Amazing and astounding cover of such a wonderful classic... I'm so impressed and happy that I found your video after so many years... Thank you Michael...
mindblowing!you showed the emotion of the song perfectly, but adding your amazing touch that makes it feel yours, you owned this!JLP would gladly shake your hand👏🏻
Michael this is the best version of Mirage I have ever heard! You took the cake brother. I rediscovered this old favorite but you have taken it to a completely different level of awesomeness. I love you deep passion and enjoyment on the video. Don’t ever let it go no matter what. You change lives…. please keep at it!
Just like anything in life. BUT - ain't it cool to have a video that endless amounts of people (theoretically) could enjoy now? So - yeah. I think it was worth it! Thanks!
Michael, your solos on Mirage make me want to worship the Great GOD of creation. What beatiful note selection. Gets to the core of soul and spirit! Thank you!
Hey Michael, I just discovered you a couple of days ago, I have been a fan of Jean Luc Ponty for many years, what a beautiful version of Mirage. All the ones I have heard are incredible. Keep it up and may The Mighty GOD in CHRIST bless you and yours.
really nice to hear such a vibrant, expressive virtuosic take on the great old jlp classic. man do i miss new york! thanks michael for reminding me that ny is the place where brilliant adventure pops out from every corner!! really hope to catch you live one day (i'm an aussie & too far away...)... that would be something to savour...
It would be so cool, and rare, but cool, to see some Paco de Lucia's Zyryab with this stuff, I pay to see it really! Very good job Michael, amazing playing just like JLP.
I would like to see and listen for a duet with JL Ponty. It would be incredible . Anyway Michael is a phenomenon and anyone who has had the good fortune to listen to him on NY subway is a pardoned god
Como pode um excelente artista fenômeno estar tocando apenas em um local desse, é um pecado enorme não dar o valor que esse cara merece. Mas esqueci, hoje o mundo é dominado por boçais que só dão valor a músicos e musicas boçais.
IT'S LIKE LAYING ON THE SIDEWALK SUFFERING FROM A HEART ATTACK WITH THE PARAMEDICS WORKING ON YOU IN THE MIDDLE OF BUSTLING NEW YORK CITY, FOOT AND VEHICLE TRAFFIC WILL CONTINUE TO PASS YOU BY, WHO CARES, LIFE GOES ON..........................................."GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE ON YOUR SIDE, GOD BLESS"...
TODAY EASTER SUNDAY 2021 I PUSHED EVERY THING I HAVE AND EVEN BORROWED MORE TO MY WINDOW AND PLAYED THIS ONE SONG BY THIS MAN AT SUNSET TO MY IMMEDIATE NEIGHBORS AND THE NEIGHBORS ACROSS THE LAKE WHERE I LIVE WHICH IS A HILLSIDE NEIGHBOR HOOD ABOUT A 1/2 MILE WIDE AND 5 RESIDENTIAL STREET/BLOCKS HIGH, I CAN HEAR THEM TALKING the wind probably helps that SO I'M PRETTY SURE THEY HEARD ME JAMMING...
O my! Thank you JESUS, Wow! Seriously maybe the best thing I have ever seen, incredible he might be the best string player on the planet. I thanked GOD and wept! Thank you Michael Shulman.
Hi Michael, congrats for your talent, specially for the music choice! I know you musicians love to explore diff paths for the same scale, as much as we listeners want sometimes to listen the original track. I see you are good and that you enjoy a lot the music i currently like most. Try to develop a melodic line to get closer to the cosmic sound that Ponty first recorded. Even Jean Luc seems to be tired of Mirage as it used to be, he is no longer playing it the same way he did in the early 80s, why?!
Thanks for posting! I think that the music should never be played 100% the same way all the time. Like an old saying "you can't step into the same river twice". I have no idea why JLP is playing it differently than what he had originally written. I have composed my own melodies for and prefer to improvise in the "Mirage" because most of all I liked the nostalgic harmony, groove and the overall atmosphere of the song. The original violin playing is very nice, but not in my preferred playing style.
Absolutely amazing!! I love how u made the song yours. I’m also a violinist and I’m working on this piece, where did u get the backing track? :) or did u made it? I’m looking forward to play it live 🔥
I'VE SEEN THIS SONG PLAYED BY JLP PROBABLY 20 TIMES OUT OF 23 CONCERTS OVER THE YEARS BOTH CLOSE UP AND FAR AWAY, CERTAINLY A WONDERFUL SONG, MR. SHULMAN DOES TAKE IT TO A NEXT EVEN MORE EXCITING LEVEL AND MAKES IT KINDA BORING TO GO BACK AND SEE/LISTEN TO JLP'S VERSIONS. NEXT STEP FROM HERE SHOULD BE A 300 PERSON ORCHESTRA VERSION, SO THEN I CAN FINALLY REST IN PEACE, "GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE" GOD BLESS...
Here is a great violinist and people are walking by like, "Who cares." That's why music in the U.S. sucks because great talent is playing in the subway of NYC and not on the radio.

Too bad he dubbed it later. 🙄 That audio is not live. But A+ on the material.
You could Teach CELLOS how to improvise. Not just play note by note. Awesome tribute to Mr Ponty
it doesn't matter how many times I listen to this, it's still the best for me. Thank you.
Glad to know!! :)
All these years later since I first heard this and still go "WOW". G x

It's almost painful to watch these videos. Here is one of the great musical geniuses of our time and people walk by him oblivious of that fact.

Outstanding!!! But isnt smtg missing?
Thank you! Of course something's missing. It's not an exact copy of original. Just a loop of one single part.

@@ShredViolin 👋😷
this mirage is a mirage
Could be...
Lol, am I the only guy here that wonders if this guy gives violin lessons?
I hardly ever did.
we learn as he plays
This appears contrived and if it is it is just that more of a mirage. Passionate in a subway of numb. The walking of the dead in the midst of music?
Perhaps all that is around - a mirage.
@@ShredViolin More than likely it is.
Satriani meets Ponty.
