My son liked this song. He died almost 2 years ago at the age of 26. I see why he liked it... besides the old country sound, he was always somewhere in the middle. He was very intelligent, but had no desire to go to college and get a job using the brains God gave him. He fumbled around doing different things until he found what he loved to do: fish... commercial fishing. He loved being on the water. It got him out of town and away from some bad choices he made and people who encouraged his bad habits. I'm so glad he had those times with nature. I have listened to this song so many times, and I just decided to share my story. Brant, I like this too. I love you, Mom
Currently serving as a diesel mechanic in the u.s army work my ass off every day to make a life for my wife and 2 sons, i listen to this song every morning just to remind my self why i do what i do. -SGT R

It doesn’t matter what walk of life you come from, everyone can relate to this song. This is country music to its core. Touches your soul. I’ve been a fan from day 1 of CJ. Keep it up brother!
Man you’ll never know how hard this song hits home with me!! broken home age 18 I dropped out of high school to work developing a trade to make money family went broke few years ago man this song keeps me going in this hard world but gotta keep your faith in the man upstairs and work yours ass off to be something nowadays god bless you man keep up the good music man I listen to this daily working on the farm keep it up man your fans appreciate you very much!
Hey brother well spoken. Work hard and trust in the lord . I am a Christian and in 2016 i lost my dad my mother in law and a first cousin in a span of three months. My faith was shaken to the core.I know it was by God's grace i made it through God bless you and your family
moved out when i was 19, dad lost his job and moved off to find better oppertunities, spent the last 7 years trying to make a living. finally got me a great job and a loving wife. dad still working to get back on his feet. this song hits home to so many people, god knows it hits me
I'm a farm hand running 96-112 hours 6 sometimes 7 days a week during the spring and fall and working 50 hours 5 days a week during the summer and winter. This song hits me in so many places. Every bit of it I can relate to in some way
It's funny... This song reminds me of how things are going in my life, too. Younger brother is hooked on drugs and depressed. Older brother has a Masters and is getting ready to become a teacher. I ended up getting my GED and working at Domino's for a while until becoming a truck driver now working for Navajo out of Denver while my whole family is still in Louisiana. I'm lucky enough to have a boyfriend who loves me and family out here in Denver. Never thought in a million years I'd actually make it here, but I did. I went from the kid everyone thought would amount to nothing to getting ready to buy my own place with the love of my life... Oh, how things change.
You should do one better and get you a truck and start your own company. That will show all those haters you had to deal with, hell some of them that were talking shit as kids are now not worth the gym off your shoe.
21 years old working 3rd shift full time as a maintenance technician and college full time during the day.. this song hits me hard. Good stuff Cody! Thanks for the inspiration!
I learn more on the freight docks driving forklifts on the 3 o'clock am shift in the winter time and man it got cold.... Man Cody your hitting the home of the heart
Im sure my don would love this song, he loved his music an he listen to a lot of country. He was gone 1 year Feb. 16, he passed away in 2022.That was the worse day of my life, and it hasn't gotten better not one second. My heart breaks when i listen to songs like this His name is Jason, he was just a down yo earth person, he worked hard an he loved his family, but he pretty much loved everybody. I miss him so much. Never though i could do this, an really still not sure. My heart is crushed, Jason sent his mom a song ( Beauty in the struggle ) its special ,its forsure her...love country music , somehow in ever song it tells a story... Thanks everyone for sharing 😢 country is all true... 💔
I'm drunk and flickering through these comments. Cody has a voice that can put me to sleep comfortably or pin me up to getting my truck stuck in mud or snow.🤜
Life's been rough my father died and my mother's struggling to lay her bills so I came home to her house just to help her. I don't like Florida but my family is here. She hasn't missed a payment on her house since I came back.
Really hits home here too. My dad died when I was 12, left home as soon as I graduated, mom didn’t need me on her! Went to work on the drilling rigs worked 7 days a week for 17 years. Doing real well now.
