    Welcome back to the Pomchi Pack! It has been a HOT MINUTE since I've seen you! Today's video is a bit different from my normal video, I must apologize for the lighting today! I couldn't set up my box light due to some recent health issues! I hope you can kindly disregard that! :)
    We will be making some shirts for my sweet dog Inde, I share her with my mom since getting married but have been keeping her over more full-time recently. I have made so many of these shirts for her as they are much cheaper than the $15 price tag on actual dog shirts! I hope you find this video helpful! If you have any questions or need any clarification on any of the steps, feel free to comment them below! I always reply within the same day! :)
    Also, if you would like to see a video of how I made the footie pajamas/onesie that was shown briefly in the video, COMMENT BELOW! I'd love to show you if you'd like to see it! (I also would love an excuse to make her another pair! ;) haha They are so cute and save her poor neck during her rough nights also! A win-win! :)
    Thank you so much for watching! If you are already a member of the Pomchi Pack, I must sincerely thank you from the bottom of my heart for being here for every video! I have 7 dogs and one of them was forever scratching, I narrowed it down, through trial and error, to poultry, especially chicken, grain and cereal! Took a long time, but now I just give her tripe. I used to give her the raw tripe but the smell is bad then found a tinned dog food that is just pure cooked tripe, no additives, no grains or cereal, no chicken, duck or turkey and now she doesn’t scratch at all, if it isn’t food related it might be environment. With some dogs it can also be interbreeding. All the best with the bathing oil treatment, it sounds lovely, I could do with that myself and I bet it’s soothing on the dog.

    RE: Scratching
    I have a female American Bully named Princess. They are well known for their horrible skin conditions. When I got her, she was losing hair all around her tail, arm pits, back of neck and ears. I started by using triple antibiotic ointment and Palmers Cocobutter lotion.
    I then read that dogs like this need lots of natural fats in their diet, so I started feeding her raw ground beef at least once everyday.
    It took about 2 weeks, but her coat is now so soft and shiny, and all her hair has grown back. The sores are gone too. The great thing about natural meat fats is they build the immune system (works for people too), which helps to counter the allergy naturally.
    Her ears still itch. They have been clipped, so they get dry, but I rub the Coco butter on every few days. And her skin stays nice and soft.
    Hope that helps!))

    Thank you so much for this video. My dog is just now getting out of spay surgery and the vet said that if she could wear a "onesie" then she didn't need the "cone of shame". I ran to the thrift store to get baby clothes and found your video. Now I'm going to get sewing before she comes home. Thanks so much again.

    I had a little dog with the same itch problem. My Alma Mater is Purdue University so I took him to a Purdue Vet School Professor. We never did narrow down the cause but he told me to put a teaspoon of veg. oil, just plain veg. oil on his food 2 x a week until healed and then go to once a week. I don't know how it worked but it worked like a charm! now my little dog was not quite 20 pounds so in your baby's case I might cut that amount by half if you decide to try it but I had to be sure to drop the dose when he stopped scratching so much. His skin that had been so dry felt nice and his hair actually got softer. Now this was more than 20 years ago. I will tell you that I have a cocker spaniel now and I have been giving him Pet Hemp Oil (CBD) to control his seizure disorder and I notice his skin and hair has also become soft and smooth and what little itching he did has come to a stop. I hope if you decide to try one of these suggestions out, they help your little one.

      Excellent ! Thank you so much! We will definitely be trying the vegetable oil! We have been giving her CBD dog treats for about 2 months now, we have seen improvements but she's still itching and losing hair 🤞
      We are so appreciative for the tips and suggestions we've got on this video! We are in the process of trying them all to see if we can help her feel more comfortable!

      We used to put “corn oil” on the horse feed so vegi oil for dogs seems reasonable. Just did a 1/2 tsp for my 7 pound mini poodle. She is wolfing down her food right now and she rarely will eat like that. She grazes mostly. Praying it will help her as well. Thank you!

      Sometimes a dog's guts get out of wack and they need probiotics in the form of yogurt. Most dogs love it if mixed with a bit of ice cream...

