I followed everything exactly up until 3:09 but unfortunately I cannot see the unknown device.
I encountered the same issue with an HHKB keyboard using a Hasu controller inside - it needed to be flashed because it was not working correctly. This tutorial was exactly what I needed, thank you!!

Sir I Have done the same process but while converting into a joystick , it shows " 'else' is not recognised as an internal or external command,operable program or batch file.

This issue is because, the 16u2 chip on your Arduino board doesn't have bootloader.
We need to burn bootloader on 16u2 chip.
How to get it

I was trying to make the diy steering (with no ffb) using Aurdino uno R3 i followed everything perfectly but when i try to short my pins the aurdino does not change from Com to unknown 😔 (do you have any tips if yes it would be greatfull)
This is because, the 16u2 chip doesn't have bootloader.
Some manufacturers don't flash bootloader in that chip, some will have. Not possible to find out.
I will share some steps, but not tried.

When I attempt to install the .dll file I keep getting the error "The folder you specified doesn't contain a compatible software driver for your device. If the folder contains a driver, make sure it is designed to work with Windows for x64-based systems.". I can't find a solution anywhere. I'm using an Elegoo UNO R3 board with an ATmega16U2 chip. Do you have any idea how to fix this issue?
You can try these solutions.
Uninstall and reinstall atmel flip and repeat the same in the above video.
If didn't work,
Try steps mentioned in this site: windll.com/dll/atmel/atlibusbdfu
I tried it on two computers and the Atmel Flip had errors on Windows 11 but not on Windows 10
I guess you have to download windows 11 version from internet.
I dont know if you can help me and where to ask this, but my arduino is not entering dfu mode. It makes unplug and plug sound but it doesn't enter dfu mode.

I think your system doesn't have JDK installed. Try to install and also you need to add JAVA_HOME to your environment variable.

This is because your Arduino board 16U2 chip doesn't have bootloader.

I am getting this question from many people,
This might be because the 16U2 chip(which is just behind the USB port), does not have bootloader which takes care of firmware upgrade.
The solution is to burn bootloader on this 16u2 chip.
I haven't tried since my Arduino is already working.

I did exactly what in the tutorial, but the Flip program still does not detect the UNO board via USB
The error about "Atlibusbdfu.dll not found" no longer pops up, but it says:

I only have USB Serial CH340 in the device manager, I can uninstall this driver and install ATmega16U2 in the guide, but in Atmel Flip it does not detect any device, I still have the same problem in TurnIntoAJoystick.bat
On the (probably) processor on the UNO board I have Atmel ATmega328P written or maybe it has something to do?
I don't know anything about it, but it looks like the board drivers are missing all the time to become a UnoJoy