Couldn't have ever dawned on me, all the things that I would be I, I never really looked out quite that far It's never been a simple thing, to see the world with a Young man's brain with, an old man's heart, restless soul Yeah, my family went broke in my eighteenth year Dad took a job many miles from here that That was alright by me I was on my own I had a band, found a job, life was alright I worked when I had to, we played all the time Only, got through that first year of college alright But I learned more on the freight docks Driving forklifts on the 3 o'clock AM shift In the winter time, man it got cold Selling guitars on the west coast Going hungry, chasin' ghost around And around we would go And I saw it all tendin' bar at night Treatin' saints and sinners right Is a good thing to do all the time You never know who you're talkin' to But always know who's watching you Keep your feet movin' straight down the line I've known a lot of real good men, grad school or no school I've called em' my friends I'm I'm somewhere in the middle and that's just fine No, I don't give a damn how much money you make If your last shirt has pockets, take all you can take I'm Well, I'm goin' out with nothin' like I came in Cause I learned more on the freight docks Driving forklifts on the 3 o'clock AM shift In the winter time, man it got cold Selling guitars on the west coast Going hungry, chasin' ghost around And around we would go And I saw it all tendin' bar at night Treatin' saints and sinners right Is a good thing to do all the time You never know who you're talkin' to But always know who's watching you Keep your feet movin' straight down the line But I learned more on the freight docks Driving forklifts on the 3 o'clock AM shift In the winter time, man it got cold Selling guitars on the west coast Going hungry, chasin' ghost around And around we would go And I saw it all tendin' bar at night Treatin' saints and sinners right Is a good thing to do all the time You never know who you're talkin' to But always know who's watching you Keep your feet movin' straight down the line
Selecting in a warehouse, graveyard.. with a family, sleeping while they live and grow up, and work while they sleep hoping they are okay! A song for this working man.
Being the youngest child of the family...Im always in the middle of my siblings disputes, arguments, my nieces and nephews, aunts n uncles, my whole family, even friends...but I never choose sides or say bad things about no one...I simply just tell them to Stop!!, if you have nothing good to say, don't say nothing at all...Nothing Wrong With Saying Nothing At All...RIGHT??😊
mine and my buddy's favorite even though all his songs are great.. We are always talking about money and how it doesn't matter to us even though we make decent money.. He's a heavy equipment operator and and I'm a CDL delivery driver.. yall shouldn't give a damn about how much money we make... we are all going out with nothing like we came in 😉.. Friendships experiences and the memories are where it's at.. Don't ever take your good friends for granted. Make life good for the ones around you be generous and kind and you'll learn what life really is supposed to be about.
“I’ve know a lot of real good men. Grad school or no school I call them my friends. I’m somewhere in the middle and that’s just fine.” Damn cody you and I are one in the same my friend. Keep pumping out these beautiful songs.
Got out of the Army a few months ago and using the GI for school while I work on a freight dock and it is hard to justify college i feel like i’m learning pointless shit and not getting educated. Worked blue collar since I was 17 got my GED 10th grade and i’m just thankful to be working. Blue collar never fails and $$ doesn’t buy happiness.

My best friend played me all your songs before he died in march of 2021. We both thought they were the way to make it in life and I still live by your words or at least try to one day at a time. They say its progress not perfection. But thank you for your songs please keep them coming you got words of joy peace and wisdom. Dam good man and singer in my book.
This song means so much for me. I'm 19, just dropped out trying to find a job so I can support my family and start making a living for my future family.
I’m baffled as to why 612 people have this a thumbs down? One of the best country songs I’ve heard in some time. It’s hauntingly melancholy and speaks the truth.