    My dog had same thing and our vet suggested the cytopoint injection it worked like magic! The first shot it took about 20 minutes and he wasn’t scratching anymore. It’s once a month and I believe it’s about $60 a shot, but so worth it.

    • @PomchiPie
      @PomchiPie  3 роки тому

      We have actually tried that for her, it helps for about 48 hours then she's back to scratching again worse than before :/ we believe we have figured out what her conditions are this last vet visit. It's a combination of a couple different conditions. So hopefully we are in the right track this time! 🤞 Thank you so much for watching! 😍 Glad you enjoyed the video!

      Absolutely! So happy I could help!! Inde rips through hers so fast it's too expensive to keep replacing them at $8-$15 a piece! Since I invented this method it's been a huge money saver! And a time saver too! Since I've tried several other ways, making ones from scratch even and this literally takes me 5 min now that i have her measurements that i need i can just modify it and put it in her clothes drawer and forget about it! 😅

    Allergy tests are worth their weight in gold. My Pom X turned out o be allergic to rice, carrots, beef, oats, rye and corn as well as many environmental things like pollens. She went in a strict diet and immunotherapy injections with a serum made just for her. 5 years on her allergy symptoms appear briefly now and again, but she is still almost entirely free from her allergies.

    We use Colloidal silver on our fur baby's allergies She showers every day (oh NO) if we don't she itches and breaks out and we use an organic human shampoo and conditioner on her after spending heaps on the dog stuff. We also keep her off wheat and chicken and don't allow her to lay on grass. She is short haired though as she is an English Staffie. It works for her.

    Such a great idea!! Try apple cider vinegar for your dear Indy...your probably tired of suggestions at this point but apple cider vinegar is very helpful internally and externally as well in final rinse during bathing. I would ask my vet if they can do a do a skin scraping to determine if it could be something more than allergy related. Psoriasis in dogs isn't common but it could be the culprit, it could also be other things too besides just itchy skin. There are many natural medicines besides prescriptions to heal problems so try researching and get to the root of the real problem. Then treat.. if all the allergy meds aren't working there's a reason that isn't allergy related. Good luck keep making clothes!!

    My dog has a similar situation with her skin, she especially scratches this specific part on her back and wont stop, even if it bleeds. We use clothing to prevent it but there arent really fashionable dog clothing nearby, but thanks to this our dog can be fashionable and healthier!

    • @PomchiPie

      I'm so happy i was able to help!!
      It's been so convenient to be able to make cute shirts for her while also being able to protect her from making her condition worse. Not only are they cute and fashionable for those who don't have many pet stores in our area but it is significantly less expensive than paying $15 for a dog shirt online or in store!
      We recently had my husband's aunt, who is a fantastic vet, take a look at Inde and we are pretty confident we discovered what's going on with her. It's a combination between a yeast infection and seasonal allergies. With some other things in the mix as well that we have to get under control and then in the future we will do maintenance with medications as well as cleaning treatments Etc :-) I plan to do an update video when we see if this will show progress for Inde :-)

    Thank you. I love this video. It has inspired me to make a shirt for my dog. We recently purchased a little sweetie named Coco. I'm happy this is something I can do for her and possibly save money and make it personally myself. I'm sorry to hear your little precious is and still is probably having issues loosing hair. I wash Cocos items using All detergent with no dyes and perfumes for sensitive skin, and I use white vinegar as conditioner in the rinse cycle. Just poor 1/4 c -1/2c. The vinegar breaks down the leftover detergent chemicals on the items you wash for them. It could help whatever condition your little precious has.

    Hubby and I just your video and we have same issue with doxies and have tried everythin' from shots as well. 3 bets said fish oil, not coconut oil as it does nothin' for anythin'. So we did, we bought nutro can dry. Read ingredients that has no yeast of anythin' and for skin and fur. They stopped tearin' themselves up to where they had massive sores and dermititis. Still itch some but not like before. Also we were told apaguil I think it's spelled may be needed, kind of like a fibromyalgia thing where brain tells em' they itch. Ours calmed down so much we haven't yet tried the apaguil. Now before anyone starts one, this is just what 3 different vets told me.

