Brother Ah, both taught at Brown University. I know three guys that studied with Brother Ah. Rhode Island is a small state, and I know 57% of the people who live here, whereas, according to Lester Bowie, ''New York Is Full Of Lonely People''. George Harrison's son, Dhani attended Brown University, and he came to Providence frequently to visit him. I bumped into George at coffee shops, hotel lobbies and walking along local streets. I did not want to bother him, or disrupt his program, so on several occasions, we just flashed each other the peace sign! If I encountered Ira Kaplan, the first question I would have asked, is the same question that Mets outfielder, Frank Thomas asked, ''What the hell is a yellow tango?" Dom, enjoy that Butch Morris album, he's an unsung hero!
@@mazzysmusic Mazzy, George was a saint in the city. My pal Louie was a pastry chef at a Brown University refectory. lol Michael. You should be the state ambassador for RI, especially when it comes to music. Minko left plenty for me, or in this case I left plenty for Tom since he wasn't there Sat.

Some great scores Dom, got that Landry earlier this year as well. Ergot seems like a great store, I’ve tried to get stuff from them online but they keep their stock for locals only, which I respect. You know you may have a problem when you drop: “Went to record store to take a break from the fair” 😂. Deaf Buys!
Great pickup on the Telectu Belizebu; been making an effort to grab the group’s discography little by little, as we say. That JuJu record is an amazing album and a fantastic find. That price is actually pretty good. That record alone would have made my weekend. Cool meeting Ira Kaplan. Love Yo La Tengo. And I know what you mean about getting a picture; that’s not my thing either. Even when I met Patti Smith I couldn’t bring myself to being that guy. Better to share a moment and have a good story. Wait…And Heldon too? D@mn nice. Good hunting. Peace.
Hey Shawn. I wouldn't have wanted to bother asking for a picture but if someone spotted it, and took a picture without me knowing....I'd be happy to have it! If that makes sense. So far everything I've played is sounding good and on point with condition. Feeling pretty good so far and happy I dropped all that cash lol.
Jesus, Dom! Dariush Dolat-Shahi is certainlynot israeli, quite the opposite in fact. Bad Dom, Bad. Other than that outburst, good good good. I wish you callled me te first day as I saw a record on a wall on this, that I would have gone crazy for, hahaha. You got one of my real wants in this, and that is awesome, looked like tons of fun!
yikes! That is embarrassing. I totally didn't notice that. I guess both begin with I?? Iranian / Isreali...very bad on my part. I almost want to re-upload. Well it was a great fair. Brandon and Dave both found great stuff too. Wonder which wall piece?? It was probably overpriced.
Great to see this, especially for all of us who missed it. Seems like you had a great trip with lots of fun, vc meet-ups and record digging. And as always, many cool albums. And great stories, like you meeting Ira Kaplan and talked about Candlestickmaker. I actually looked for Candlestickmaker in Den Bosch but ended up getting a few Yo La Tengo's instead, how about that! About Flying Nun, Den Bosch delivered, I came home with seven NZ originals. Thanks for sharing this, very nice to see.
Awesome! 7 flying nun originals is a big score. I thought about making a deal for the 2nd Look Blue Go Purple ep and the Stones ep but I balked and went back only to find the Stones had sold. No matter...was a successful trip. I will keep my eyes peeled for a copy of Candlestick maker though it doesn't turn up often.
I was really happy to see the WFMU record fair come back to Manhattan, very convenient and I like the facility and space. I started going to these fairs in the late nineties at few different locations in the city. I was a little sticker shocked at some of the prices this year. I did buy a few records but not as many as I wanted, descriptions were a little off when I got home and played them.
My first WFMU was 2001 I believe. I just remember the band Oneida literally playing in one of the aisles. Of course prices were in another universe then. Still fun though!
Hey Dom! Good seeing you, too bad it was only briefly. That Brother Ahh is my favorite of his, congrats on completing the trilogy. Crazy you got that Columbus Circle, never really see it! I uploaded side A of it on my channel some years back but ended up trading it, would love to get it back at some point. I would say it's more jazz-rock / prog than free jazz but still a great record. Great finds on the Elodie Lauten, the Brazilian scores and Juju!
Hell yeah, great to hang for a minute or two. Hopefully more another time. The Columbus Circle was unknown to me and didn't even fully know how rare it was. For $40 I'll give it a shot. Hopefully it plays ok. Billy said it was an interesting one. Super scores yourself Tom, hope to see a recap of yours as well.
What a haul, Dom! My clutch at the Lausanne Record Fair last weekend pales in comparison... pretty jelly about the Brazilian and the jazz stuff in particular (Juju!). I passed on a couple of Penguin Cafe records which I'm already regretting. What an intriguing band. So many hidden gems on Folkways.. I recently discovered Dolatshahi - amazing! I found that Butch Morris at a random antique store in Vermont for next to nothing alongside a bunch of other free jazz records. That was years ago, a miracle steal I'll never forget! Gotta make it to WFMU one day when or if I'm back to the New World....
Awesome to have found that Butch Morris like that. I keep looking but never find anything! ha, those days are pretty much gone but not completely. I'm grabbing the Penguin Cafes now as I see them. Particularly want that first one on Obscure. Would be awesome if you could make it to the fair when you return. Your eyes would be popping with some of the titles. And prices. 👀!! Cheers Cedric!
Wow Dom it looks you scored, a lot of stuff I have never heard. Nara, Gil, Tom all great stuff. I don’t have any Tom ogs I need to change that on my trip. I sampled Brother Ahh it’s really good. Smart to record on election night. I hope you are doing well. Cheers!
Was very happy with the Brazilian lps I found though there were many I didn't know. Could've used your help! I highly encourage all the Brother Ahhs! Be well!

Tom Ze wow that one that on my wantlist killers artist a very important record of Brazil a game changer . Man you looked like you had fun especially meeting fellow VC members very cool Dom.
Hey Lovell! yes you would love the offerings. Plenty to drool upon. But you need a hell of a budget. Luckily mine was pretty decent. Brazilian lps are a major focus for me at this fair. Hope you are well!
Very productive trip. Been waiting for this video. Cool seeing the Viva Last Blues OG. This Heat score! Maybe I’ll take your reissue. Lol. Yes, love seeing the 🇧🇷 scores. I have a reissue of the Zé. Awesome Veloso album. I know of Correa, but never seen that album. Chatting up Ira Kaplan! Fantastic! I’m very much like you in those situations. Cheers, Dom ✌🏻
I just needed Dave around to be johnny on the spot to snap a pic. New York fairs, and this fair in general, has tons of Brazilian. 2-3 major dealers. Would be worth coming for that alone. They price on the higher side but discount pretty significantly. Probably cause you can find them there somewhat easy. But a productive as hell and enjoyable trip. For some reason, I've been keeping the This Heat reissues...🤔 Just like the quality of em
Glad I wasn’t the only one that gorged at the fair, ha. Fun to meet you and the guys Dom. Always enjoy hindsighting on things I missed or can learn about. The “one day only” dealers threw me for a loop; was expecting to buy things on Day 2 from dealers who evidently were Friday only. My wallet needed the break 😂
Hey Chance. good to meet as well. I had that happen last year. Once of the excellent dealers didn't turn up for day 2 and was counting on it. I see you've just posted a recap so will be checking in with that later
