This is part 9 of the SPRING IS IN THE AIR Tour by MV Lady Liselot.
After I had done a 'tour Stampersplaat' on foot on March 1, 2022, I decided to continue sailing to an even smaller island on the Grevelingen, namely Ossehoek. I spent the night there and then also had a look at that island.
Nederlands:
Weet je dat Nederlandse ondertiteling aan kan zetten? Doorgaans zo'n 4 uur nadat de video is gepubliceerd. Klik op de video, en kies uit de iconen die rechtsonder verschijnen dan voor [ondertiteling] en kies daar voor Nederlands. Dan wordt zelfs mijn Engels (knap he van UA-cam) vertaald naar Nederlandsch.

Nadat ik op 1 maart 2022 een 'tourje Stampersplaat' te voet had gedaan, besloot ik om door te varen naar een nog kleiner eiland op de Grevelingen, namelijk Ossehoek. Daar heb ik overnacht om vervolgens ook dat eiland eens te bekijken.
Super leuk trouwens dat je deze video hebt gevonden. Ik ben Henk-Jan, en behalve dit kanaal, kan het zomaar zijn dat je mij online op nog meer plaatsen tegen komt. Ervaringen en kennis delen via bewegend beeld, blijft nu eenmaal leuk. Vind ik dan. (en jij blijkbaar ook, want anders las je dit niet)

Omdat ik veel (bootjes-)kennissen heb die in het buitenland wonen, heb ik besloten om de video in het Engels te doen. Wellicht vind je het 'steenkolen Engels', vergeef me dat dan maar, want zij die uitsluitend Engels spreken of Engels ook als 2e taal hebben, zijn al heel blij dat ze op deze manier mij kunnen volgen. Helaas betekent dit dat een aantal Nederlanders die het Engels niet machtig zijn, de video's lastiger kunnen volgen. Helaas is dat zo.
Maar, als je het desondanks toch leuk vindt, dan maak je me blij met die Thumbs Up.

Slowly, Slowly.... I tried to steer my car at 100km/h and type emails and what;sapp messages. Long before it became a violation in The Netherlands. It proofs that I even I have done stupid things. Will not do that again when I drive the car. But since I had a little practice then, I still managed at 6km/h as you saw.

Hey Rick, yep, nailed it again. Yhe walk the day before was not that cold because it was end of the afternoon and hardly any wind. The wind from the NE was chilly.

Hoi René, elke keer als ik al die reacties lees, dan verschijnt er een glimlach op mijn gezicht. Als ik dan vervolgens over de Kaag en de Westeinder vaar en ik iedere 20 minuten een thumbs up krijg of iemand hoor roepen "Ik volg jou", dan is dat super leuk.

Exactly Peter, I love it. I do not like the marina's. I go there to pick up water and then I leave to drop anchor again. Sometimes I pick up a jetty like you saw in this video, but I like being on my own.

I so enjoyed another great episode, all of it. I especially loved the aerial clip you took of the ponies running on the Dutch island. It reminded me of the Chincoteague ponies that roam free on the Assateague Island National Seashore in the states of Virginia and Maryland. Its one of the many great treasures we have in life. Hello Dan, sometimes I work many hours on a day on my business, stuck in my tiny office space, and then I decided to go to the flybridge and catch some sun. So great. Since I do not have a summer berth and just live on anchor, only in the weekend I have neighbours, so I am fine.
@@MVLadyLiselot Henk-Jan, I know exactly what you mean. I don’t have the luxury of owning a live aboard boat but I am surrounded by lakes and undeveloped forests and lots of wildlife. Now that Spring has finally arrived I’ll be able to leisurely walk the many trails outside my front door with the dogs! It’s my little corner of heaven.😉

If my dinghy crane would not have broken this summer, I would have come to London. One will not tow a dinghy on the Northsea, caus there is a 97% change you loose it in the waves. So I was in the Seaport. Crane broke and could not fix it quick enough, so I decided for a tour through the Northern part of The Netherlands. I visited singlehanded Wight and Channel Islands before on my cutter, and I will for sure visit the UK with Lady Liselot.

This is a beautiful place for boaters I went there last year many nice yachts to sea and some nice marinas to berth your vessel look forward to seing more content thanks again for the videos great stuff 👍👌

Hoi HJ.. ik las het volgende ergens op een forum:
"Mollen kunnen zwemmen. Op de eilanden op de Grevelingen zitten ook
reeën en konijnen. Die beestjes kunnen allemaal zwemmen. Begin mei
zagen we twee herten zwemmen van de Ossenhoek naar de dijk tussen
Scharendijke en Den Osse. Rustig, alsof er niks aan de hand was."
Nu is het niet zo ver zwemmen van port zelande / kabbelaarsbank, dus dat lijkt me best aannemelijk. En in elk ander geval kan het inderdaad ook zomaar zijn dat ze zijn meegenomen bij het storten van aarde op het eiland. (al zie ik me dat toch slechter voor me)
Leuk filmpje! Wat mij betreft tuf je rustig verder door Zeeland, maar om het even. Zolang jij maar lol hebt!
En toch blijft het vreemd. Een beest dat bijna blind is, bedenkt op een goede dag: “Ik ga een stukkie zwemmen”. Als hij (of zij en alle vragen die dat weer oproept?) 3 graden naar rechts zwemt, mist tie het eiland en duurt het 3 dagen voor dat hij de Grevelingen is over gezwommen. Geen supportteam dat mee vaart en m aanmoedigt. Ik vind het nog al wat. Hahaha

