Everyone needs to hear this now more than ever.
Amazing....Herman nailed it...
Herman you are so correct 💯 PERCENT CORRECT.
The problem is, the people that _need_ to hear don't WANT to hear it.
People who aren't happy with the way they look end up damaging themselves worse to try to look better. Like people who want to be thinner start starving themselves and develop eating disorders like anorexia. Or they exercise too much and put great strains on their bodies. Some want their faces to look different and undergo plastic surgeries that many times go wrong.
And in Eddie's case, some people want to be taller so they drink potions to make them grow but instead grow beards! XD
Specially karens
For a 60s sitcom with a bunch of friendly monsters, this show had some good social points. Kudos to everyone involved with this show.
Kind of like Star Trek.
Bewitched also was extremely progressive even having Derrin's boss knock a mf cold because he was being racist. I'm just glad the internet is archiving this because it shows we definitely have been getting better regardless of what shouty pricks in timbs scream.
If only everyone thought that way what a better world it would be.
Occasionally TV can teach you something, but for the most part take Groucho Marx's advice and pick up a book when the TV gets turned on.
White girl here. Shut up.
👍❤💙💚💛💜🖤
Well I am colorblind... I only see one race. The human race! 😊🤗
It would be much better
A lesson that every child should know.
More like a lesson that everyone should know.
Caleb, Empty platitudes don't help a child. They give him/her the idea that the complexities of the world can be solved by some generalized statement. Then, when they come face to face with a complex situation as an adult, they don't have the skills to resolve the conflict.
This is an entertainment show...don't look too deep into it.
A lesson that everybody should know...
@@ronschaffer5959 I don't think it's a bad line it's actually a line which every parent says to his chil but the children don't engrave it deep in their heart.
@@ronschaffer5959 Ron, don’t condescend.
For a fictitious character, he had more charm in his pinky finger, than most people in today's world. Some of the most "respected people" in this doesn't even come close to Herman Munster.
Well spoken
Thank you
Ever since as a kid I first heard this quote from the show it inspired me. Now as a 32 year old, seeing how cruel the world and everyone hates your guts for no reason. Still this quote always stick with me and made me a better person, so this show I respect so much and will always love it.
"The lesson I want you to learn: Is it doesn't matter what you look like. You can be tall or short, or fat or thin, or ugly or handsome, like you father. Or you can be black or yellow or white- it doesn't matter. What does matter is the size of your heart, and the strength of your character."
Truly wise words from a great being like Herman Munster
Deep wise words than have more worth than diamonds.
REST IN PEACE FRED GWYNNE (1926-1993) MY BEST FRIEND.
Juan Carlos moreno he died the year I was born
@Christopher because I thought that was interesting and why do care so much
@@cezearr34 or? He was being rude and overly opinionated and your not helping. The reason people act like this is because no one around them has the courage to tell them its wrong and will not be tolerated.
Peace & Love, Munsters!
I will always love & respect Fred Gwynne for this.
Did you know Fred
They don't make family shows anymore like this, sad.
Aww... Ikr, but it's oki
Well they have movies with lessons like that
yeah, they rather put an lgbtq love message than this
@@masagusfadhli6672 From what you just said, obviously what Herman said went over your head.
Just started watching this awesome family series.
Rest in Peace Fred Gwyne!! 😢
Herman had the heart of a child and the character of a good man and father, all in one. That show taught family values so well.
That's so true. Well said Herman ..
He wasn't saying all that when Gramps's experiment made him look more human.
@@paulod27 You mean the one where Herman's family continue to support him despite his changes? Look-the Munsters aren't perfect but then the entire point of the comedy of them seeing humans as looking weird is that despite this they don't hate people. They don't ostracize their daughter. They may think humans weird but they come to accept them. It's just in Herman's case he looked so different from who he was he didn't feel right. That's called dysphoria and can be traumatizing to cope with. He identifies as a monster and so that's how he should look.
