You’re the man! I have five boys at home. Needless to say, I sometimes have to watch on mute. And EVERY single thing that I hope you would pick up - you did!
I grew up a town over in Holland. I used to work the flea market in my teens setting up tents and unloading trucks. I worked as a carpenter in my 20s for my father and we built the building in the distance at the end of the video. I'm hundreds of miles away now and haven't seen that area in 20 years.
I'll have to watch that back. I didn't realize it was a spider. If I had seen a spider jumping at me in person, I would have freaked out too. Good thing I didn't notice it.
That World's Fair plate was cool! I'd definitely would have bought it if I'd come across that. I have a World's Fair Tour book still I've held onto since my childhood.
@@fleabittenadventures Cool, that'll he fun! I'm older than you, and went to the 64 World's Fair twice, as a child. I still have a few of my little souvenirs from there...including one of those little "gum-ball machine type rings" that flash back and forth two images. :)
Love your flea market videos Tom! Thank you for showing the Halloween stuff and Jadeite dishes. Those are my favorites! I’m always amazed by the Geiger counter readings! Several of my Jadeite pieces glow under UV light so I wonder what the Geiger counter would show.
The Fire King marked jadeite pieces don’t glow but the Jeanette Glass and the McKee pieces glow. They usually aren’t marked. Maybe test them with your UV light first to see if they glow, then test them with the Geiger counter.
I also wanted to comment that I've never been to Brimfield when the road traffic was so light. Every time I've been there it has been bumper-to-bumper traffic on Route 20 from sunrise to sunset.
It seems to get busier towards the end of the day, especially on weekends. July is also the least busy Brimfield show because a lot of people don't go due to the heat.
what's your "day strategy"? do you go like the first day to see everything or do you go later to get better deals? i just found out in July that parking is free on the last day.....been going for years and never knew...lol
I usually go Thurs, Friday and or Saturday. A lot of fields and vendors don't open on the first day or two. I've never gone on a Sunday. Didn't know they had free parking. Thanks for the info!
I Googled radioactive fiesta-ware...and wonder why you like it and do you use it with food? Seemed like it could be a health issue. Not judging you, just curious, as it's something I never knew about until your channel. Another fun walk through Brimfield with you, tks. I'm hoping to get to the Sept. one.
I do not eat off it, that would possibly not be safe. However, it's safe to handle. I find it fascinating. It's hard to say why exactly, but I'm not alone. A lot of people collect radioactive Fiesta Ware.
I have my own small collection of button pins...I saw the same "Smoking Stinks" one I have just as you cut away...that white one with flowery writing in the last pass through you made, lol. I don't have any of old businesses as you said. I do have a Woodstock one, not that I went...an older cousin, who also didn't go to Woodstock, gave it to me. I've looked them up on Ebay...not worth anything.
I can imagine. Someone's going to have to deal with my stuff when I'm gone. On the other hand, it may be worth a lot of money by then and they do pretty well selling it.
I've done Brimfield several times over the past 40 years. I find it amazing what people are selling and buying, ie what I would consider 'junk'. One time I started out a 8 AM and didn't find anything I was interested in until 4 PM then all of sudden it seemed every vendor had something I wanted for a great price. From time to time you will find a vendor that has something truly valuable going for pennies on the dollar. For example a vendor had an umbrella basket of Knights of Columbus swords and other ceremonial type swords. Mixed in with those swords was an authentic rare American Revolutionary War horseman's saber with a price of $40. It was worth about $7,000. Conversely, an inaccurate 1970's reproduction of a British Revolutionary War military pewter button that is currently available for 75 cents was marked for sale at $400 which is a reasonable price for an authentic button of that era. The vendor apparently couldn't tell the difference between authentic and reproduction. The stuff is out there, you just need to be knowledgeable about what you are looking at.
I've also gone to flea markets and found almost nothing, and then the next time I go, I fill up the trunk of my car. You never know what you're going to find, which is what I like most about flea markets. Hunting for treasures!
@@fleabittenadventures I've found the July shows to be either brutally hot or a steady rain. I'm an hour away from Brimfield so I might visit the Sept show on Friday or Saturday.
If only "flea market" had the same meaning these days as it did 30 years ago where you could go in and find something that was priced MUCH lower than it was worth... thx to the internet, I'm pretty sure you aren't finding any rare items for cheap at these places any longer..
I’m always on the hunt for vintage political posters. Are you noticing any of those? I realize they’re not your area of interest. Great videos. Thanks!
And people use to eat off those plates? WTF? The companies trying to kill their customers? Or was the government getting rid of radioactive waste this way?
Tom , I have to reply how much I like the way you make us feel like we are there with you . Now one of my favorite channels .
Thank you! I appreciate it!

I agree that yard art looked very cool. Thanks Tom. Great video as always.
Thanks! Glad you liked it!

Tom , @24:05 I saw a 1977 Burger Chef Fangburger glass to go with your 1977 Burger Chef Burgerilla glass .
I missed it! I'll have to look for it again at the September show.
I had a bunch of Fiesta. I gave it away except for the green ones lol. Most of them were older ones too. Not the newer stamped stuffed.
It happens. I've done the same. Luckily if you want to buy it back, it's not too expensive.
04:49 you upset a spider in his skee ball home! 😅
Ew, I know...freaked me out. Hate spiders, and that was one of those fast, black ones....ugggh!
I saw that on the playback. I didn't see it at the time. Are you sure it was a spider though? It looked like fly or moth to me, but I'm not sure.

I thought so too. I'm fascinated by the 64 Worlds Fair! I'm going to try to do a video at the site of the fair sometime this year!

Thanks! I did tell her and she thought your comment was great!

Ever thought about a video for Mongers Market in Bridgeport.
I'm really not too familiar with it. Is it an indoor flea market / antique mall? What do they have there?
I would like a glass set of smurfs!
The Smurf glasses are some of my favorites.
I will like to be a vendor at a swap meet but I can’t do it by myself!
I might do it for a day, but I could never stay the full week. I would go mad.
Pass out gate sign was cool! For the backyard gate for parties! When you’re to gdruk you point to the sign when you’re friend gets to drunk!
Sure was.

Guess the same way some silverware before 70 'may contain lead decoration only.
I LOVE that ALF banner but didn't really care for that deal😊
I agree. The price was not right.

I would guess that most of the pins aren't worth a lot of money. I just think they're fun to collect because they are usually very affordable.
@@fleabittenadventures Agreed, I loved collecting ones I liked, especially in the 80's, 90's, I used to wear them then. Now, they're just fun to have.
See this is what people collect over the years and then someone has to deal with getting rid of the stuff! It’s a nightmare!

I do find that some of the very small flea markets still occasionally have really good deals. It's hit or miss.
Im a vender in the Cleveland area and its cheap-ass' like you who argue for 5 minutes over a $1 item.
Have you see nfl football stuff I like colts
I’m always on the hunt for vintage political posters. Are you noticing any of those? I realize they’re not your area of interest. Great videos. Thanks!
I think I've seen them once or twice, but they are definitely not common at the flea markets I go to. Glad you like the videos! Thanks
And people use to eat off those plates? WTF? The companies trying to kill their customers? Or was the government getting rid of radioactive waste this way?
Yes, they did used to eat off it. They were sold mostly in the 30's and 40's before the danger of radiation was fully understood.
re: NCC-1701-E: Modifying a collectible destroys the value of it.
It will be a sad day when all this stuiff will be thrown in garbage because modern generations wont care about it.
Yes, that will be sad, but you never know, some young kids seem to be getting into collecting too.
Tons of dust collecting junk. No thank you
Fair enough, but that's why they are called flea markets.