Reckon the moles got there along with the owl and the pussycat in the pea green boat! Thanks for the earlier explanation about the jetties in the previous vlog. The facilities provided for mooring up are brilliant and in such beautiful surroundings. I sense you were getting somewhat emotional about your situation and obviously reflective about life. I knew there had to be a simple explanation. Yes This lake is watersports friendly. Very very busy in the season, so that why I like to go there from oktober till eind of march. ;-)

Yes Andy, it is a famous spot for campers because of the watersports one can practice.
Another great video Henk-Jan. I know the Grevelingen lake very well. It’s one of the top spots in Sealand. Enjoy the nature and silence on this little island near the Brewer’s dam.

Henk-jan, nog een mooie aanlegmanoeuvre en een mooie wandeling op het kleine eiland Ossehoek om een prachtig klein eiland te zien. Ook mooi zicht op LadyLiselot met de drone. Voor de mol, heeft ze superkrachten, ze kan 25 keer haar gewicht tillen, reist met 3,6 km/u door haar galerijen en kan zwemmen. Mogelijkheid om te zwemmen vanaf natuurgebied Kabbelaarsbank om in Ossehoek te komen. Nu wacht ik op de volgende video
Ja die vraag over die mol, zet iedereen aan het denken over de wonderen van de natuur.

Finding the right music that fits the atmosphere I wanna share sometimes really is difficult. Takes me a lot of time to find the right songs. Glad you like that too.
Henk-Jan it appears you have definitely made the right choice for yourself given your current situation and the fact that the Dutch are so geared up to this type of life. Would you liked to have run a commercial barge?
At 20 YO, I have thought about buying a 38m barge and start a business with it, since I crewed on one. It took me 3 nights 'to sleep it over' and decided to go for IT. Happy with that decission.
@@MVLadyLiselot I have always been fascinated by the barges. I hope you tell us more about this venture and show us photographs in due course.one day I might even pay to go on a trip of a commercial barge...sort of bed and breakfast type arrangement and travel the Rhine or Waal
In de zoute Grevelingen, waar geen eb en vloed is, kan je op ondiepe plaatsen veel mosselen rapen. Ze zijn over het algemeen erg schoon van binnen, er zitten hooguit wat zeepokken op, maar die kan je er gemakkelijk van af krabben. Wij halen elk jaar wel een paar kilo uit het water... heerlijk!
Eet smakelijk, Sam, jij mag mijn portie hebben. Heb een keer een verkeerde mossel gegeten. 2 minuten later keerde mijn maag zich om en sindsdien laat ik ze links liggen.
Mollen kunnen goed en snel graven en zijn dol op regen wormen. Als de mol naar het eiland graaft kom hij zaagers of leegloper (zout water wormen) tegen , die smaken zout zo weet de mol dat hij onder het Grevelingen meer zit en nog niet onder het eilandje. als de volgende worm een regenworm is gaat hij naar boven . Met die tactiek zijn ook in de Engeland terecht gekomen.

Hallo Peter, maar nu breng je plotseling interessante informatie 'boven water' die ik nog nooit ergens heb vernomen. Ok, toegegeven, ik heb ik dit geval niet de wikipagina's geraadpleegd omdat ik benieuwd was naar de inbreng van de kijken. Dank je wel voor je uitgebreide antwoord! (de vraag die dan ontstaat is: maar wat zorgde er in hemelsnaam voor dat een mol besloot om naar Engeland te gaan? Dan moet je toch wel heel blind zijn....)

Henk, yet another great video, thank you. The mole question has facilitated some great answers and theories, most of which I can understand, but I view things simplistically. As the islands are man made, moles are in the soil dug up on the mainland and transported to the island by the barges. Often the simple things in life make sense. 😎