Man, these are true words spoken by Herman Munster. It should not matter about people who are short or tall, or fat or skinny, ugly and beautiful, and handsome or cute or pretty, and most of all, it should not matter what color they are. Black, white, green, yellow, purple, or blue. It should matter about people who wanna be treated just like they wanna be treated. Be treated equally.
Spoken like a true gentleman with modesty and diplomacy of character 🙂
I always come back to this from time to time
How times have changed, Herman. The world will judge you from the outside before judging you on the inside.
This show took place in the 60s my man lol. This show was technically around when there was still segregated water fountains
Herman had the heart of a wise philosopher, probably literally.
IF you thought the 60's were a time of acceptance, than I suggest you either read a book or remove your nostalgia glasses.
That's always been the case because there will always be people like that in society
@@chasechandler7757 I believe that is why this video even exists; during that time, there were 100% people who thought segregation was disgraceful. Racism is very real, make no mistake. However, so are genuinely good people. Unfortunately, those good people are never in any power to make the decisions that dictate our society’s views and opinions.
Amazing how I’m seeing this clip now especially with everything that’s happening to society. Wowwww this scene is beautiful and powerful.
The colorization was PERFECT. I would be thrilled to see a complete episode colorized.
there are 2 color movies with most of the original cast and the pilot was in color and the episode 'Family Portrait' is made in color as well.
Rob Zombie would like to talk to you
I bet that’s was amazing what happen for people grew up that time
I was just about to comment that I wish the whole series was colored
Heaven sent, beautiful.
Words of Wisdom. Lesson I value, respect, and abide by daily until my life on earth is over. One's kind heart matters the most to me.💗
Fred Gwynne with wonderful and timely comments.
Love this man, how true we really need this today. RIP Fred
this is so old and yet it relates to what’s happening now, that’s so amazing
This is such a perfect speech and a perfect lesson to say to your kids, such a beautiful speech that truly transcends time.
This is what everyone needs to hear today.
We need more positive tv shows / cartoons to show this word what love is.... because this new generation is just filled with a bunch of hate.
Thos scene always makes my heart melt
Well said Herman Munster everyone in today’s world needs to hear your words
Munster for President 2020. Making America great again.
Always love when a show like this has a brief heart-felt, serious moment... The Addams Family had one too, when the Addamses convince the beatniks father to accept him as he is
Everyone in the world needs to hear this
Herman's lesson is still as relevant as ever! 😢
I love the munsters and I always will let this message be the best
This show should be on today. He taught some great lessons
Bro I'm in a taxi right now watching this crying. I broke at the moment he said "but by the size of your heart, and the strength of your character."
The truth, if only people would wake to to that advice
We need this message of truth more than ever!
Well said Mr Munster it's not the outside that matters but it's what the inside that does matter. RIP Fred Gynne aka Mr Hermann Munster along with Lily Munster and Grandpa Munster. On the Munsters was never a dull moment, I love all of the episodes. Even though they dressed up in these hideous creatures with green body that was an awesome American TV show back then? They were still law biding American citizens with the same thing that every Americans go through? I see them as Americans who dressed up in these customs. I was born in December 1966 when the Munsters ended in the old black/white show but it was in color in 1966 as Munsters Go Home.
One of my all time favorite shows as a kid and I still watch it to this day!
The UA-cam community could learn a thing or two from this.
So could Facebook

what great words by Herman Munster
Simple words but important to live by
This one clip ALONE should be mandatory viewing in schools. Screw the book learning. Teach the kids to not be prejudice!
Yoooo, my boy Frankenstein out here speakin' the truth!
Preach it, Herman.
I just saw this clip on Facebook last night. And i keep rewatching this, cause I love the tone of his voice. ❤ have a good heart, everybody
Jeez, so many people need to hear this in this day and age.
The entire point of the series.
Grandpa: Herman you have a bolt loose.
Herman: Now Grandpa. There's no reason to start insulting people.
Grandpa: No Herman ... you have a bolt loose ( as Grandpa reaches up to one of Herman's neck bolt with a wrench )
That was funny dude.
