I love that you only do things by the book when it really matters, seeing someone filing down piston rings by hand and having perfectly working boosted high power engines is great. Really makes me so much less anxious about doing engine work. Everyone else makes it seem impossible but you just have to pay attention to what actually matters...

Jep niimpä. Varsinkin 6-koneessa se on hyvin kriittinen osa koneen keston kannalta, vaikka moni ei koko dampperiin kiinnitä juurikaan huomiota.
Kampiakselin taipuma on puolet tuosta heittokellolla mitatusta kokonaisheitosta, eli tässä tapauksessa noin 0.02mm. Tämä siis silloin jos runkokaulat ovat pyöreitä. Yleisohjeena on akselirakenteesta riippuen 0.01-0.03mm/300mm.
Jep kyllä. Toki tuo miten mittasin tuo, on bemarin ohjeessa mainittu tapa ja tuolla mittaustavalla on se maksimi 0.2mm sallittu heittoa. taipuma on tosiaan vain puolet siitä.

Coincidentally, I ordered Honda rings today too - they were easier to find than the BMW ones - the only difference is the oil ring thickness.

Ite tuli laitettua 0,5mm välykset m.renkaisiin niin ehkä vähän se kuluttaa öljyä mutta eipä haittaa, uskaltaa ainaki polkea ihan huolella ku siitä me tykätään 😃
Joo se on ihan hyvä välys varsinkin turbovehkeeseen jos meinaa polkea kunnolla. Ei se ihmeitä öljyä syö siltikään.

Hello mate can i ask something, at asia the material blocks are alumunium and than blocks at UK material is nikasil, i have e46 code engine M52TUB25 i dreamed about strokeup my engine but i thing the material alumunium durabilty gonna wrong when i strokeup the engine, did you have a recomendation for the problem matte ?
The m52tu is always alu block with steel liners. You can stroke/boost it without worrying about the block.
I have m54b30 in my e46 I was thinking to put m52b28 crank and convert to 2.8litre. Do you think the m54b30 crank is worth changing over or with the precautions it is fine? Engine will be basically stock but revs high and stays there as its a drift car....

Pazi88 how do you transfer helix gear from camshaft to camshaft, is there special BMW tool? Turner Motorsport discontinued their helix gear timing tool. :(
I just eyeball it. There is plenty of adjustment range when timing the system.
Another great video. Im planning hi compression (11,5) m52b28tu. Is It safe for 95-98 fuel? What do You think?
With stock cams, you need to have pretty good active knock detection in ecu to have it safe. But with agressive cams (250+ degrees) it should be fine.

@@sauber8623 Yeah dynamic compression should be enough to run regular gasoline. I would still try to run 98 just in case.

Not really. Head is ported, but I'm waiting for my financial situation to get better to finish this.

I did this on my built m54 and it been working great for 10k km so far 👍. Search parkin racing , they make a tensioner for our engines and provide template where to drill.

Hi Pazzi, I’m planning on doing something similar. I’ll be using an M50B25TU block and N42 pistons. I just wanted to know what the correct rods are that I should use with an M52B28 crankshaft. I want to achieve the best budget high compression possible.
Katoin koko pätkän yhteen putkeen siltä seisomalta. Hyvää settiä jälleen kerran. Kasasin oman projektimoottorin alakerran viime lauantaina ja nyt oli mukava todeta, etten onneksi tehnyt pahoja virheitä. ;) Samaa Red Lubea laitoin ja ihan samasta syystä... Kateellisena katselin taas noita sun mäntiä ja kiertokankia. Olen myös miettinyt tuollaisen ultraäänipesurin hankintaa. Taitaa olla muttereiden, prikkojen ja pulttien putsaamisessa aika hyvä peli? Hyvää Joulua ja takarenkaiden savun täyteistä Uutta Vuotta 2021!
Tuo ultraäänipesuri on kyllä huippu. Nyt vähän vaan harmittaa et tuli ostettua tuo 2 litran malli, kun nyt oon nähny 10 litran mallejakin lähemmäs satasen hintaan. Sen kanssa ei tarvis niin kikkailla vähän isompien osian kanssa. Ja samoin sinne suuntaan kans!

Edit: my man just freehanded those holes for the oil pump Chain tensioner. With balls like that you don’t need girdles.

