You can't beat the nog! Not kid friendly? You haven't met many kids lately. Like everyone else I wish you and your wife and dogs a very Merry Christmas and a happy, prosperous and healthy New Year! We appreciate everything you do for us all in the UTPC!
Hi Mike, wishing you all the best now, and for the year ahead. I know that you enjoy the occasional Cigar? have you ever thought of doing one of your weekly chats with a Cigar? Always enjoy your Channel, very restful at the end of the Day. Take care, Paul in Broadstairs, UK.😊
Merry Christmas Mike: My favorite eggnog story is one from my early years as a drinker. Circa about 1974 Risa and I threw a Christmas party for a group of our closest friends. As always we made egg nog from scratch in a gigantic bowl. My best friend Terry and I were in charge of the blending, all went well stirring in the eggs, cream sugar 90 proof rum (the best to use is Pusser's Black Navy Rum from the BritishVirgin Island of Tortola). As we finished the stirring we decided to fire up a couple of handmade cigars (at the time I worked at the Tinderbox so they were probable Partagas or Hoyo de Monterrey). Well of course while leaning over the stirring of the concoction ashes from our cigars fell into the mix. What to do! Should we fish them out? Nah, just stir them in and nobody will notice, even though that year's egg nog had a dinstinctly smoky under taste. Keep puffin.
I was gonna suggest WaWa Mike, Lol (I’m about 20 miles outside of Philly on the Jersey side). Enjoy your quiet, relaxing Christmas… I’m kinda jealous honestly lol. Be Well My Friend 👍
When I was 13 my grandfather passed away suddenly, I was devastated to say the least. I was very angry with God for taking my grandfather. The night of the funeral I was pretty upset and I began a rather angry dialogue with God while lying in bed. I’d been in the dark bedroom for a couple of hours, unable to sleep, when out of the corner of my eyes I caught a hazy amorphous shape swirling around the top of my bedroom door frame. It was like steam, which then rather quickly formed itself into the shape, and size of a small car grill, crisscrossed, like a checker board but translucent. For a moment it retained that shape… until the bottom fell out and it spilled down from the ceiling towards the floor, methodically, like a genie freed from a bottle, like pouring dried ice fog. Some of it settled and then began to rise, now slowly forming itself into a human silhouette, a translucent man shaped apparition. It took its right hand and slowly, purposefully placed it on my heart, as if comforting my grief. Adrenaline took over and I booked it out of there, and out of the house. I often tell this story about potential life after death when I encounter atheists but I don’t think it helps. I have no idea if it was my grandfather but I think about that experience a lot. Strange story I know but it was extremely influential. Merry Christmas 🎁🎄
Thank you for sharing that Matt! I can only imagine how influential something like that would have been. It may have been your grandfather, or God's way of offering you comfort in a time of grief. Either way, it must have been a formative moment.
I notice you covering your bowl a lot… are you effectively baffling your draw to cool the ember or is it just an idiosyncrasy to how you hold your pipe?
Baffling, but with the opposite effect. By decreasing the size of the inlet (the bowl opening), you increase the speed of the air moving across tobacco. Just like a bellows in a fireplace, this leads to a hotter burn. It can save you re-lights if you get the timing right. Or at least that's my attempt to explain what is otherwise an idiosyncratic quirk 😉
Bravo!!!! 🙌
Merry Christmas all. Thank you for the end of video message

Mike, be sure to ventilate that dry lock! I learned from experience. Next year "Captain Black Eggnog"! Merry Christmas!