Truthful , simple, yet, powerful words to live by... Today We live in a society that looks is everything and having a upper status quo is the only way in life to live. It's all about 'Me' not the other. Though there is thoughtful and compassionate souls out there, they are surrounded by trollers and heartless individuals who rather die than give up that bus seat to someone more deserving. We have fallen astray of what is just and right, common courtesy and common sense, forgiveness and mercy are not really important anymore. Division and hatred is what collapsing civilization as we known it to once be. If there is to be any Justice and Hope to be in the world today, this one simple message is what needs to be known and heard.
The Munsters would've been wonderful if they had continued for a third season in color! This is beautiful!
Well said, Mr. Munster!Very true!
Bravo. Great work!
Amazing. We need this kind of thinking now.
well said herman
I'd love to see this whole episode in color. It's one of my favorites.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤God. Bless U Fred RIP 1926-1993
I just LOVE the look Herman's wife gives him. Pure adoration :)
🙂 yes 🥺
I loved this show
This is almost exactly what Dr. King said in his "I Have A Dream" speech, just a little before this: "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character." Quoting those sentiments in such a "mainstream" show was a very, very bold choice.
I wonder if Dr. King ever watched this show, and if he ever got to see this....
Its funny because in recent years after seeing the Munsters on tv again,
this scene stands out with me.
I never seen it in color before.
Great speech 🙏
Oh God I love it.
My favorite show. What genius to create this show in the 60’s.
Love this monologue so much. I wasn’t around when these type of shows were on air, but every now and then I come across the wisdom that they possessed. I make sure to come back to this every time I’m feeling down, just to remind myself of what’s really important.
I loved this show as a child, when it was new. It is still good, funny, and should have been on at least 5 seasons when newly made. It was hilarious when Herman and Grandpa bickered.Herman and Lily always thought people were scared of Marilyn's looks. I always wondered why Marilyn looked normal...were her parents normal? Marilyn's mother was a sister to Lily.Full eps of this used to be on you tube some years ago. I think it's on Antenna TV or MeTV...one of those two channels.
Great job on the color!
I wonder if the show would have looked that good had it been filmed in color, I doubt it
In so many ways.
thats such a true statement and never has it been more truer than at the moment.
Yup, I’ve learned that the only thing that matters is the size of your heart.
The Munsters in color - best gift to the world ever. :)
What Herman Munster told Eddie was the best thing I heard in my life. I will pass that message on to my students as well.
I agree with herman munster's, it doesn't matter weather your tall or short, fat or thin, ugly or handsome like your father or black, red or yellow. What matters is the size of your heart.
that coming from the 60s is powerful
TV was so wholesome and genuine back then.
Dr. King would applaud you. Well said Mr. Munster.
Herman Munster uttered this key phrase about 4 years before Dr. King’s famous speech about not judging people based on the color of their skin, but by the content of their character. MLK loved Herman Munster too!
The final twist is so nice size of your heart and strength of your character its so nice and its changes my character
A few days ago Beverly Owen (the first Marylin) died.R.I.P. Only Butch Patrick and Pat Priest are alive
Amen and right on!!!
I think The core moral message of this film is to love yourself no matter what people say and not give up even though have flaws😂😂
I wish I knew these words of wisdom when my son was a child and being bullied in school cause I would have said those same words. I wish I had loving parents like the munsters.
R.I.Paradise Fred Gwynne!
When monsters are more human than humans
Great to have that on TV back in those days. Help change America to a better country. Though we are the Greatest Nation we still need a lot of work. God bless America. I love my country. This great US of A.
Every child should hear these words, because they will have a great impact on his human development💯❤️
I love the fact that a sitcom like "The Munsters" had the guts to say this in the mid 1960, ahead of "serious" dramas.
Nostalgia ❤️
Scene is old but words are gold
Very well said 👏
Good words.
Herman Munster really was ahead of his time.
Damn that is still relevant.
Such a beautiful soul godbless herman munster.
HERMAN WAS ONE HELL OF A FATHER!!!
We need more Herman Munster and Mr Rogers....a crossover episode or two, would’ve been amazing!
Loved this program when I was a kid....
I loved this show. 💞
Powerful.
Such heart warming true words!