Jinks has a way of singing that always moves me ... his words are so real... his voice is sooo damn sexy and no matter where I am in life ... he always puts a smile on my face
I'm a girl but I can so relate to this I listen to this song so much ,i love it ,and i got a feeling im going out with nothing like i came in ,hard work only gets the bills paid anymore nothing is like before ,i started work at a young age ,got what i need but I have lost so many family and friends this life is lonely my best friend of 45 yrs is laying in the morgue family dont have money to bury him so I'm sitting here listening to what makes me feel better MUSIC
Man I feal this brother, like his songs are written bout me as well. I've got a college degree, don't use it , I honestly worked at a department store for nine years , clock in for that hoot awel shift, hoppin on the forklift loading semii trailers for ten hours ( 16) during the Christmas season. And hell yeah it was cold but I learned more from them truckers and all the other real folk I worked with , than I ever did sitting in s damn class in college class. Yeah I got a degree but who was there for me after I finished. It was my Truckin buddies forklift driver's , god, family, and real America...kept that job for 6 years after school. The store's I was unloading for got shut down and hell no it wasn't Walmart! ..sorry for rambling ya ll but the choir of this song just hits me so perfect! Learned more driven forklifts at the docs ...Cody brother your music really hits me , all your topics songs that tell a story. Man Cody your gonna have to write a bad song sometime , or else your gonna be walking on water!
There is some good stuff out there... it just aint on the radio. I find most of this by starting a station on Pandora with the artist I like. Ive found a lot of good artists like that.
Out of all the country songs I've listen to there is somthing diffrent about cod jinks somthing real. I feel like he's singing about my life and most of our lives. Just a real ass dude
I ain't there yet but I'm working on it and it will be Willie, waylon, merle I can't put all there names but they will always be my honky tonk heroes and outlaws and God bless Cody Jinks
I have no idea what it is about this song specifically that makes me break down and cry. As I listen to it I just understand it all. It shows that all lessons aren’t taught in school, that the value of a man isn’t monetary or based on the level of education they have. The value of man is based on who they are as a person. Treat everyone the same until they give you a reason otherwise. Sometimes you will get lost on this big rock and find yourself in the middle of it. But that’s just fine
I'm a big Cody Jinks fan and this song is one of my absolute favorites. Very emotive... Grad school or no school...I'm somewhere in the middle, and that's just fine.
This is something I sure try to live by...the biggest thing I take away from this song is without the adventure/struggle to getting where you're going you don't really appreciate the end destination nearly as much!
I started caring hod at 14 and I am 42. I don’t swing a hammer anymore but I still wear boots and jeans to work. All that hard work in my younger years keeps me grounded.
@@pieself1111 may your hands never grow tired of the trade... That is hard work my Daddy did it and I!remember him sitting on the side of the bed and my Momma would have to put his work boots on him because his back hurt him so bad he couldnt bend down to do it. I've seen his hands crack in the winter time but he got up and busted his ass day after day for us and Momma died couple years ago that was the first time I ever seen him cry. They can keep their big money I'd rather have a man who knows what it means to be a man and I know as a good woman my place is right beside him daylight til dark if that's what it takes. Hang on to the things tgat last
Couldn't have ever dawned on me, all the things that I would be I, I never really looked out quite that far It's never been a simple thing, to see the world with a Young man's brain with, an old man's heart, restless soul [Verse 2] Yeah, my family went broke in my eighteenth year Dad took a job many miles from here that That was alright by me I was on my own I had a band, found a job, life was alright I worked when I had to, we played all the time Only, got through that first year of college alright [Chorus] But I learned more on the freight docks Driving forklifts on the 3 o'clock AM shift In the winter time, man it got cold Selling guitars on the west coast Going hungry, chasin' ghost around And around we would go And I saw it all tendin' bar at night Treatin' saints and sinners right Is a good thing to do all the time You never know who you're talkin' to But always know who's watching you Keep your feet movin' straight down the line [Verse 3] I've known a lot of real good men, grad school or no school I've called em' my friends I'm I'm somewhere in the middle and that's just fine No, I don't give a damn how much money you make If your last shirt has pockets, take all you can take I'm Well, I'm goin' out with nothin' like I came in [Chorus] Cause I learned more on the freight docks Driving forklifts on the 3 o'clock AM shift In the winter time, man it got cold Selling guitars on the west coast Going hungry, chasin' ghost around And around we would go And I saw it all tendin' bar at night Treatin' saints and sinners right Is a good thing to do all the time You never know who you're talkin' to But always know who's watching you Keep your feet movin' straight down the line [Chorus] But I learned more on the freight docks Driving forklifts on the 3 o'clock AM shift In the winter time, man it got cold Selling guitars on the west coast Going hungry, chasin' ghost around And around we would go And I saw it all tendin' bar at night Treatin' saints and sinners right Is a good thing to do all the time You never know who you're talkin' to But always know who's watching you Keep your feet movin' straight down the line Yeah and somewhere in the middle is just fine x2
I wish i could write music that touches ppls souls and makes them feel every word like it was written for them like ive been watching their life on a screen
I can't get enough of this song. Lost track how many times I've listened. This song is what I've been wanting to say to people for years but just didn't know how.
