FACT - Robinhood CEO had a liquidity problem, he gave up a percentage of the company to his masters (VC's, Citadel, aka the institutional investors) so he could raise the money. RH stopped trading so they didn't have to raise even more money and give up more of the company. He made a decision to benefit himself, Robinhood, and THEIR owners at the expense of their users..
Robinhood users are NOT the customer, they are the product being sold to the real customers- Citadel, hedge funds, the "institution"
Even when the manipulation is obvious, just like the corruption of government, the levers of power still hold. A game without enforced rules is ...
the rules say stay civil and don't fight but 'business' is ok.
We, People, most likely have to do something that will feel wrong because of our conditioned and socially accepted values/perceptions. The problem rarely realizes its own solution it must acted upon from an outside force.

If theres any legislation to come of this it should only regard the ability to short more shares than actually exist in a stock. Unfortunately, I see politicians calling for censoring online messaging boards while promoting a transaction tax on both sides of a trade....both of which actually undermine retail investors.
All that aside, retail trading is indeed here to stay, and the market will speak in terms of blockchain technology facilitating instant settlement.

The real problem is people are putting capital into stocks but not becoming the owner of the stock! The broker remains the owner so they can rent your asset out to shorts who sell your asset to trick you into selling it at a lower price. They are renting and selling assets they do not own! The retail investor needs to be allowed to own their own assets in their own name!

Basically all these brokers are SP bookmakers.
If a bookmaker has to close his books on a certain outcome,
Then they have to close, to both sides of betting.
If you want to bookmaker you need to be covered sufficiently to recieve a licence to run your business.
If you can't cover your bets, you can't run your book and loose your licence.
A bookmaker can not interfere with the outcome of an event.
As far as we all should be concerned......
All brokers and liquidity providers who choked the 13 stocks effected should have their licences revolked.
The only entity that should be able to restrict trading on a stock is the exchange.

The next hearing needs to have Dave Portnoy, Charles Payne, Chamath Palihapitiya, Kevin O'Leary, and Mark Cuban asking the questions. Very few of the representatives that participated are traders. They didn't ask the right questions. They didn't focus on naked shorting which is the reason all this has happened in the first place.

As someone who's naive to trading my biggest concern is that what gamestop provides is an out of date product, therefore the rise in stock "the faith in the buisness" is solely due to speculation, unfounded speculation at that. I'm happy for whoever made money while "sticking it to the man" but because of the companies outdatedness I just don't understand why anyone would want to hold?
People think GameStop has the capacity to rebrand itself. Start letting people buy games digitally from them to make profits from downloads like the deal they have with Microsoft/Xbox. Physical media will never die. You don’t see Walmart or target getting rid of their physical game section. So it’s not the physical games that’s the problem.
