Another problem might be that the speed mode might have been changed from sports/ normal into ECO mode. Impeller or a worn wear ring may cause cavitation and top end speed. Be certain if this is the cause to replace this .
I’m not 100% sold on the ride plate issue I know people who have the supposed slow plate but still hit advertise top speeds with aftermarket kits you have to check the trim tabs also with the speeds we hit if they are putting the bow down any it will kill speed
I wasn't either, which is why I took my ski to Calas to look over everything. At the end of the day the ride plate was the last thing we could mess with. Granted, my ride plate was the "bad" ride plate but it also had the little dip in it.
@@RM.Adventures_ I haven’t seen one with the dip in it yet like yours but I know people who according to riva have the slow plate but still hit the numbers they are supposed to hit I believe it’s multiple issues causing the slow speeds
@@matthewkinsey6587 yeah, calas showed in the beginning of the video that both of his ski's have the slow ride plate.. yet he's won drag races with them.. LOL
I currently have a mate with a dead slow apex. His previous 2021 rxp300 was way faster. We tested for boost leaks, ride plate and all is fine. We did find that the ibr gate sits waaaay down though. No setting helped so we are looking into trimming it.
Yup! I have an appointment set with BRP to re-flash the software. There's also talk on the Green Hulk forum about trimming / filing down the bucket stops to allow for the bucket to raise all the way.
That particular plate had a dip in the middle so I sanded it and made it flat. Now you have to be careful because the ride plate is only a few millimeters thick so don’t go crazy sanding it down as you might ruin it.
Of course there is coolant in there so he must have done a ride plate autopsy(plateopsy?) to know how much material can be removed. Interesting. A pump wedge could get another mph.
@@brucecooley4170 He shaved enough to remove the dip.. We played it safe, if we shave to much there's no going back. This isn't a fix to the issue, it's just a budget friendly band-aid to the ride plate issue.
Boost leak is a given, pump seal I always change when prop change. Im crazy like that lol and torque the hell out of the prop. If that prop spins off it pushes the carbon seal and the boat will go to Davy Jones Locker lol!!
Great video quick question have ypu seen the problems with the stage 2 riva impeller that is from solas?? I think my ski have one, but dont know I saw you installed the solas on this unit!
I’d like to see what you could do for an EP 230. I get 68 mph on any day and I can touch 69 mph at 9 hours of break in. My ski is now in the shop with 11 hours and I’m having my first service per Kevin Shaw. I have added a catch-can, secondary. bilge pump, Blue Sea battery isolator, and nav lights. I’m going to see what a catch can does, if anything, next weekend when I get it back. I’d like to see 73 to 75 out of it. Do you think it’s possible without doing a stage 2?
How did you come up with the 15 ft lb figure on the supercharger slip? The book spec is 71 -106 in lbs (roughly 6-9 ft lbs). What's the benefit of less slip? More boost?
Ths rule of thumb is 1ft lb per 1 psi of boost. These tunes are running the oem supercharger at about 15 psi @8500 rpm acccording to my data logs. These tunes are running the 8500 limit with goal range around 8300rpm.
Just had a dealer replace my wear ring and impeller with a 13/18 after I sucked up a rock on vacation. I immediately noticed my RPMs hitting 8500 with speeds of 72 MPH. I was 2500 feet above sea level and dismissed it to it being the first time I ran my ski there with the JP racing tune. When I got home, I took my ski out yesterday and I am hitting the rev limiter and only getting the ski to around 69, slowly. I am thinking when they replaced the wear ring and impeller with the 13/18, they didnt replace the pump seal and its causing my issue. Thoughts?
Man I just got my ride plate back from getting cut by Riva...My 22 was running around 77-78 with a stage 2. Getting the plate installed Tuesday so we will see!!! BTW What "tweak" did you do without having to take that pain in the A$$ off...? Spill the beans bro!!!
@RM.Adventures_ Tried the new (Riva cut) ride plate today. There was an improvement (1-2mph) and saw 79 @ 8300rpm... With stage 2+ I was expecting 80-83... I have an appointment with the dealer to check / re-flash the IBR sometime next week and will be checking for boost leaks & supercharger slip prior to that.

Might be better to buy a new ride plate and replace it
Thanks for sharing
What were the ride plate adjustments you did to hit 80?
Maybe pump wedge? I think there was whole video on that.
He shaved down the rear of the ride plate to try and get rid of that hump.

Solas had a problem with the first generation 13/18 but not anymore from my understanding I never had one break
he prob use a flat blade screwdriver to tighten it. no use a 1/4 inch socket on extension many are 8 mm hex.
to tighten what?
I got the same issue.

Do you have any info on filing down the vts/ibr bucket stops to get more range with the trim?
No

Silicone around the plate to better water flow over it ??
It might sound silly but it works

PRO TIP: DO NOT use Yamaha's Yamalube grease on ANYTHING rubber, it swells and destroys rubber.
As the dash reads 2 mph more why u never test v max with an stand alone gps like an Garmin ?
I’m still a rookie of this UA-cam stuff😂
In my opinion, I don't think a GPS is necessary for 70-80mph jetski. Once you starting to get over 90 is when you might wanna consider a Garmin GPS.
