We trained to respond initially one for one then one and a half to one then two to one then 2 1/2 to one then three to one then 3 1/2 to one then four to one then 4 1/2 to one and then 5 to one five to one is never expected to be achieved in combat. We’re happy to get two to one train five to one.
Not wrong but what isn't being said is that the common 5 for 1 movement isn't for actual real combat it is training, and you are educating the body to reactions. Of course, you can't do a dozen things while they hold their arm out there, but that isn't what the training is for. Concepts, reaction, timing, flow and many more reasons for the unrealistic 5 to 1, yet that part is never talked about by those that insist what they are doing is right and whatever else is being done is wrong. 1 for 1 is also great training but so is 5 for 1. Just for different reasons.
This among many other reasons is why I have so much respect for the functional usages and methodologies found within Sayoc Kali.
Very profound observations, great clip!
Yeah miss my Sayoc days with Guro Bob Shin, if you get a chance to take this it's worth it.
I would love to train with this man.
He’s in PA
Thanks
