Another nice video! I have one question for you. Are swift trucks automatic or manual? Is it possible to ask them to be trained on a manual transmission?
The company standard at this point is automatic the likely that a trainer with a manual truck get to train you are very low there’s trainers but very few If your getting your CDL with Swift you’ll most likely be teach both but when you go for your 200 hrs on road training most likely will be automatic
AB5 is being challenged by multiple law suits. Hopefully it will get overturned. Most companies in the affected states that have lease and company drivers are telling their lease operators that they have to move, go company, or quit. The democrats just didn't do their research to see how many folks would be drastically affected or they just didn't care.
Thanks for the content I live in Jersey also I am an owner op without my own authority. And I'm about to lose my business possibly. And don't vote Democrat my man they are crushing business
@@paulf3 you must not be very familiar with the trucking industry. I own my truck I do not lease it from a company. I can take my truck and work wherever I like. I happened to be using the DOT number of a shipper and I am contracted to carry their Freight. Previously I got my loads from load boards. You are correct I did have to pay a percentage of each load to the company who's MC number I was using but I used any load board I chose and I worked with any broker I chose and I negotiated my rates. I choose to do what I do without my own authority because I live in New Jersey and my first year of having my own authority I would be required to pay approximately $24,000 for Freight insurance. To me that's not worth it currently. You apparently are confusing lease drivers with drivers who own their trucks who choose to lease onto a company. My guess is you have not been in the industry for very long if you're in it at all.
@@paulf3 so that stupid initial statement you made was wrong is what you're saying. That was the point of my response to you. You said unless you have your own authority you can't book your own loads you can't negotiate your rates and that you can't leave a company if it's slow. You're admitting that's all Bs right? Because it is. Whatever business model works for you good for you. But don't sit here and tell people what they should or shouldn't do and say things that aren't accurate. and yes my case is rare being able to use a shippers MC number but you're also wrong about what most owner operators are. Most of them are just like me and don't have their own authority and they leased onto a company.
@@paulf3 I agree that having your own authority is most likely the way to make the most money. but for me it's not feasible at this time. when I'm running it would be no problem covering that extra cost of insurance. But what happens when I want to take a week off or two weeks off? Which I do pretty often. I still have that big insurance payment to make. so again what works for you works for you. There are many ways to be successful in trucking. Finding what works for you is the way to go. Saying someone has to do this or has to do that just makes you look educated. or this is worse than that and what I do is the best come on man you should know better than that.
