      He is right about one thing, majority of court appointed attorneys are worthless , 95% of the time they'll tell you to plead guiltily..

    • @GuaranteedEtern
      @GuaranteedEtern Рік тому +5

      @@kingofkings69ner probably true...I think in this case though they looked at the evidence and thought it was overwhelming...not to mention that Bundy was facing charges in several other states which means had he been acquitted, he'd immediately be shipped to Utah, Washington or California for more trials. The smart move was a plea deal that all the other states agreed to that they would not pursue the death penalty if Bundy pleaded guilty.
      Apparently that's the arrangement they had come to, but Bundy refused to go along with it at the last minute.

      The complaints were mostly to drag things out. A smart tactic actually when you think you'll lose. And Cowert personally checked the jail conditions and sustained some concerns, like that the lighting was too low.

    I don't know how Bundy can complain about a lack of representation when he tried to micromanage everything and did not let them do their job .. he was his own worst enemy in the courtroom. Glad to see that judge just shot him right down after he berated his own lawyers ..
    1) That being said I think Bundy, in his deluded mind, was trying to setup the grounds for an appeal by complaining about this lawyers. The judge knew this and was making it clear he had every right to represent himself and that he had NEVER seen so many public defenders assign to one defendant.
    2) I don't know how Bundy's female lawyer can chum it up with him so freely knowing what she surely knew he was guilty of.

    see the female lawyer flirting with TEd and then bolting when the other lawyer came in to the room.

    • @TtrainInVain
      @TtrainInVain 6 місяців тому +1

      She wasn't flirting. She was doing her job. It's not what you see, but rather, how you see it. You see flirtation, I see a lawyer that is desperate and playing with a bad hand, trying to make the best of it and trying to inform their client that the road he was headed down, was probably a literal dead end by not pleading for life instead of continuing on

    • @TtrainInVain
      @TtrainInVain 6 місяців тому

      That's obvious, and not to try and sound like a smart as, he's still entitled to a certain degree of competent representation. Granted, what you said withstanding, he still should have a say in his defense. And he absolutely did. He had five separate appointed attorneys/pd's. To play devil's advocate here, if you were truly innocent (which we know HE wasn't), if your public defender told you, they didn't believe you had a shot at winning at trial and that you should take life imprisonment and be happy with that because the death penalty would be taken off the table, you'd be pretty upset. He was given multiple attorneys, the right to retrograde and dance around and back step to represent himself, sounds reasonable to me lol. Let's face it...even if he were afforded Johnny Cochran himself, Bundy still would have found a discrepancy to complain about. He's a spin doctor.

  • @TtrainInVain
    @TtrainInVain 6 місяців тому +3

    Margaret Goode and Minerva did the best they could with an absolutely abysmal hand. Their client had an ego the size of texas, he thought he knew more then them, felt superior in regards to knowledge of the law, and was on a crash course towards a literal dead end. All he had to do was take the plea deal they arranged for him, which, is essentially getting off. life imprisonment for exterminating dozens. In my opinion, that's a gift they handed him and he slapped it away like garbage. He was too smart for his own good. I'm sure he would have made a fine lawyer... but someone told him that, and it went right to his head. Then the electricity did. I feel so bad for Ted's younger brother Richard and i hope wherever he is, that he's okay. Hes a victim too. Someone could only wish to have a sibling as cool, laid back, and nice as him. Just a travesty for all the victims on both sides of that aisle.

    ...aussi cultivé et intelligent soit-il..., comment a t-il pu une seconde penser pouvoir "défendre sa cause"....??.....? Je n'arrive pas à comprendre comment il arrive à ne pas réaliser émotionnellement la gravité de ce qu'il a pû faire..et plaider pour lui-même...c'est absolument délirant que la Justice ait accepté qu'il puisse assurer sa propre défense..car cela crée un malaise inévitable dans la salle d'audience, un malaise non seulement parce qu'il se défend lui-même...mais parce que ce choix qu'il a pris le...condamne encore plus à mort, c'est une évidence. Sa plaidoirie est sa condamnation. Il est biensûr impossible de savoir si cet homme aurait évité la peine de mort s'il avait été défendu par un autre avocat que lui-même, mais en tous cas, il ne s'en est même pas donné la possibilité. C'est comme si il se condamnait publiquement à mort en vérité. Cette façon d'être qu'il a, calme, posé, avec une voix intelligente et charismatique nous met vraiment très mal à l'aise et en effet, comme dit ce Juge à la fin du procès, "vous avez choisi un autre chemin".... tout ça est terrible.
