    It’s amazing to see how much this channel has grown. James is truly an amazing person. I sat in New Foundland for a month watching videos of the Kamado Joe and James is the reason I decided to buy one. When I got back home to Texas, it was delivered the next day. I wrote to James several times to ask questions and share my experiences. The KJ is by far the most superior BBQ tool I’ve ever used. I will be getting your book and wish you the best James. Keep up the great work. PS…I want the new Kamado Konnected Joe!!!!!!! Trying to justify the purchase to my wife. I’m almost there!!! Lol. 👍🏼👍🏼

    Based on your recommendations I am already the proud owner of a smokeware pan, a grillblazer, thermapen, IR thermometer, Meater block and a Big Joe, I agree with all of these recommendations… just hope the KickAsh pan comes off ‘waiting list’ soon. Thank you SDBBQ for all your sense and advice over years - thank you for sharing.

    Excellent lineup, James!! I especially appreciate the deep-ish dive on the dalstrong knives, (specifically the bread knife for cutting brisket) which I am about to pull the trigger on. You and Al have made me a better Que'r! Thanks!

    Great video, James! Just spent a ton with Dalstrong's sale. I will put a shout out to HEXMILL pepper grinder. Same aluminum construction and speed of loading/milling. Same superfine and coarse as cannon but only 10 levels in between instead of 20 (seems overkill). MOST IMPORTANTLY, nearly half the cost AND they now have a SALT VERSION with ceramic internals to resist corrosion! Get both for the cost of one pepper cannon!!!🎉❤

      Hexmill doesn't come close to the grind range of the pepper cannon.

    • @richardpowell8065
      @richardpowell8065 9 місяців тому

      It hits super fine for sauces and soups and super coarse for big chunks of meat. Everything in between satisfies individual tastes and for $110 vs $200...Plus, watch mannkitchen come out with a salt version (maybe even drop a fewbucks).

    • @mannkitchen
      @mannkitchen 9 місяців тому

      @@richardpowell8065 The Salt Cannon has been out since 2022. The hexmill finest setting is in the same range as traditional mills, while the pepper cannon can grind sub 60 mesh. On the coarse side it's closer, but the pepper cannon wins there too. The hexmill certainly outperforms ordinary mills and is a good choice for those that want to upgrade without upgrading all the way to the pepper cannon.

    Hi James, I’m considering the ‘Meater’ wireless products for my husband for Christmas, but I’m not sure which to get. He LOVES his BIG JOE 3! If price was not an issue, and it isn’t for this…which of the Meater products would you choose? Specifically, would you recommend the Meater 2 Plus, or the Meater Block> Thank you for any suggestions.

    I thought spending $200 on a pepper grinder was insane. But there is something about Smoking Dad BBQ that seems to always succeed with separating my money from my wallet. I have to admit it is a fantastic grinder. I haven't used it in full cannon mode, but even for daily use it is so much better. More consistent grind, less turning, and it just feels good in the hand.
    While I'm giving a thumbs up, a HUGE thumbs up to the Kick Ash can. It works really for one-step ash removal. What I'm really eager to try (I just got mine) is inserting wood splits to keep real wood smoke going through my BJ during long cooks.
    (Nitpick for James: rewatch this and see how many times you say "something like" when you really mean the item itself, not something like it. So as not to offend, I'll head on over to your new website and subscribe to your newsletter)

      I could not bring myself to spend $200 on a pepper grinder either. A great alternative are electric pepper grinders which are plentiful on Amazon & an order of magnitude cheaper (even with an accompanying electric salt grinder, too). My wife made fun of me for buying them, but now she loves them! 🤣

    $200 for a burr grinder? Why not a Hario burr coffee grinder for a fraction of the cost? I have one that I intended to use for coffee when I traveled, but now I grind spices with it instead. I'm a home coffee roaster, so I'm a bit picky when it comes to coffee.

    Why does the audio sound like it's a recording from a voicemail or a phone's microphone? Clearly there's a wireless mic used, but some settings are misconfigured somewhere. Maybe a filter added to remove background noise in post, I dk but it sounds like a video conference call to my ears...🤷‍♂

      I said it either makes no sense or complete sense on how you use it. For me not buying $25-$29 pre made rubs is a money saving tool. If you have a normal mill, an electric mill or even a coffee grinder you can make everything I am making.
      In the grill gun race video I showed using my wife’s hair dryer and a fire starter cube is just as fast as the $200 priced item
