aw that's sick! and i'm sorry about not being able to see then in london, but at least you're seeing them eventually. i saw them a few months back when they were here in the states andddd it was simply amazing =)
just because people grow up and these things become less important to them, it doesn't mean it's meaningless. the meaning just changes; its become a song that reminds them of a certain time in their lives, and to other (younger) people it might still mean everything that he intended when he wrote it.
you're just jealous cause we're young and in love, your stomachs filled up but you're starved for conversation, spending all your nights growing old in your bed, tearing up your photos cause you wanna forget it's over,.. im gonna be twenty next fall, this song makes me cry like a baby
I've noticed that too, when I saw them summer 06 they played mostly YFW, some Deja and the demo of Degausser, then last march it was five from YFW, ALL of Deja, and five from TDAG(freakin greatest show ever, by the way)then in October and they played 2 or 3 songs from YFW, no soco and no 70x7, some deja and a ton from TDAG. It was of sweet cause it was a different show each time, but it kind of sucks as a fan because I love the older stuff.
It's weird i didn't think I'd ever be able to relate to Brand New, I used to really hate them but I was at a party and they played "Jude Law And A Semester Abroad" and I just thought woh these guys are awesome i can't believe I never heard them before. Thay was around a year ago, now I'm fuckin obsessed with them. This song means alot to me, alot of good drinkin memories come back when I hear this haha.
does he say "this song it about" or "this song goes out to"....well which ever one it is, what does he say after that? i can never make out what he says......anyways, one of the best songs ever by one of the best bands ever
I feel like they really go all out when they're in the U.K. ...not that they weren't amazing last night in Pittsburgh. But I feel like they appreciate their U.K. fans more or something.
@rowaneloise I agree but "EVERYBODY WAKE UP WAKE UP" is pretty hair raising, i think its just the annoying people around the camera. but the crowd as a whole doesn't sound bad.
yeh they are the original lyrics but that song was writen when he was younger and now hes singing as if hes jelous because hes getting older and theres people that currently feel the way he used to,, he explains it at the start of the video
nah, they mostly played stuff from devil and god. they played a few songs from deja but not too many, which was a little upsetting. i'm from massachusetts. and i've never been to warped either hahah even though i really want to
But I can also understand why they would want to play new stuff, cause they've been playing on YFW stuff for what, like 8, 9 years? I can understand how that would get old after a while. wow. that got long.
It annoys me that the crowd can never figure out which part they are supposed to sing. In some shows, Jesse actually tells them beforehand so that they sing the correct parts at the end.
2024 and still listening to this. man im getting old.
❤
8 years ago and I remember it like it was yesterday... best gig of my life
Do you remember making this comment?
fuckin amazing, i get shivers anytime i hear this song performed live
6 years later i'm still in awe of how it good it was to be there watching this, my hero for taking the time to video this!
This has got to be the best live video of this song ever.
Youre so lucky
i was there right in front of jesse for this..one of the best experiences ever it was epic :)

Amazing version. i need to see this band live
One of the greatest gigs of my life. Jesse Lacey is a genius IMO =].
aw that's sick! and i'm sorry about not being able to see then in london, but at least you're seeing them eventually. i saw them a few months back when they were here in the states andddd it was simply amazing =)
I was there! I first saw them in 2002/2003 at Sheffield leadmill supporting Finch then here.
This is such an amazing video. Thank you so much for posting it, being able to hear the intro again makes me not even notice the girl.

Omg - I am so in love with this song !! I love this live version !
Love the end he added to this! Nowadays, it's a complete rarity to ever see them play this live.
Best video of him playing this ever.
best video of brand new and/or jesse lacey live.. at least besides the jesse lacey/kevin devine vids
just because people grow up and these things become less important to them, it doesn't mean it's meaningless. the meaning just changes; its become a song that reminds them of a certain time in their lives, and to other (younger) people it might still mean everything that he intended when he wrote it.
awsome video, i was somewhere at the front then, brings back memories.
I was there, it was a very self indulgent gig, but this one song alone made it.
that was positively beautiful.
Shivers every time.
you're just jealous cause we're young and in love, your stomachs filled up but you're starved for conversation, spending all your nights growing old in your bed, tearing up your photos cause you wanna forget it's over,.. im gonna be twenty next fall, this song makes me cry like a baby
This is the greatest performance on youtube.
I can't believe I've never heard of this song til yesterday!
thats so incredibly good looking, the way he describes it, hes all class. i love you jesse.
One of the few times that a Brand New crowd actually adds to the song instead of ruining it.
awesome gig.
wow.
this video is amazing.
i freaked when they played this at Portland.
Every time I watch this, I cry.
genius! I love this man as if he were my own.
ahhh flogging molly one of my faves! and rise against, lucky you!
hearing everyone singing along gets me pumped
oh that's cool. i was thinking of getting "stay like this forever" somewhere but i don't know hahah
fantastic
He is singing to the crowd in saying that he's jealous of their youth but in a kind and amazing way
i got chills at 1:44
wow. this gives me goosebumps. incredible.
god. chills at the ending.
I was there when this was film. Memories :D
best performance of this song ever.
heh, funny you should say that.
last night's entire show was your favorite weapon, and i shat myself when they played this.
:-)
I've noticed that too, when I saw them summer 06 they played mostly YFW, some Deja and the demo of Degausser, then last march it was five from YFW, ALL of Deja, and five from TDAG(freakin greatest show ever, by the way)then in October and they played 2 or 3 songs from YFW, no soco and no 70x7, some deja and a ton from TDAG. Good f*cking works
THIS SONG MAKES CRY
:''']
his last improvised lyrics just broke my heart :(
"Im just jealous cause youre young and in love" , wow im like that now too looking back...
does he say "this song it about" or "this song goes out to"....well which ever one it is, what does he say after that? i can never make out what he says......anyways, one of the best songs ever by one of the best bands ever
This song is about a parkway overpass 6 football fields from my house I feel so special haha.
he does this great here
lucky london
I love how Jesse just lays his guitar down and bows then walks off stage
I feel like they really go all out when they're in the U.K.
...not that they weren't amazing last night in Pittsburgh. But I feel like they appreciate their U.K. fans more or something.
"I'm just jealous cause you're young and in love"
that was fucking amazing
The 4 people that dislike this, fail at life.
im not even 18 yet, but i already miss being 18 when i listen to this song
2019 yo!
Was this show sold out?
fucking amazing
the end of this blew my fucking mind
youre thinking of 70x7
haha that person humming and then saying, what's that song called?
i'm just jelous cuz you're young and in love...and that you got to go to this concert
@rowaneloise I agree but "EVERYBODY WAKE UP WAKE UP" is pretty hair raising, i think its just the annoying people around the camera. but the crowd as a whole doesn't sound bad.

what lyrics do you have tattooed?
gave me tingles then as it dose no
Wicked!
It's a gig you should expect people ot be loud.
It is rock you know.
But I can also understand why they would want to play new stuff, cause they've been playing on YFW stuff for what, like 8, 9 years? I can understand how that would get old after a while. wow. that got long.
at the end when the crowd goes nuts when hes saying im just jealous cuz we're young in love sooo amazing
They blew the roof off the place didn't they?
better than the original
It annoys me that the crowd can never figure out which part they are supposed to sing. In some shows, Jesse actually tells them beforehand so that they sing the correct parts at the end.
ifuckinglovethis