I totally get this. Working at a tractor factory, dry cleaners, seamstress, stay at home mom. My dad worked at a printing press company until he hurt his back. He taught me everything. This song is a lifelong favorite!! And this guy is being discovered every day by people who love this music, even if we gotta thank pandora and youtube.
My son liked this song. He died almost 2 years ago at the age of 26. I see why he liked it... besides the old country sound, he was always somewhere in the middle. God bless Mr. Jinks for making new country with a backbone and some substance. Nashville could learn a thing or two from him.
Yep if your going to do country do country music good stuff
That crap they make in Nashville now ain’t country. Jinks is one of the very few new singers who makes real country music! I Enjoy his tunes
Damnnnn! Funny how songs like this can stop you dead in your tracks letting all the raw emotions pour out! What country music is all about!
Gayle Cuttitta-Waskow AMEN!
This is the kind of music that will make my child number one, in what ever life distracts him with. I love you Aaron Levelle!
Shit damn near makes me cry every time I hear it
Agreed!! But “Real” Country not Rascal Flats, Florida Georgia Line type pop country.
This is the real deal!!
Its music like this that gets you through the hard times. I wish everyone peace in there daily life struggles and pray for a better day.
Same to j bud
Well said
3 years later, I wish you peace and I must say pray.
Please pray a lot, for me struggle is turning into survival .

The Steel Woods are a great band as well.
You've only just begun
This guy was in a metal band called unchecked aggression in fort worth Texas and he is a hell of a singer I love all his stuff
Currently in University and have found myself somewhere in the middle.
Grew up in a small town and was raised on the back 40 by a military father. Found I learned more in the woods, in bars, and with folks most would consider unsavory company than I ever have in University, but University has taught me its own lessons outside of the classroom.
I grew up in an area where rich people and ranchers live; kraft mac n cheese was a delicacy to me and dining out was very special. I wouldn't say we were poor so much as we were very low middle class. There was always a roof over our heads and food on the table but I had more lessons in humility than I can count. I would go to kmart, walmart, or the dollar store to window shop even though we couldn't afford the $0.99 beyblade toys. We are doing pretty good now. Mom has the same job in the same company and made it through a dozen or so rounds of layoffs somehow getting raises instead. Dad changed trades because of the recession and he's making decent money. I'm working and going to college because none of us can really afford to live here. This song hits home for us especially as blue collar workers. I can't help but feel if I got all of us out of California we would be living so much better and with so much less stress.
Come on down to "L.A."..lower Alabama the south is where it's atts
Dude if Kraft mac n cheese was a delicacy you were def not middle class. We were middle class and delicacy is more like tater tots n ketchup.
I remember when we upgraded to tater tots!!! That was only about 3 years back haha!
Frank Randise hjj
Hey buddy, Kraft mac&cheese is the bomb. I'll take it over homemade any day lol
I hear Alan Jackson in his voice in this song.
It doesn’t matter what walk of life you come from, everyone can relate to this song. This is country music to its core. Touches your soul. I’ve been a fan from day 1 of CJ. Keep it up brother!

" ...YOU NEVER KNOW WHO YOU TALKING TO, BUT ALWAYS KNOWN WOH IS WATCHING YOU "
Thanks
He is doing that!!
There is someone all way watching lol
Truth in the simplest of words!!! How truly awesome is that!!!!!

