    Great review my friend. When buying a "Classic Car" you got to have realistic and attainable goals on what you want to do on your classic car. I bought my 1997 Mercedes W140 S600 for $2200 back in 2018 and so far I have exceeded that amount because the previous owner did not kept up with its maintenance. I did all of my research, talking to others, and knowing what i'm going to get myself into prior to buying the car. I want the car to be "reliable" as it can be. I do all the work myself on what i can do. However for other works thats beyond my capacity. I would bring to a well trusted independent mechanic that knows how to work on those classic cars. Yes they are cheap to buy but it's the dedications, the work, and cost that you must be prepared to do. In the end, you have to enjoy what you bought, regardless of price, make, or model. My W140 S600 is by no means a prefect car in today standards but in my eyes, it's perfect to me because it's my happiness what counts. Every time when I drive my "Classic Car" W140 S600 I have a big smile in my face.

      Very well worth the effort to keep these amazing classics on the road. It's a joy to drive a W140 with the same powerplant that powers the Pagani Zonda.

      How much have you spent to bring it to a good condition? S600 is my dream but I am scared of all the costs that come with it

    • @1koolkat76

      @@tigrant.5592 I've spent about close to $8000 for all of the upkeeps. I do the basic stuff oil change, spark plugs, fuel pump, stuff like that. But for the big ticket items like Air conditions, water pumps, and etc. I just bring it to my local MB mechanic. If you know to do the "basic" maintenance, then you should be able to work on the car. But the key thing is, "Finding the right car with decent work that's already been done to it". There's a lot of W140 out there but make sure to find the right one for you. I hope this helps. I'm still working on mine. I'm planning to build an "AMG" Tribute car. I have all of the original AMG body kit, Monoblocks, and etc.

      The W126 and R129 are wonderful classics to own and drive. If you take good care of the car, the car will take good care of you!

    A very good point there, i 1st bought a mercedes back in 2014 it was the w124 E220. I really enjoyed it , the experiences of owning that model, as you know a true teutonic in a sense, a very reliable everyday car for me. Yes i'm quite fortunate as the car needs few repairs to make it good to my eyes. Had it a good 5+ years, than i sold off and now owning a w210 E240 2.4 V6. Now this car is quite similar in many way's, but again am quite fortunate it's a good daily drive as well. I supposed like you said, you really must do your homework right.

      Hey i just bought an S320L silver 95' model, now my new journey of owning and restoring just begun. Oh my the ride is so amazing after all these years. Manage to get it under 10k, still in great condition with few underlying issues to counter. Mileage at 298k plus still in fantastic condition. Lucky to buy from direct owner as he maintained it good. Right after watching your videos i'm so over excited to find one and now its fulfilled.

      You might not.. Try to find C124 400 V8.. Drive it.. Than drive R 129 500. If you want a beauty. R129 is the way to go.. This car will look more beautiful with time.. C124 400 is kinda rare and more practical. Try both than decide. Good Luck.

    One important factor in the financial theme you forgot to mention - if you're not single there will be a huge extra cost in gifts and appeasements to your wife!

    Another really good video. The only point I slightly disagree with is you will mostly lose money buying and owning a classic. Indeed, you said it would be very rare to make money. If you buy the right car, at the right time and look after it well, you’ll more likely make money than lose money. That’s my experience anyway. Terima kasih!

    • @HLClassics
      @HLClassics  2 роки тому

      Most classic car buyers (especially first timers) would not have the knowledge to buy a car that would appreciate in value. The classic car that a newbie would desire versus the classics that would appreciate in value are often not the same. Hence they should not kid themselves that classic cars would definitely make them money.

    I want to own a 1990s Hindustan Motors Ambassador. It’s a timeless classic and a beauty. It was a symbol of power during the 20th century and early 2000s. It was the first bullet proof car in India used by Prime Ministers and bureaucrats. And of course, I want to own a Mercedes Benz S- Class W140 model.

    How about w123 200 or 230e?

    • @HLClassics
      @HLClassics  3 роки тому +1

      The 230E is a good choice with fuel injection. The 200 is also a solid runner if you don't mind carburettors.
