My uncle was in the US army during Vietnam. His truck convoy got caught in a spraying of agent orange. He said the cloud was so thick the column had to stop until it dissipated. All the men in that unit who had babies were either deformed, dead, or both. He never had children because of it. He died last year to cancer, thought to be a side effect of agent orange exposure. So sad for both sides. I feel for all the people affected by it.
The pain continues to this day. We opened the door to the Americans, even the veterans also say they don't feel hostile when they come here. They meet their personal enemies in peace. But the American chemical companies still do not compensate us. Somewhere in the world people still think that the USA helped South Vietnam to fight the North. Thanks for the song, Sodom.
I really want to push for a compensation project. Hopefully it will happen when those affected are still alive, though it's a genetic issue that continues on to this day. The Supreme Court even sided with the lower courts in 2008 that the US government, US military, and the several chemical companies involved were not liable to a compensation program, like US veterans got when they were exposed to Agent Orange. The case in the US Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit is called Vietnam Association for Victims of Agent Orange (VAVA) v. Dow Chemical Co.

The French insisted on ridiculously punishing terms at Versailles, even though other world leaders tried to get them to see reason. If anything resulted in the emergence of AH, it was how WWI ended. France was always going to pay for that. He never wanted to go to war with Britain, but they insisted by backing the Poles and French. Czechs and Poles certainly were not innocent victims when AH invaded in 1939. We now know so much more than ever about the interwar years as archives open and documents are found.
The irony of the whole situation is that all these Americans that you see in this video got damaged by this chemical and their children suffer the same way. Only corporations got wealthier and fatter. How history never changes, just saying.

Tom is an excellent writer, I'm sure he was inspired to write this song. The lyrics are mixed with the music and the theme. It is very understandable and does not need additional explanation. The voice seems to disagree with what happened those years to all those innocent people.