21 years old working 3rd shift full time as a maintenance technician and college full time during the day.. this song hits me hard. Good stuff Cody! Thanks for the inspiration!
I remember listening to his music before he got big and introducing my friends to his music, dude is an awesome artist.
Same here!
I learn more on the freight docks driving forklifts on the 3 o'clock am shift in the winter time and man it got cold.... Man Cody your hitting the home of the heart
Man this song makes me cry like a baby
I think this might be the perfect country and western song😛🍻
Life's been rough my father died and my mother's struggling to lay her bills so I came home to her house just to help her. I don't like Florida but my family is here. She hasn't missed a payment on her house since I came back.
Really hits home here too. My dad died when I was 12, left home as soon as I graduated, mom didn’t need me on her! Went to work on the drilling rigs worked 7 days a week for 17 years. Doing real well now.
Keep a bind on it hand
Couldn't have ever dawned on me, all the things that
I would be I, I never really looked out quite that far
It's never been a simple thing, to see the world with a
Young man's brain with, an old man's heart, restless soul
Yeah, my family went broke in my eighteenth year
Dad took a job many miles from here that
That was alright by me I was on my own
I had a band, found a job, life was alright
I worked when I had to, we played all the time
Only, got through that first year of college alright
But I learned more on the freight docks
Driving forklifts on the 3 o'clock AM shift
In the winter time, man it got cold
Selling guitars on the west coast
Going hungry, chasin' ghost around
And around we would go
And I saw it all tendin' bar at night
Treatin' saints and sinners right
Is a good thing to do all the time
You never know who you're talkin' to
But always know who's watching you
Keep your feet movin' straight down the line
I've known a lot of real good men, grad school or no school
I've called em' my friends I'm
I'm somewhere in the middle and that's just fine
No, I don't give a damn how much money you make
If your last shirt has pockets, take all you can take I'm
Well, I'm goin' out with nothin' like I came in
Cause I learned more on the freight docks
Driving forklifts on the 3 o'clock AM shift
In the winter time, man it got cold
Selling guitars on the west coast
Going hungry, chasin' ghost around
And around we would go
And I saw it all tendin' bar at night
Treatin' saints and sinners right
Is a good thing to do all the time
You never know who you're talkin' to
But always know who's watching you

Rings Of Saturn Natural Selection thank you
Selecting in a warehouse, graveyard.. with a family, sleeping while they live and grow up, and work while they sleep hoping they are okay! A song for this working man.
Being the youngest child of the family...Im always in the middle of my siblings disputes, arguments, my nieces and nephews, aunts n uncles, my whole family, even friends...but I never choose sides or say bad things about no one...I simply just tell them to Stop!!, if you have nothing good to say, don't say nothing at all...Nothing Wrong With Saying Nothing At All...RIGHT??😊
This is the best country music song I know of. Even better than “You Never Even Called Me By My Name”.
Oh it's 1000 times better than that trumped up drunkard theme
Who else is drunk scrolling through the comments
Probably a little stoneded also.
Hell yeah brother
desparza305 yeepppp
desparza305 hell yeah man!
me...great comment, desparza...: )
In loving memory of Bo Duckworth! I love you brother
mine and my buddy's favorite even though all his songs are great..
I’m somewhere in the middle and that’s just fine.”
Damn cody you and I are one in the same my friend. Keep pumping out these beautiful songs.
"Tending bar at night treating saints and sinners right is a good thing to do all the time" words to live by....
weird this part of the song just came on as I was scrolling
Got out of the Army a few months ago and using the GI for school while I work on a freight dock and it is hard to justify college i feel like i’m learning pointless shit and not getting educated. Worked blue collar since I was 17 got my GED 10th grade and i’m just thankful to be working. Blue collar never fails and $$ doesn’t buy happiness.
Money does buy happiness
If you don’t think it does you bought the wrong car

Left the home at 18, and went railroading. 12 years next week......over 10 years of pulling pins on the night shift. This song hits home
“Leave this world like I CAME in” the truth was never stated so well!