Why don't You use b28 crank instead b30 for high reving NA? 0.2 displacement will do better job then much higher stroke?

Shout outti vielä koska katat kaksi moottorimallia ja esität niihin mahdollisesti ristiin sopivat muunnos/paranus osien asennusta mm.. ketjun "laahaimet" ja kirraaja.
Kuullut niiden olevan ongelma monelle.
jotkut poraa pienen reijän pultin pään halki tai ostaa sellaset pultit joissa on jo reijät valmiina, ja laittaa pitkän rautalankan kaikkien läpi niin se estää pyörimisen.
kaverille tein joskus vanhasta fiskarin saksista sokka työkalun ja tein myös muutamaan vanhaan ruuvariin dremelillä hahlon jotta sai taitettua sokan samalla tavalla kun tuolla venttiili työkalulla aivan oiva idea hyöty käyttää jos on jotain mistä voi tehdä työkalun tarpeeseen kun tarpeeseen
Se on ahdistus sovite. Oisit lämmittänyt sen keskiön niin olis mennyt helposti paikalleen. Hyvää matskua taasen, mitenkäs se perän purku ja arviointi viteo? Hyviä jouluja bmw pajaan!
Yllätyin kyllämiten keviästi tuo meni sisään noinkin. Ei oikeestaan ollu tarve lämmitellä. Perävideo on tuossa editoinnissa menossa tällähetkellä. Saa nähä tuleeko siitäkin tämmönen tunnin pätkä, vai onko pakko pistää useampaan osaan.

Ahh Okk, I’ve seen some forums where people have used the s54 tensioner on the m50. I don’t know about the install as no templates are provided but here are the part numbers

Yeah I have thought about that, but haven't yet found suitable stock material to make that. I mean one that doesn't cost a fortune 😀

Really nice build, something I might try and do on my car. I have one question, if you went 84.25 oversize, what happens with alusil layer ? Is there any hardness in cylinder walls ?
M54/M52TU engines don't have alusil/nikasil. Those have cast iron sleeves from factory, so no problem going oversize.

Juu sillä on hyvä estää pultteja pyörimästä auki, jos se on riski.
Mukavaa kasausta! Jäikö lohkon tasopinta tarkoituksella plaanaamatta kun alulohko? Maxspeedingeissä ei myöskään ilmeisesti väliä kummin päin kanki tulee, esim. kohdassa 34:40 näyttää merkinnät sojoittavan eri päin.
Jäi tarkotuksella plaanaamatta, kun tasopinta oli niin hyvä kuin se nyt voi olla käytetyssä moottorissa. Ei ollu mitään syytä plaanata. Ja joo ne on symmetrisisiä, että ei väliä kumminpäin tulee. Toki vähän jäi ärsyttään, kun yksi meni vahingossa väärinpäin. Mutta en jaksanu ruveta purkaan ja kääntään sitä.

Nikasil cylinders can't really be repaired. If nikasil lining is gone, you need new block. This doesn't have nikasil block, but one with cast iron sleeves.
Hi, nice build, thanks for the videos. You should check the pin bolts that hold the chain guides. I recommend checking the torque they are tightened to and using some locktite on them. Why? A have 2 high mileage aluminium m52 blocks here where the bolts came loose and vibration destroyed the threads. Pinbolts and smaller chainguide fallen down and chain making strange noises.

Vaseliinit ei yleensä liukene moottoriöljyyn, niin se voi tukkia öljykanavia tai aiheuttaa muutenvain voiteluongelmia. Nuo asennusrasvat on suunniteltu niin ettei ne aiheuta ongelmia voitelun kanssa.

Nope. S54 and m54 are completely different engines.

From what I've heard the oil pump shaft breaking is mostly due to people going overkill on welding the sprocket and with the heat the shaft loses it's temper.
But that's just one theory amongst a lot of others
Well it happens with safety wires and other stuff also. So don't think it's the welding. And you would really need to fully weld it all around to have any affect on the temper.
I often go to the track with my m54b30 and I never had any problems with the pump (I built the engine myself). My theory is that people overtighten the nut (I've seen it a couple of times on YT)

Not really. I'm having budged issues, because the head related stuff is expensive 😅 I have gathered some parts etc. but nothing really worth making a video.
