Thanks a lot... I have a question, Is there specific rules that I can flow when it comes the pronunciation of G...if the answer is NO. do I need to memorize since there is no a common rule that we can flow?
The letter G is a bit tricky. Sometimes, when one is not sure of it's pronunciation in a word, one might just need to check it out before using it. Nevertheless, the following might be of help to you. When the letter G is followed by A, O or U, it's pronounced as /g/ as in GOOD, GUT, GAS, etc. When it is followed by E, I, or Y, it's pronounced as /dʒ/ as in GENTLE, GIST, GYM, etc. However, there are exceptions to this rule. The Letter G in the word GIRL is followed by the letter I, but the pronunciation is /g/ and not /dʒ/. Other ones are TIGER, TOGETHER, GYNECOLOGIST, etc. Hope this helps 🙏.