Song has me in tears as I just worked a 12 hour day and I’m sitting in my car drinking a beer before I walk into the house
Headed to his concert right now in Albuquerque New Mexico!!! Hes gonna be awesome.
"Grad school or no school, I've called 'em my friends"
Nothing truer
I hear this and relate on so many levels. Hope I’m not alone out here
My best friend played me all your songs before he died in march of 2021. We both thought they were the way to make it in life and I still live by your words or at least try to one day at a time. They say its progress not perfection. But thank you for your songs please keep them coming you got words of joy peace and wisdom. Dam good man and singer in my book.
I'm just a small town country boy I've lived my whole life somewhere in the middle maybe even last but that's why I defiantly relate
This song means so much for me. I'm 19, just dropped out trying to find a job so I can support my family and start making a living for my future family.
Dont Worry, No Matter What Always Keep Ur Head Up & Never Back Down ✊🔧
Bless the souls this touches. And bless the ones twice as much that it doesnt
I’m baffled as to why 612 people have this a thumbs down? One of the best country songs I’ve heard in some time.
It’s hauntingly melancholy and speaks the truth.
Never really listen to country was forced to and this song came on love it
Scott Lipe sude that's great lmao
It's amazing! Really hits home ya know
Jinks has a way of singing that always moves me ... his words are so real... his voice is sooo damn sexy and no matter where I am in life ... he always puts a smile on my face

Man this song speaks to me on so many levels.

❤️❤️
Blue collar till my last breath because it’s all I ever known and I’m supporting my family on it 💯
Man I feal this brother, like his songs are written bout me as well.
Man I wish more country music was like this instead of what it is nowadays. This gives you the feels
There is some good stuff out there... it just aint on the radio. I find most of this by starting a station on Pandora with the artist I like. Ive found a lot of good artists like that.
"You never know who your talking too but always know who's watching you"
Out of all the country songs I've listen to there is somthing diffrent about cod jinks somthing real. I feel like he's singing about my life and most of our lives. Just a real ass dude
how many moments passed away , everything goes far , can’t turn back nothing , damn…
If your real country and can't relate to this song, your not country.
I saw this guy in Huntsville Alabama and he was awesome!
Cheers to fellow Union Pipeliners and all others who relate to this song so deeply.
HARD TIME IN LIFE. WERE WIT U ALL. MUCH LOVE 😇
I ain't there yet but I'm working on it and it will be Willie, waylon, merle I can't put all there names but they will always be my honky tonk heroes and outlaws and God bless Cody Jinks
Man Cody you hot home with this one made it a year through college and realized I ain't learnin I learned more working the trades keep em coming sir
A secure 20 is all i need. Preferably a hole in the mountains.
Been a jinks fan since day 1 this song has escaped my life for too long until today! #newfav
Sir I can’t get enough of your music, thank you.
Beautifully written. This is something I can relate to and i think a lot of good people can too!
This is my all time favorite song in the whole world!
Love this song. "Ive known alot of good men. Grad school or no school I called em my friend"
I’m listening thinking about all the men in my family! Cheers
Thank you 😊 ❤️❤️
There's alot of "in the middle's" that I find pure comfort & contentment! Man I love my woman! 😉👍
I've worked construction since I was 16 I'm 28 now and that's just fine
I started caring hod at 14 and I am 42. I don’t swing a hammer anymore but I still wear boots and jeans to work. All that hard work in my younger years keeps me grounded.
@@jkk4657 heck ya brother. Hard work is one of the best lessons you can learn.
Hang on to the things tgat last
My favorite Cody Jinks song that I think everyone can relate to....Somewhere in the middle, it’s all right by me

My absolute favorite song by Cody Jinx...I can completely relate to this song
For some unknown reason this music will never be playing on the radio
I can't get enough of this song. Lost track how many times I've listened. This song is what I've been wanting to say to people for years but just didn't know how.
I love some CODY JINKS!!!
Aww God bless you ,I understand your story I relate to your story .prayers to u xoxo
