The bench led by Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud, Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra are hearing a series of petitions concerning the controversial NEET-UG 2024 medical entrance exam.
These include pleas alleging irregularities and malpractices during the May 5 test and seeking a fresh examination. During a previous hearing on July 8, the Supreme Court said that the integrity of NEET-UG 2024 had been compromised.
The bench was scheduled to consider several petitions about the controversial NEET-UG 2024 medical admission examination. These include pleas requesting a new exam and claiming anomalies and malpractices during the May 5 test. The Supreme Court declared that there had been compromises to the integrity of NEET-UG 2024 during a prior hearing on July 8.
On the last hearing date, the bench requested the Union's and NTA's answers regarding the scope of the paper leak and the potential separation of the guilty from the rest of the group during the most recent hearing date. The Court stated that a retest might be required if the integrity of the exam as a whole has been compromised, and it is impossible to distinguish between the applicants who benefited from fraud and the sincere ones. The Court further stated that the retest would be the last option given the impact on around 24 lakh students.
23.33 lakh students appeared for NEET-UG 2024 on May 5 across 4,750 centres in 571 cities, including 14 cities overseas. The NTA-conducted test is the entrance test for admissions to MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, and other related courses in government and private institutions nationwide.
In a separate petition filed on Wednesday, the Center said that the Ministry of Education has asked IIT Madras to perform extensive data analytics of the NEET-UG 2024 candidates' results in accordance with the Supreme Court's orders. The Center notified the Supreme Court that there was no proof of widespread cheating or of certain candidate groups illegally profiting from anomalous NEET-UG 2024 ratings.
As per the Center's additional affidavit presented to the SC, IIT Madras carried out data analytics on the NEET-UG 2024 results. Experts discovered no anomalies in the marks distribution, which conformed to a bell-shaped curve characteristic of large-scale tests.
In their affidavit, the National Testing Agency (NTA) claims that the video posted on Telegram on May 4 purporting to display a picture of the NEET UG exam paper was fake. It further stated that the timestamp had been tampered with to provide the impression of an early leak.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) is yet to file an affidavit in Supreme court in connection with the steps taken to identify the candidates who benefited from the NEET-UG paper leak.
The apex court on Monday had asked the NTA to file a status report and affidavit with all the details by 5 pm on July 10.
The apex court had also asked about the first incident of paper leak that took place, the manner in which the question papers leaked were disseminated, and the time duration between the occurrence of the leak and the exam on May 5.
The apex court said that there was no doubt that the NEET-UG held on May 5 was compromised by a question paper leak.
A bench of Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud and Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra said that the fact that the sanctity of the exam has been compromised is beyond doubt.

Disqualify the wrong doers
Students they don't believe in NTA anymore. In order them to trust Reneet to all the students is v important at this moment. Same questions paper to be appear to more than 23 lakhs students in order that there will be transparency.
CJI and court should pay attention to the press note released by the EOW Bihar police because it declared some very important information and course of investigation
Don't publish NEET-UG. It should be filled with rich students which will be comfortable for agency.

Sir, in every college and coaching institute a NEET test is conducted on the basis of reduced syllabus every week. Considering 50 such tests, students usually get an average score. The reduced syllabus doesn't affect in solving 180 questions and getting marks. Please think in this regard too. Reduced syllabus increased 2024 NEET aspirants' ranks and score is a joke of the year.
Yes and if you look into the details of the reduced syllabus you will know only those topics are deleted which didn't used to come in previous years neet exam mostly introduction and some specific topics. Overall aspirants are always recommended to study the entire chapter even if there is a deleted topic in that chapter they study that topic too because no guarantees. And NTA this year also added topics into our syllabus

This NTA must be banned immediately. This NTA has lost credibility in full. This kind of entrance test/admission test must be controlled and organised by each state government as it was before. The union government is also failed in maintaining honesty and justice in controlling these kinds of examinations. This scam clearly shows the severe callousness on the part of the union government.