    Great tutorial! Can't wait to make some shirts for my furbaby. I know how frustrating it is dealing with allergies, trying to find the cause, and trying to find the best remedy for your pup. My pitbull has horrible allergies...it's like he looks at grass and he starts itching. Through lots of trials I have found he has environmental allergies as well as food allergies (chicken). He also is more prone to yeast infections, so he's now on a grain free diet and that helped a lot. I give him a pre & probiotic, which again helped...but the biggest help was a tsp of raw local honey! When he doesn't have his shirt or boots on I wipe him down, but you can't do anything for the pollens and allergens they inhale and because of that the honey helped so much. Hope your baby is feeling better!

    Hi I see your moms puppy has skin allergies which have not been able to be diagnosed. Have you ever discussed with your/her vet regarding the possibility of having Cándida which is a yeast infection but its through out the skin not like a typical yeast infection. We had the same issues with out Morkie which resulted in many many vet visits, different medications until we took our little one to a dermatologist which finally diagnosed her having Cándida. It’s a build up of yeast which causes extreme itching, smelling a bit like corn chips, and is extremely uncomfortable for our fur babies. You might want to look into this online and then perhaps address with vet regarding it possibly being the issue. Send many positive vibes your way and for your fur babies. From Charly 🐶

My dog takes monthly flea prevention and he is flea combed after his 1 trip outside daily. My husband even treats our whole property for fleas 4 times a year . He is on a high quality grain free food. He keeps all the hair from his neck back scratched off . He will scratch until he bleeds. • @PomchiPie
      @PomchiPie  3 роки тому +1

      I have been buying her discount pairs of dog pajamas recently, but if I make another pair of the onesies I will make a video! It's kinda case by case depending on how it fits your dog to begin with. But it's a similar process. You take their measurements of their entire body length and find the size that most closely suits their measurements. Then you put it on them, if it's the right size their feet should fit snugly in the feet of the PJs. The arms in front can easily be shortened but the body and legs need to be just right or it's near impossible to modify, if you're a beginner like me. 😅 Then the trick is to try the pajamas on your dog inside out and pin the sides in to taper to their body starting from the armpits of the pajamas all the way down to their hips. Take the PJs of your dog and sew down the pin line you made on both sides. Then for the feet if they have a tendency to get their feet stick in the legs of the pajamas add an elastic at the ankles that fits snugly so their feet can slip into the legs as much :)
      Hope this helps! I will try to make another video explaining how to make the PJs but like I mentioned it's a pretty case by case alteration but those steps I mentioned above apply to all. With an exception of a few steps such as making the foot a little smaller by sewing around the outside and cutting off the excess (including the heel portion of the footie) :)

    • @PomchiPie
      @PomchiPie  3 роки тому +1

      Excellent question! If you check out the dog closet tour video i briefly explain it. It's less straight forward that the shirts as more adjusting needs to be taken into account, but essentially you just taper it in around their body and sew it to their dimensions :) i also suggest adding an elastic around the ankle at the foot and clipping off and sewing in the heel portion to make it more snug with their foot to prevent the. From slipping out their paws and potentially getting their legs stuck and hurting themselves. ❤️

    I suggested "Dog Toy/Baby Toy" as a baby shower guessing game. It was not appreciated.

      We've gotten her tested and removed anything with even the slightest response on the allergy test and no noticable change was seen. After years of trying to find the cause we are working on just managing symptoms and helping her be comfortable until we can find it the cause. ❤️

      Thank you for your ideas! She has been to many vets many times and they have tried everything they can think of, from allergy shots all the way to antibiotics and other medications and medicated shampoos. They have come to the conclusion that it seems to be environmental as she goes through flares and remissions as the seasons pass. Early spring and late fall seem to be the most irritating for her skin and other times she's not too bothered and he skin is nice, soft and supple. But during her flares we have to keep her clean, keep her in clean shirts and protect her from herself so she doesn't tear up her skin during her flares!

      Nope, we don't have a cat and her and we give her and my other dog, Ozzy, the same food. I have tried her on Raw diet and noticed small improvements over a year however, unfortunately the results were nothing significant enough to quantify what the cause of her discomfort is and justify the added expense of the ingredients. :/
