- While on holiday in the Caribbean we visited the St.Kitts Scenic Railway. This was our third visit since 2009.
On this occasion I decided to video some of our day on the train.
Not having a tripod made it difficult on times to hold my camera still, as the train rocked back & fo.
We also experienced a heavy downpour of rain on our journey.
This narrow gauge St. Kitts Scenic Railway is one of the most beautiful train rides in the world. Originally built between 1912 and 1926 to deliver sugar cane from the fields to the sugar mill in Basseterre, the "Last Railway in the West Indies" now provides a fascinating way for visitors to see the island from the comfort of modern passenger train cars and sightseeing buses.
The 18 mile Railway hugs the Northeastern coastline where spectacular vistas of the ocean, surf, cliffs and lush vegetation surround you.
The train rolls across tall steel bridges spanning canyons, and winds through small villages and farms.
Dark green rain forests are skirted by rippling fields of sugar cane, with the volcanic cone of Mt. Liamuiga rising above the railway.
The railway owns and operates three diesel-hydraulic locomotives of the PKP class Lyd2 built in Romania.

Thank you very much for your kind comments. I dont remember the cost of the tour as we were booked in with a very large group. Hope you enjoy the railway.
It's around £114 each. Not cheap I'd say.
