I do agree that J'onn Jonzz aka Martian Manhunter definitely deserves his own movie. He's powerful, he has a tragic and interesting backstory, and he still has a good heart despite the tragedy of his past. Martian Manhunter worked well in the justice league and justice league unlimited shows, as well as Supergirl, justice league new frontier, and the Superman man of tomorrow movie as a main character or side character, so he can star in his own movie. This video also had a good pitch for a Martian Manhunter movie.
I love the modern interpretation where the Martian Manhunter takes on the appearance of African heritage. The experience of a Black man in America during the Civil Rights movement just adds many layers to J'onn and his experience on Earth. I also like the idea that he is the last Martian alive because it makes the impact of his brother being alive hit more. The same goes for M'gan, although she is later revealed to be a white Martian. If the character was to have his own movie, ideally the team behind Lovecraft Country would be behind it. Not every superhero, especially in their secret identity, needs to be an Olympian. This could easily be a great role for Donald Glover or Lakeith Stanfield. These are just my opinions. I'd love to hear some feedback.
I love this. I think the parallels between manhunter on his home planet of mars and the ways in which his people were treated compared with how African American people were treated on earth (especially during the time period I’m hoping they go for) is crazy impactful. It doesn’t even need to be in your face or a subversion from the rest of the story but there are thousands of subtle ways it could be implemented to have its peak impact felt on the audience in a way that doesn’t even require dialogue. I’ve never seen lovecraft country in it’s entirety but I can definitely tell the vibe it gives off and how it could apply to a manhunter movie in a number of ways. I’m also not the biggest Donald glover fan but lakeith stanfield could most definitely body this role Goat comment
Ive always loved mmh his powers abilities and back story speak for themselves. regarding cyborg however, given all the many types of technology and alien and earth based biotech ( and the mother box technology he ALREADY HAS AT HIS DISPOSAL) there's absolutely no reason cyborg needs to look like that ! He could have all his abilities and still look human and have a dick thereby, eliminating all his angst sure id be mad if my dad never paid attention to me ( anyone would) but his whole "I'm a monster thing is stupid" cuz there are thousands of ways he could circumvent that without having to loose sight of what makes his character interesting. Yeah he couldn't compete in athletics but other than that he could easily lead a normal / super life no problem.