Hoi Dirk, Met een paar jaar vertrek ik naar het zuiden, de zon tegemoet, en of ik dat met dit schip doe of met een zeilboot, dat moet zich nog uitwijzen. In NL heb je meer aan een schip als dit ivm veel koud weer, en bij jullie leef je meer buiten. Als ik in de Med ben, is jouw eiland zeker een 'must go to'. Wat is voor jou de reden om daar nu te wonen?
Hoi Henk voor mij is het de zon en de relax living wij wonen 5 min van Cala Llonga in de campo en toch heel dicht bij de zee want dat is voor mij belangrijk je moet wel kijken naar de prijzen van de jacht havens want op Ibiza zijn ze duur maar op het vaste land vind je nog wel mooie stekjes voor een goeie prijs en het is een schiderend gebied om te varen
@@dirkvandertoornvandertoorn4895 Ik heb inderdaad begrepen dat de jachthavens tot de duurdere in de regio behoren. Als je niet veel plekjes hebt, en veel mensen willen er toch graag naar toe, dan krijg je het bekende vraag-en-aanbod en stijgt de prijs. Van alle verhalen die ik van andere heb gehoord is jouw eiland er eentje die wat met mensen doet. Op basis daarvan begrijp ik dat je er bent gaan wonen.
Had no idea about Ossehoek. I had a project at Port Zelande in the summer, nothing better than a holiday feeling during working hours. Nice boots btw, people who don't know you own a boat must think you're wearing 2 different boots haha
Hey Chris! Yes That area is a wonderful place, but I like it this way (as you know by now). I guess the non-boat owners think I wear different coloured socks also. (Which is the case, but no one sees it)

Hallo Henk-Jan. Bij toeval kwam ik jou video tegen op dit kanaal en ik moet zeggen, dat de video erg leuk in elkaar is gezet. Je lijkt wel een professional, hi. Maar evengoed heb ik je verhaal gelezen waarom je dit in het Engels doet. Maar mijn Engels is ook met (steenkool) effect en wat je al aangaf, als je voor de Engels taligen maar te volgen bent kom je al een heel eind. De plaatsen die je laat zien, daar had ik ook nog niet eerder van gehoord, dus al met al best wel leerzaam. In ieder geval bedankt voor de mooie opname`s.

Hallo Peter, I think the mole is a special phenomenon. Imagine: You live as a mole on 'the mainland' and one day you decide to go for a swim, because you 'heard' somewhere that there is a new unexplored area? Very wonderful.

@@MVLadyLiselot Hi Henk Jan, didn't the early human beings do the same ? Hawaii has been populated by Polynesians. They sailed roughly 3000 nautical miles without knowing where they would set their feet on dry ground again. Absolutely amazing.

I can remember that too. When I was a kid (ages ago, but be honest: still looking good!)
On average, after roughly every 50 generations, a slightly genetically different brood of moles are born that dig deeper than the others, which venture forth and are hyper-sensitive to salt in the soil. They set out with no guarantee of success but about 0.5% of them happen to surface on an island and colonize the same. I hope that satisfies your curiousity

Een goeie over de mol. Zwemmen kunnen ze zeker maar die eilandjes zijn ook niet zomaar ontstaan, dus grondaanvoer e.d. is een optie want die shofels nemen wel een bekkie grond en wellicht zat daar wel eens een molletje bij of.........het zijn gravers dus een klein kanaaltunneltje?

De mollen kunnen in de grond hebben gezeten die voor de maak van het eiland daarnaartoe vervoerd is. Er zijn er maar twee voor nodig……

Nou Henk 2 maal in een week je verwend ons je had net geantwoord op mijn tekstje wat bij mij notificaties staat op UA-cam zie ik gelijk een nieuwe show verschijnen heb hier gelijk een 2 scherm geopend om eerst jou show te kijken en volg het andere scherm op een later tijd stip Ook een leuk eilandje Ossenhoek inderdaad kleiner jammer toiletten gesloten nog even op houden ;-} Henk Ik denk dat de mollen gewoon met een lading modder naar het eilandje is gebracht struiken groeien lastig op zand maar kunnen ook mee gekomen zijn met de struiken. Leuke filmpjes hoor volgens mij heb je het eiland wel 5 x in de rondte gelopen. Ja mollen kunnen zwemmen maar in het zoute water?? Ze kunnen daar ook gebracht voor de grond.
Hahaha, ja John, het maken van een videotje zoals dat, vraagt een aantal extra meters. ;-) Een bioscoopfilm kijken we in 90 minuten af, terwijl de productie maanden of zelfs een jaar in beslag neemt. Dat is hier niet anders.

The vibrating is (was) when the engine ran idle. The window is not clipped cause it is heavy from itself. I brought the idle speed up 20 rpm and then it stopped.
It must be a bit strange to be all alone on a spooky island? Did you see any goblins, maybe those moles are really goblins? I suppose spies would be there, but don't forget that book "the riddle of the sands"?

Have you got a minor alignment issue on your starboard engine-shafting (the one that causes your window to vibrate)? What type of drive line have you got (V drive or direct line) and I presume you have a rubber flexible coupling?

De Grevelingen is gemaakt voor watertourisme, maar in het (vaar-)seizoen, zal je zien dat al die steigers vol liggen en er uiteindelijk te weinig aanlegplaatsen zijn. Ankeren is dan de beste optie. Daarom ben ik er graag buiten het (vaar-)seizoen, dan heb je het hele meer voor jezelf.

Well it has been a long time that I drove under the briudge of Alblasserdam. Months before I started the channel. If I have the right current-window, I will do sometime. The river De Noord is tidal, so I always must choose: Via Rotterdam, or Via Alblasserdam, Dordrecht etc.
